We have been planning to dine at Timbuktu for awhile to try the lobster Monday night special. Something always happens that prevented us from going. We finally went last night at 7 pm, but was very disappointed to learn that they ran out of lobsters. We were told that we should come at 4 pm if we wanted the lobsters. This is ridiculous! I can understand running out of lobsters late at night, but not at 7 pm!!!! Was it just a trick to get diners to come?
This is a special treat for us and we drive about 50 miles to get here. The food and drinks are consistently outstanding and we love our waitress of choice, Anna.
Our waiter was pleasant and patient with our table. He got our order correct first time. The food was great and plentiful
I heard good things about the restaurant and finally had to go. We had the crab dip and it was kind of bland and too cheesy. For my entree I had the stuff shrimp with a side of whipped potatoes and salad. The stuff shrimp were extremely salty, the whipped potatoes were very bland, and there was a hair in my salad. I told the waiter and he apologized and offered to get me another but I declined. I did not make a fuss about it at that point I was just turned off and over it. When we received the bill the waiter shared that he removed my meal and apologized again. The waiter was excellent! They offer great portions but the taste is not worth the prices.
OMG, I must tell you the truth, that compared to the previous day before when we had received the food. Today it was served on the correct size plate for our daughter's kid meal of chicken and french fries. Again, the chicken was overcooked and dry but this server quickly responded by making sure our daughter's kid meal was not overcooked and she was happy with a fresh replacement meal. He had also provided us with all the needed compliments to ensure that we were pleased with the meal. I got to truly enjoy my crab cakes without having to share most of my meal without her asking for some of mine. The chief that was cooking last night wanted our daughter to enjoy her chicken meal too.
We hadn't been to Timbuktu in couple of years since our daughter was born, but I was wondering if they still cooked those crab cakes just right for my taste buds. Well, they do! Well the only true disappointment was the food that was served to our daughter off the kid menu. The chicken was overcooked for a child teeth to chew and super dry in taste for us. She mostly consumed the french fries. The chicken along with french fries kept falling off her plate. The plate for her was way too small to be serving her food because her food kept falling off onto the table. So of course she wanted to eat it off the table but with Covid-19 now; we do not allow her to eat off public places anymore. Her plate was meant for appetizers.
We were seated very quickly and the service was quick.
Food, service, atmosphere was great. Always enjoy a great meal every time I visit. I travel from NJ to MD. Worth the trip.
Great customer service and great food. One question why do they add the gratuity on the check
Our server Eddie was all over the place. Other tables being served by other workers got bread with their meals our table did not. We ordered more drinks that never came out until I had to remind our server again. Would not recommend.
Food was good. Enjoyed having Charlie’s service as the waiter. He made the visit very pleasant. I’ll visit again just to experience Charlie’s delightful personality.
The restaurant has some annoying insects flying around the room. The restroom can definitely use some attention.
Food was trash crab cake was old had odor sent back fish fried to hard no flavor this establishment has fallen off Waitress was wonderful establishment was clean but Quality of Food don’t match price tag sorry not sorry
Food was exceptional . The only thing was odd was the Caesar salad came with Italian dressing on it🤔
Service was not good, my waitress up charged me without telling me, for a salad that was suppose to be a side with my order , then got an attitude when I asked her to modify the check.
You could see the entire change in how she handled me and my wife afterwards. Not to mention, we had to flag her down for everything-example- refill on drinks, napkins, straws, and to remove unused plates.
Totally unprofessional and not called for.
Won’t be returning as a direct result of the twisted lip attitude we received from our waitress….😡
So long Timbuktu 👋
Excellent experience! Although m dining partner was running behind, our waiter, Kevin, was extremely helpful in accommodating us by talking our order in advance then bring sure our appetizers and main course arrived as soon as my guest arrived. Great job! And the food was great also.
Melt in your mouth crab cakes are to die for! And they are huge!
We received a not so good experience yesterday. This is our nth time dining here. We always come back because of the crab cakes and lobster and our Filipino server. Always good. Last night was different. Our server, Mary, was so slow. Confused about our orders, served orders that’s not supposed to be the order of the person, sidings was interchanged. Crab cakes are dry and smaller. Lobster were so watery. When we asked for our chec, it took Mary some time to hand us the check. Overall, not a good dining/food experience.
Something has changed. Food not quite up to par and the prices have really jumped. Doubt we make the trip down from Bmore to Timbuktu. Sad.
The food was ok and our server was awesome.
Our server did not come over until after 10 mins, never said “Hi,” never asked us if we liked our meal, never refilled our drinks, & never asked us if we wanted anything else. She was downright negligent n rude. Had friend in fro out of town n will not be coming back.
The service was great. I got the Chicken Alfredo during my visit and the pasta was great, but the chicken seemed a little on the unseasoned side.
Twelve family members was visiting the area and I told them about my first experience at Timbuktu several years ago. The food is superb but the service was slow and under staffed. We waited 20 minutes before we were acknowledged by the wait staff. I was highly disappointed as I had been bragging about how great the place is.
We reserved outdoor dining but there was no outdoor dining when we arrived. The server explained that they never had it.
Steak was incredible— seafood wasn’t as fresh as we expected.
Great crab cakes
The AC was turned up a bit high but otherwise a very good experience
The service was excellent, once a waiter came. We did wait a bit before a waiter finally came to the table. Once couple did leave because of the wait. The food was fantastic. The crab cakes were on point. The platter appetizer was enough for an entire meal. We ended up taking the entrees we had ordered home.
Food was great and wonderful as usual. Food took forever but we understand due to Covid and short staff.
Other than taking 1 hour and half for food to arrive it was superb and service was great. Only recommend server come by little more since only got 1 refill and needed another but he made it up by giving me 1 to take home.
We have gone to Timbuktu for the last 6 years for our anniversary. In 2020, it was the only time we ate in a restaurant since it was a special anniversary - our 30th. We love their crab cakes.
Food was great but more pricey than we remembered. Kevin, our waiter, was fantastic. We were very happy with our experience.
The service and food was great. Would recommend to others.
Our waiter was absolutely amazing…after we waited 25 minutes to be attended to. The cream of crab was okay…but the rest of the meal made up for it. Loved the rockfish! Hated that whoever bussed our table stole my fathers Father’s Day card. Keep the money, but you could have returned the car to management. We were in a private dining room with no other customers, so you’re not going to tell me that the wait staff or bus staff did not find that card. Super disappointed and will never be back.
Food was not all that great. The crab soup taste like chicken soup. The oysters was topped with some poured on cheddar cheese. Nice menu option but needs a better chef.
GREAT! AWWSOME! Well worth the value
A birthday gathering. Everyone enjoyed themselves and food. Thank you!
Overall visit at Timbuktu was great, services were a little slow but it could have been because the restaurant was short staffed! Food was great, restaurant was clean and quiet!
Waitress never returned to check on us. Food was not hot. Sea jewels platter tasted raw- not cooked enough. Starter order was forgotten. Had to cancel it. It was apparent the wait staff had a shortage. Don’t mind the shortage but I spent $100 and the guest I bought combined spent $200 combined. The order I asked for to go was so far from warm. It’s apparent it was in the window for a while. Although the food is great at Timbuktu, when served lukewarm or cold, not so good. I will be back when their staff increase. Thanks.
Its pointless to make a reservation with this place because they don't follow it. You still sit for 30mins or longer when making reservations.
Waiter was great. He was very attentive and took good care of us. Food was good but a little pricey. Overall a great place to dine.
The service is mediocre as well as the dining area. The crab cakes were alright but pricier than one of the better places to get a crab cake.
Our server wasn’t too attentive either.
I took a visiting friend and my family and had a wonderful time. We had appetizers of fried calamari and crab dip. Then the main courses of Jewels of the sea, seafood Alfredo, and Colossal Crab cake. Our server, Zachary, was very friendly and provided spot on service. We will definitely be coming back!
