It took almost an hour between the salad course and the main course. That killed the evening.

Good service and ambiance, but the food didn't measure up to the price. The salads were mediocre. The caesar didn't have enough dressing, nor cheese nor croutons. The dressing on the butter lettuce salad had too much vinegar. The pork was OK, but I would have preferred a pork tenderloin for the cut. The duck was pretty good. I enjoyed the Baked Alaska a lot, but my boyfriend said it wasn't authentic in that they usually bake it rather than use a blow torch to brown it. I thought the flaming alcohol topping was a nice touch.

I love the Village Pub - one of my favorites and have been there over 100 times - but in the last 6 months its really hit or miss. The host/hostesses seem overwhelmed and don't remember my/anyone any more, the servers are of varying capabilities and seem to be trying TOO hard - and yet basics, like the time it takes to get a cocktail, becomes 10+ mins when busy. It's just not what it's been but I do hope it rebounds.

The Village Pub consistency could be its most appealing attribute.. Then again, the consistency comes from the great people that work there - dedicated to giving an outstanding customer experience. Melody is usually the amazing server that takes care of us when there, and I can’t say enough about the exceptional job she does.

We eat at village pub at least twice a month for the past 10 years. Food is boring now, I just love the ambience. They seriously have to make some changes on the menu. One other thing that I dislike is they never have avocado on their salads and I am willing to pay for it and they claim that at this fancy restaurant they don’t carry avocados!!!! Service is slower than ever unless ur lucky to get one of the good servers to serve u.

Great experience at Village pub. The last time we had dinner was a few years ago and the food was as expected, except for the chocolate souffle (reason for only three stars for food) which was way undercooked and extremely heavy. Service was good however and the two souffles were taken off the bill.

This used to be our favorite restaurant. The service was great but the food mediocre. My wife’s steak had gristle parts that were inedible. My pear salad was not ripe and was just a massive head of butter lettuce. For the price the food should be outstanding.

The Village Pub is not what as it is called. A restaurant slightly far off into the Woodside neighborhoods, it’s not a restaurant that is clearly visible neither. But once you notice this restaurant and step inside, prepare to see a dim-light scene, filled with cloth covered tables with candles lit on each. There’s a bar on one side of the restaurant and the rest are tables. Going here during the holidays, you will see that the outside of the restaurant is beautifully decorated with holiday lights wrapped long the outer ceilings and wooden columns. If the weather wasn’t so cold outside, eating outside would’ve been one of the most romantic spots to enjoy. Service here was AMAZING, be expected to be treated well here, with every question you need to ask on the menu and wine listing to be answered. They provide 3 types of bread (garlic Parmesan, a dinner roll, and a... rye bread?) with a side of butter for starters and their selection of wines is literally a book, as you’re going to see probably hundreds of choices of wines, beers, and cocktails to choose from. The dishes they serve here are American with a autumnal theme; almost Thanksgiving like but without the turkey and cranberries. Unfortunately, we couldn’t remember the names of the dishes we had but we had the duck and pork loin and the quality was spectacular! Meat was so tender and juicy and was definitely one of the best we’ve ever had. Dessert was alright as we ordered the Baked Alaska, which had a bit too much bourbon poured and lit on it. The Dark Horse coffee was amazing though.

Food was spectacular, service was exemplary, and setting was beautifully well-lit and suitable for a nice special occasion or date. Would I come back here? Most definitely if I am in the area.

What happened? The atmosphere and service were great as usual, but the food has deteriorated considerably!! First the bread. It used to be fresh, warm and tasty, now stale. The fennel salad appetizer was a three piece joke, followed by a parmesan soup with poached duck egg that was so heavy and bland, that it was hard to stomach. In fact I felt sick after the course from all the melted cheese. The main course ribeye meat was great quality and well prepared, but paired with onion rings of papery taste on top of a fat soaked latkes (may be it was supposed to be a gratin?). The poor lobster was swimming in some undefined flowery liquid. Even my son who at 23y can and will eat everything refused at the sight of the dessert he called a blob of chocolate. Overall very heavy handed onslaught of fat and protein with little or no taste except for the usual lovely cookies and after dinner treats and the reliable wine list. Very unfortunate. Again - what happened?

This Dr. Chau. I considered my family is regular with Roy as my service person. However on 12/23. Roy was off and I was placed at a table with the lady server. I would say the worst experience that I encountered. She was not thorough and not very attentive like Roy. I brought special guests to celebrate their 35 years anniversary. The atmosphere was so cold and rush at my table.

Service was sadly lacking. Two of our party arrived early and were seated at our table right away and told the server we would like to order a cocktail while waiting for the other two to arrive. They arrived 20 mins. later, but our server had never showed up to take our cocktail order. We had brought a bottle of champagne which we had him put on ice. When we asked him to finally open it, he poured our glasses, but never showed up again to refill them, and the bottle was not at our table. When we finally asked for refills, he consistently only refilled 2 of the 3 glasses! Our guest never got a refill and thought she had offended him somehow. Two of us shared the domestic steak special. The server said it came with potatoes. When it arrived, no potatoes were to be seen. We flagged down a busboy as our server never seemed to be around, and asked about the missing potatoes. He must have gotten our server, who reappeared and said he was getting us 2 orders of potatoes. They never arrived before the steak was consumed; he came back and said the kitchen had burned the orders but new ones were on the way. One order finally arrived at about the time we were ordering dessert. When the check arrived, a busboy brought us 3 gift bags of peppermint bark; I had to remind that there were 4 of us and we needed another bag.
Overall, the food was excellent, but for the prices we paid, the service was awful. Would have to think real hard about going back there again.

Food and service was good, but had to wait close to 40 minutes to be seated, even though we had a confirmed Open Table reservation. Not even an offer of free beverages while waiting. This is not acceptable for a MICHELIN ONE STAR restaurant. It's a busy time of the year, but there was a definite sense of being "processed."

Excellent service limited menu but well prepared. Huge wine list - I mean a book - not sure why
they think it is necessary to have that extensive list. We ordered a bottle of wine and then
they were out. Great place for special occasion very expensive.

Restaurant is a beautiful and charming located in Woodside. My friends and I were there for Sunday brunch. We all ordered lobster eggs Benedict which we all found it very bland and taste forgettable after eating it. We also shared caviar for appetizer but was disappointed that it was served with brioche bread instead of Blini (little pancakes). The brioche bread is good but not with caviar, it was too thick and did not compliment the caviar. Our waiter informed me that blini are only served for dinner. I wished he told us that when we ordered $200 caviar!
Overall, it it’s 3.5 stars but brunch food wasn’t Michelin Star quality.

We dropped in for lunch on our way to Los Gatos for a weekend wedding! I used to frequent The Village Pub with clients for business for many years! Great ambiance and food but it is a tad pricey for the portions as compared with a lot of terrific other restaurant options! Service was friendly and warm and attentive without being too much. Water was regularly refilled and the low was perfect for us!

Last Sunday, 12/10/18, four of us went to lunch at the Pub. Our first time was a disaster EXECPT for Michael at the Bar. Walking into the restaurant we were welcomed by the friendly 'hello and welcome' from this bartender. The bar is 'old school' beautiful; lots of wood and lots of booze. The host was welcoming as well.

Once we got to the table it was downhill from there. Although the waiter was nice and apologized after the awful experience, it wasn't enough. Our experience was already ruined. We waited 40 minutes to order; another 45 minutes to be served our main lunch entrees. My friend ordered a medium rare burger and it came out almost well done and cool. They replaced it after he was just about finished trying to not waste the food; the 2nd burger was cooked correctly. It left no doubt that along with the LONG wait for our food, the burger sat in the kitchen getting cold after being over cooked.

The waiter told us that he was sorry and there was a "large group in the back" he had to tend to; to which I said, "That is not our problem!"

The properly cooked burger was late and they did not take it off the bill.

Unfortunate. Sad. Overrated and arrogant place; but a "captured audience" in a little town so they don't have to change.
Unless they want to be ethical, proper, and good restauranteurs, that is.
