Tweed's Bison Burger*

Excellent food and service. Will definitely go back!
Beautiful unassuming restaurant in the heart of Riverhead. Very warm atmosphere and friendly service. The server had an excellent wine suggestion as I was having trouble deciding. We both got the bison steak which was cooked perfectly. I’m not much into potatoes, but their mashed potatoes were delicious. Nice portion of veggies also. I highly recommend this restaurant for a quiet delicious meal with friendly service.
What a great place!!! We had an early dinner reservation we arrived on time and were immediately greeted by smiling faces and sat by a friendly hostess/barback?
The server went over the specials and I chose the special bison steak. It was incredible. My wife had the duck and she loved it. The server was friendly and attentive. My wife had questions and she seemed to be happy to answer and talk to us, it was very nice. The cocktail menu is interesting and the spicy margarita was great. For dessert we shared the lemon sorbet , very refreshing! 5 stars all around , this place is a must if you're in the area!
My boyfriend’s 55th birthday 🥳
Our drinks were delicious, the same as the mussels in white sauce and the best we ordered filet mignon to died for …. The meat was cooked to perfection, juicy, tender and super tasty. We had an amazing time!!! ❤️
Such a fantastic night. Damoniqa (not sure if I spelled it right) was AMAZING! She made our experience amazing. Can’t wait to come back THE FOOD WAS INCREDIBLE
This place came highly recommended and I see why. The food and drinks were great , the service was exceptional! Not just our waitress but every employee we encountered was smiling and friendly. Bison is a great choice if you go here, the owner raised them right up the road! Next time I have business in this area I will surely be back.
the truth is that I was very disappointed the meat was tasteless the vegetables looked like hospital food the only thing that was good was the coffee and the burrata
Our hostess Cristine was awesome, funny and very accommodating
We will be back... Thank you
Service was very slow and even though the food was good, way way overpriced. Server was "taught" when a customer was using a coupon, the coupon required 20% gratuity should be calculated to include the sales tax - nope! Can at least say I tried it but in no rush to go back.
First time! Our friends love Tweeds. They always suggest we try it out. We are very happy to finally make a reservation at Tweeds. We found our new favorite restaurant. Food was fresh. Taylor our bartender was very sweet and friendly. Great service. Great live music.
Great spot for lunch. Bison burgers for lunch for a work meeting. Great food
Always a perfect meal
Tweeds chef is amazing and waitstaff are excellent. We go to Tweeds often
My husband has been wanting to try Tweeds since the summer 2019 when he 1st read about the bison, but the steakhouse is about 2 hours drive (highway) from where we live.
We finally made it last week when we traveled to the Hamptons, even it was still 30 mins drive from where we stayed, but I was so glad we did it.
We start off with Long Island clam chowder soup, and goose a term a seldom use in my reviews! Meat was so tender and juicy, it was just perfectly cooked.
I totally recommend this place. With that said, we will definitely be back again the next time in the area.
Unfortunately this time around we felt very rushed by our waitress. She continuously came to the tabs asking about our orders. Normally that’s a good thing but we were dining with another couple we hadn’t seen in some time.
Charged $5 for extra olives in my drink
Will never go back
The food was not well seasoned or seasoned at all. My table ordered a dozen oysters and only received 10 because they ran out but didn’t make us aware until we made a comment about missing oysters. Poor communication and service. Wouldn’t return.
Best place for stakes
Everything from the food, to the drinks to the waitress, was wonderful....
Definitely going back, and would recommend to friends
My girlfriend’s bison burger which was supposed to be done medium well was over cooked and my Kobe beef burger came well when I ordered medium rare. Sent it back. Again it came medium to well. Hard to overlook these cooking errors when the place was empty! I do have to admit the “fries” were the best we ever had. I quote fries because they were actually potato wedges. They were so very well deep fried and then topped with coarse sea salt; phenomenal! Last words, Claudia, our waitress was great and extremely apologetic concerning the cooking issues.
Ordered the rack of lamb and shrimp scampi both were excellent
They had soft shelled crabs that were cooked perfectly! The bison burger was terrific.
We had a wonderful meal at Tweeds to celebrate my husbands birthday. We have been wanting to try this restaurant for a long time and finally had the time to get here. Burrata Salad was excellent , the Bison Rib eye was cooked perfectly and was great and my Wagu burger juicy and flavorful. only drawback from my husbands comment was he thought the mashed potatoes could have been better they did not taste like from scratch mashed.
waitress seemed to have her mind elsewhere that was the biggest drawback for us as she was not very friendly or attentive but who knows what was happening in her life at the time. I don't want to be judgmental having come off such a difficult year
The most delicious buffalo burger I've ever had! Tried the burrata appetizer this time and it was outstanding. In the past we have had the bison cabbage soup and it is delicious as well. Always happy at Tweed's!
Great little spot inside an old hotel and restaurant goes back as long as hotel. Kinda like old fashion tavern. Service and ambience. Nice. Prime rib was slightly spicey and bit tough. But did enjoy. Would teturn
Our waitress seemed annoyed the entire meal she was impatient and unhelpful.
Dinner was so nice! Started with yummy oysters Rockefeller. I ordered the smaller portion of the lobster ravioli, which I think had 8? Delicious. My husband ordered the sesame crusted sashimi tuna- so good! There was some wasabi Mayo and a miso glaze underneath. That was served with some wild rice and broccoli. If I ever return to the Riverhead area, I would definitely pay Tweeds another visit!
It was a very lovely evening. We both had the fish special and it did not dissapoint!
Did not know the area, found restaurant on Open table. We loved it, food was excellent and service was on point. Looking forward to going back again. Burgers were cooked perfect.
Good time as always. Great cocktails. Our server was very sweet
Amazing experience as always. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough.
We had a fantastic time. The food was so good. We can’t wait to go back.
Valentine day surprise
The food was amazing they had a great wine list with decent prices. I called ahead for a corkage fee at its $40 which is excessive, insignia is only $20. The bison short ribs were melt in your mouth and my husband had the bison filet which he loved as well. We shared a very small piece of chocolate pecan pie. I will be returning the food and atmosphere especially the piano player is something we are looking forward to when dining here again.
Exceeded my expectations in every way. My Bison chili and my wife’s Bison burger were perfectly on point, the Bourbon list/choices were an unexpected delight, and the service by our waitress/server Alyssa was exceptional.
It was my birthday and my husband and I made a reservation at Tweeds. This is our first time at Tweeds. Our friends told us they always go to Tweeds for dinner. Tweeds has a great cocktail menu and our steaks were perfect. I enjoyed the ambiance and we had a special night. This is our new favorite restaurant.
I never like to leave a negative review but I feel like our experience was worth noting. We ordered apps, salad, entree and dessert but Our courses were not timed out correctly and our appetizers came out separately which was fine but my oysters Rockefeller were not hot.. then my salad came while we still finishing up apps and then our entree came out while we were still eating our salads it was just messy and seemed forced but at the end when choosing dessert is where our server told us that she needed the table for another reservation.. i offered to move to the bar and she said everything was full, it’s for that reason I will not go back nor recommend. Had we not been spending money I can totally understand but that was not the case at all and there seemed to be tables in a separate section so I can’t see why they couldn’t relocate the other table. Furthermore the other server with the glasses was staring us down and we felt super uncomfortable. I work in the biz for over 25 years and never had such an experience.
Our all time favorite place !
First time here and will def be back! The food , the staff and chatting with the owner made for a trifecta of fun.
Wednesday date night out with my husband and the atmosphere was very nice. I had no idea that downtown Riverhead had such a gem right on Main Street. Pro tip: Riverhead has limited on street parking but there are municipal parking lots on the next block and behind the restaurant. Allow a few extra minutes for parking.
On to the good stuff. The food was AMAZING. One might even say outstanding. We started out with the crab cake appetizer. The sauces on the plate were delicious and I wanted to get every drop of those sauces into my mouth.
We both ordered the Bison Cowboy steaks. The cook on them was perfect as was the seasoning. Chef Ian knows how to handle exotic meats properly. I felt like I was back in Cody, Wyoming eating my very first bison steak. It was that fresh and flavorful. His sauces were the perfect accompaniments to the bison. I am very picky about my sauces and I was very pleasantly surprised.
Our server Alyssa made our night out both memorable and enjoyable. She was attentive, upbeat, knowledgable about the menu offerings and showed a passion for the food there.
WE WILL BE BACK! I can't wait to try the Elk and explore the menu further.
side note: The restaurant did a great job of maintaining covid precautions and protocols. If you want a great little steakhouse with an interesting twist on a steakhouse menu, you really need to try this restaurant.
