My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful, warm Wednesday evening dining outside at the Turn House. Social distancing and health safety observed and practiced here. We enjoyed the weekday special of 50% off select bottles of wine. Our appy's of Sour Dough Bread and Crispy Brussel Sprouts were very tasty. My warm Lobster Rolll was delicious and I substituted the chips for a small side salad. My wife enjoyed her Baby Lettuce Salad with chicken. Our table on the terrace and facing the golf course was very nice. We'd love to come back soon and hope the weather stays warm! Our server was very knowledgeable and attentive. Lots of free parking for the club house/restaurant.
I would best describe this restaurant as one level above bar food. Not much imagination goes into the menu. Everything is pretty much meh.
Service was pretty good, however, they are in no rush to clear the table of plates after you a finished eating your starter plate.
Pretty View and nice brunch. Bloody Mary not worth 11 dollars
We went for a place with a view where we could at (safely from COVID) outside to meet friends midway between our respective homes in Chevy Chase and Baltimore.
We asked a nephew who lives in Columbia to recommend a place that would fit that bill.
It did, plus the food and service both were very good.
Second time dining at the Turn House, dinner the first time, now I've enjoyed the brunch. My companions all loved the atmospher, service and food.
We met friends for dinner and found Turn House bc it had a patio with outdoor heaters. It was very comfortable and nice to be able to sit outside.
The food was good but we all agreed it was a bit pricey for what you got. The scallop meal should have come with a salad - it was pretty small portion and pretty much void of a side.
The crab cakes were wonderful and instead of fries I did get a very nice side salad.
The food and service was amazing, there was an event happening which was loud at times but overall we had a great time.
This was my first time dining at the Turn House. I sat outside. There was a heating lamp and a beautiful view of the golf course. Everything was delicious and the service good.
Fantastic food and drinks, as always! The weather was perfect for patio dining and the service was great. I was only disappointed that it took an hour for us to get our food. Luckily we filled up on drinks while we waited.
I found the website for this restaurant in a google search for options in Columbia, MD. I didn't realize that it sits alongside a golf course, nestled in a residential neighborhood. Pulling into the parking lot, I didn't know what to expect - but I was more than pleasantly surprised! The setting is beautiful and the restaurant has made great efforts in incorporating social distancing. My friends and I primarily sat on the covered terrace, overlooking the course. The terrace has multiple outdoor heaters, ample seating (well spread out), as well as an available fire pit. The fall foliage and evening sunset was a gorgeous view of the course. The cocktails and food were delicious. And the servers were all very friendly, welcoming, and attentive. Definitely worth 5 stars and I hope to be back soon! We had a wonderful time.
Lovely patio especially in these Covid times. Great food
It is a great place for wine lovers. I highly recommend.
Very nice outdoor place!
Food was excellent. Timing of service and food delivery could be improved.
There was a backup in the kitchen the caused a delay during service. The waiter kept us updated which I appreciated but dampered the mood of dinner. I imagine that is a rare occurrence otherwise the atmosphere was delightful..
The food was good overall but not quite what we expected. Tomato bisque was very rich. Lobster roll had too many shallots for me, not being an onion person. Buratta was very non-traditional and not our thing.
The service and ambience was great. Would definitely return to dine here again.
We had a wonderful experience at Turn House, with a huge amount of seating outside, our table was in a great spot with fantastic views, very attentive service, and a delicious meal. Looking forward to returning. A perfect location any time.
It was amazing seating outdoors
Our raw oysters were perfectly shucked, cleaned and tasty. I had the beef with carrot pasta special. While it was very good, I think the addition of perhaps small cooked carrots would make it even better. As prepared, it was mainly a beef stew taste. My wife had the crab cake platter. She said the veggies & fries were perfect. Her preference is for broiled rather than fried crab cakes. Our desserts were great. The cheesecake with blueberries rated an A+. The warm chocolate chip cookie with toast & jam ice cream rated an A, mainly due to the cheesecake.
The food was great! The service was not good at all.
First, no one greated us at the host stand. After 5 minutes, the bartender says “ I will be right over twice “. He never made it. Another tall gentleman sat us.
Now to the table service:
My mother asked for app, a beverage and a specific condiment.
The app took forever, the drink came right before her meal and the condiment didn’t come at all. She had to ask again.
I asked for cheddar cheese on my chicken sandwich and the bun on the side. The server said “we don’t have cheddar and I will come back tell you what we have”. He never came back, my sandwich arrived with American cheese and on the bun.
I won’t go back, I can find other places to nearly $100 for much with no alcohol.
Beautiful view very nice menu and the service was great
It is definitely a hidden gem. We were pleasantly surprised
Open terrace overlooking the golf course invites you to good food and drink.
This is a place with great atmosphere and unique food. Colocated with the Hobbitts Glen Golf Club, it has excellent terrace seating and open and airy interior dining experience.
Great food! Great plating and great service. We will be back!
Great potential but fairly disappointed. When we sat down there were small food scraps on the chairs, table, and floor - so much for sanitizing the space in between diners I guess. The servers were very nice but incredibly slow given how empty the place was on a Monday night. It took two hours for appetizers and entrees with the last 30 - 40 minutes trying to pay the bill. The food was OK - the menu was ambitious but the food was not particularly memorable (decent appetizers, good fries, not great burgers). Great location especially for outside seating. Maybe we were there on an off night but our visit did not leave a great impression.
This was our first time here and I have to say we will be coming back very often :-)
Wonderful outside dining with cover and heaters. Tables spread out properly and masks worn correctly. Great selections of whiskey/bourbon/rye. Excellent Old Fashion too. Apps were delicious especially the crispy Brussel sprouts. The burgers were cooked perfectly and the charcuterie board had some delicious choices. A great meal and worth a return visit.
Food was exceptional, fresh and delicious. Setting and service were delightful.
Excellent setting and food. A gem hidden on a golf course...
Great views, decor and food was very tasty
A neighborhood favorite. Tasty food, good service, and a beautiful, peaceful view.
We enjoyed the raw oyster special - tasty oysters & shucked properly. It was followed by the crab cake dinner & the scallop dinner. Both were excellent.
It took over 15 minutes to be acknowledged by the staff. The food wasn't bad, but they had a pretty limited menu and did not execute the little things well such as fries. Our server brought us a charcuterie plate and had no idea what cheeses or meats were on the platter, and took 10 minutes to get back to us with that information.
Overall a very good experience. Our server Abby was great and the food was very good. Outside seating allowed a view of the golf course. The house sangria was very tasteful and the serving size was generous.
Hello Anthony, We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your experience with us and we hope to see you back again soon! - The Turn House Team
First time going out to eat during the pandemic. Overall, very pleased with the Turn House's approach. Sat outside and had plenty of room between tables. Felt very comfortable and enjoyed the experience. Great service and terrific food. Had the oysters and crab cake platter, which were delicious. Would definitely recommend!
My wife and I had an early, 5pm reservation and were greeted within a reasonable time but things soon went downhill from there.
We ordered drinks immediately after a quick question about happy hour, which the hostess said was available to us, while the server said it wasn’t. Don’t know who to believe there. Drinks were ordered, but took several minutes to come out.
We then ordered our food, shared an appetizer and a burger. 30+ minutes and the food comes out, but the burger ($23) was over cooked terribly. Had our server checked back early (2 minute, 2 bite) we would’ve sent it back and had a new one made. He checked back, 10-15 minutes later he finally asked how we were, and my half eaten burger was even more dried out and unappealing.
Not only was this burger underwhelming, the fact that we were charged for it was even more shocking. Oh, and the $23 burger was a server being greedy and trying to take advantage of his computer system. He up-charged an item $4 when it already came with fries, the up-charge to the Parmesan fries should’ve been $1. He knew what he was doing and god knows how many customers he has gritted in this manner.
Being a business professional who spent many years in the industry, I know without a doubt he did this on purpose, as I suspect he was a veteran server since he had a trainee.
If, and big if we ever went back, we will steer clear from this server and make sure we seek out a manager early on if our food is not to par. $23 is a lot for a burger that came out as a hockey puck with some delicious onions. Shame on the management for not making this right.
Had a business lunch last Friday on the patio, we were a party of 3. Overall very disappointed. The service was extremely slow, it took 30 minutes to get drinks delivered, and well over an hour for food to arrive once we ordered. Fortunately we were not in a rush but, it seems unrealistic to think people have 2+ hours available for lunch on a weekday. Our server did not come by often and didn't seem to care whether we had a good experience or not. The food was OK, not great and imho not worth the price. I don't mind paying $20+ for a lunch entree if the quality is good, but this food just didn't measure up to what similarly priced restaurants in the area serve. If it weren't for the nice surroundings, I'd rate the overall experience even lower than I did.
