Been to Village Pub a few times. Food is always great. Service is very good. Portion is a bit small but that’s standard for fine dining.

We have lunch here most Fridays, driving up from Saratoga. Our favorite waiter is Tom. We are regulars and know most of the people here, including other regulars. This last Friday US Senator Chuck Shumer had a late lunch with a small party. I went up and shook his hand. He had a firm grip, warm hands, and a very brief, positive conversations as did not want to interfere with his lunch. We have seen other notables here. One I remember very much is 49er Coach Bill Walsh. Sue visited his group, he stood up when she arrived, and they would talk football (we were season ticket holders). Sue really knows her football and especially the Candlestick 49er plays. By the way, We love the Friday lunch specials the relatively new chef has been presenting!

Outstanding food. Service was also attentive if a bit intrusive at times (do we really need to stop our conversation so that they can take the bread plate away?) and unfortunately the noise level is very high, but that seems to be the plague of American restaurants - what can be done? Ambience is nice and somelier was very good.

This used to be our favorite place, but it appears to have taken a large step down recently. Perhaps it was just an off night. Our waiter was great. The bread was, as usual, great. The rest, not so much. Starting with the menu, it is okay but doesn't have the really surprisingly delicious entrees or appetizers we had come to expect. Good food, not great food, but prices have risen significantly. The sauces seem bland. My pork loin was too fatty and accompanied by boring sauces and adequate Brussels sprouts. My wife's butter poached lobster over what was supposed to be a complex mix of garlic and other things came out over pasta. The lobster was good, not $90 good, but good. My wife ate it by itself. I love butter, but this pasta would better be described as a pound of butter garnished with some pasta. It would have felt at home at a Friday's or Applebee's restaurant for $15 . Even I couldn't eat more than a few bites of it. We later learned that it was a mistake to put the lobster on pasta, and they didn't charge us for the dish, but seriously..this entree should never have occurred to the kitchen staff. I was shocked that anything this bad would ever have escaped the kitchen even if by accident. My pork was boring and greasy and not worth half what it cost but that pasta was awful. We skipped dessert. On the way out I dropped my umbrella and the receptionist kindly ignored it. No one helped with the door. Now I can open a door, bit those two moves , happening within 30 seconds of each other , epitomizes the change that has occurred there in the front staff. I came away wondering whether it was just the chefs and management that changed, or if the owner sold out to a former Friday's franchise owner. We won't be back until we hear it has changed. I would expect if this keeps up the won't have a Michelin star the next time around

Have written many reviews. On dinner, events, and we go here usually every Friday for lunch. Great chef. We drive up from Saratoga, California. Our favorite waiter, Tom. All service food, wine, drinks are excellent. Staff is always on the ball. We see many couples, groups, business, all ages, all dress, many Woodside people. Private dinning area, too, for groups. Can't forget to mention the best chef they have ever had! Young man, too. Terrific management!

Price was steep for what you’re getting only 4 courses for 2 people end up being $250 each after tax+tip. You can get better at other Michelin restaurants for same price point.

I've had better meals and service before here. Unfortunately Valentine's day is a busy day and they've chosen to offer a pre fix menu. The amuse oyster is not chilled, the soup flavors don't melt together, the kanpachi sashimi is fresh but not cold enough and lacking some sea salt for balance. The main course of seabass has a red wine sauce and that really restricts the choice of wine (we're in a mood for white burgundies). The main entree is executed very well and it's the only highlight. The service was a little too hands off because no one really come by to pour wine for us (we ordered a bottle instead of opted for wine pairing). Lessons learned, don't come on special occasions, they won't be in their top form.

Lisa was absolutely incredible. She took such care of my guests and me, and knew when to touch the table and do check in’s. I had an amazing experience, from the somms helping with choosing bottles, to the food dropping in synchronization, I would definitely recommend coming here to my friends, especially those in the restaurant industry as well.

DISAPPOINTING best encapsulates our most recent experience which certainly did not come close to measuring up with our prior dining experiences at the Village Pub. Perhaps it was because it was a Sunday night, but that non-prime-night should not in any way determine/drive the sub-par outcome. Based on our latest experience: so-so food, menu choices, service and above average prices, it will be a looong time before we would consider returning. Why? Simply because there are too many very good alternatives. Our experience was NOT in any way Michelin Star worthy...indeed, not even gold star worthy...at best bronze star! Save you money; find some other restaurant. And the Village Pub is 10 minutes from our home but we'll eagerly drive much farther for a much more enjoyable dining experience.

Village Pub never disappoints. It starts with the amazing spirits and wine options. While it seems overwhelming, the server provided the perfect pairings. The food and presentation were exquisite. The black truffle shavings over Italian burrata then the Flannery porterhouse were unbelievable. The service is unpretentious and just right.

The wine list is extraordinary (almost overwhelming). We had a lovely Chardonnay; if you are looking for inexpensive (bargain) wines, this is probably not your place. Also, the Baked Alaska for dessert was not only delicious, but also entertaining! We were very well taken care of.

The butter lettuce/pear/walnut salad was outstanding and the cheesecake with macadamia nuts, caramel and (I think) pear was the best I've ever had in 70 years of life on this earth. My companion loved her beet salad and Mary's chicken, and I thought the diver's scallops were superb, but the salad and cheesecake outshone them. Gabriel was a spectacular server, perfect in every way. He was kind enough to share a bit of his personal story with us when we inquired, and it is fascinating. I only wish we could afford to eat here much more frequently.

The food here is absolutely and consistently fantastic. What I find has been taking away from the experience here for me is the constant interrupting by waitstaff for the next part of the order - rushing through the menu, the drink ordering, the placing the desert order etc.
The last few times here we keep getting interrupted every 5 mins and that’s just too much and too unpleasant.

If I’m ordering $350 bottles of wine, please let me think about which one and let me enjoy the sips.

Unassuming from the outside, the decor and ambiance of this restaurant is just the right mix of sophistication without being stuffy.
With so many overpriced restaurants with underwhelming food in Palo Alto, this restaurant never fails to please.

Save room for the chocolate soufflé!!
