It's affordable, but our server was switched halfway through which caused confusion, drink glasses were weirdly sticky, and desserts didn't come out all at the same time. It was OK. Just not great.

Our selection of main dishes was disappointing because thy happened to be too similar. Our okra starter was the best I’ve ever had. Perhaps they were short staffed the night we came, but it took halfway through the entree for one our cocktails to arrive. I’d go back and ask more questions to make sure I get different kinds of tastes

This was out anniversary dinner, and we told the restaurant this. Upon arrival, we gave our name and the hostess said happy anniversary. From there, the experience became too ordinary. Service was inattentive at the outset, although it did improve. My wife ordered Prosecco and we were told they were out of Prosecco. Imagine that? The State Store was 2 blocks away. The entree was tasty, especially the curry chicken and the Tandoori Shrimp. Most restaurants honor your celebration at desert time. Veda did not for us. It would have been a nice touch and engendered us to return.

Had a great time on a double date recently. Our group was composed of vegan, vegetarian, and meat eating diners and everyone was able to find multiple things on the menu to order. I recommend ordering a bunch of appetizers for the table to share because there are just so many great ones!

Delightful NYE prix fixe dinner. As a solo diner, I was treated graciously and with respect. The food was out of this world (lobster) and just enough to feel sumptuous. Fantastic cocktails, as always. Veda is one of my top 5 favorite restaurants in Center City.

Great food. Had 8:30 pm reservation on a weeknight. Host didn't seat our party even though the restaurant was nowhere near full. There should be some discretion used by the host (despite the policy). We sat at bar with my 8 year daughter. Bartender was "chilly" and explained that she couldn't sit there. I forgot that that is standard protocol so I had no problem moving BUT it was the chilli-ness that got me. Server was OK. At the end of our meal, another server came to clear table and then came back to ask us for our napkins, which I found odd. Moments later, the lights were turned up brightly--to signal it was time to get out. I found this to be so incredibly obnoxious. I was really turned off by this. It was clear that the manager was tired and ready to shut things down. His desire to go home was more important than making sure his guests didn't feel rushed. We were done with our meal, as I said, but I didn't want to feel that I was an imposition. I've never experienced this before and I didn't like it. Too bad because the food was really good!! Will try someplace else next time.

everything was great. We made a reservation but moved to the bar seating for the happy hour menu. They should offer happy hour for the entire restaurant not just the bar area. But that's my only complaint if you want to call it that; everything else was 100% great

Philly needs a fine dining Indian restaurant. Until this happens Veda takes that place. Tangy, spicy cauliflower was tasty but very stiff. Eggplant was nice, good sauce and easy to cut. Lamb chops were fine. Soup that came after the food was presented was very tasty even if arriving late.

We have been to Veda several times. It is one of my husband's favorites.
This visit we had the samosas, spinach chaat, chicken tikka, mushroom korma, and garlic naan.
All of it was served with a generous bowl of basmati rice.
Everything was delicious and the service was friendly.
We will definitely be back and highly recommend to anyone with an interest in Indian Cusine.

Veda would have been 5 stars for me except for two things.
First, our friends were delayed in traffic and were about twenty minutes late. Veda made us stand in the bar and wait for our friends to arrive. The table was ready and available, but we were not permitted to be seated. I am 71 and I don't like to stand and wait. I would rather be seated and relax and order some drinks.
Second, after numerous appetizers, most with sticky sauces, the waitress removed our dirty silverware from our plates and placed it on the table while she cleared the plates. We got fresh plates but not fresh silverware. Plus now the table was sticky from the dirty silverware. You don't put your elbows on that table because if you do your elbows would stick.
Food was excellent and service was otherwise very good.

Always impressed by the service and food. I introduced 3 friends to Veda lunch and they were also impressed. Although the restaurant was full with holiday groups etc, it wasn’t too noisy. Typically, I can’t hear myself in other restaurants if seated next to large groups. Tried a la carte, instead of the buffet, to sample new dishes. Hope to eventually try all their special dishes.

The cocktails were very good - we had two appetizers, both of which fit the bill. The entrees were bland, however. The Paneer dish tasted like the cheese was simply tossed into a cream of tomato soup and lacked any fragrant spices or complexity that I expect from Indian cuisine. The chicken dish, while better, was nothing to write home about. Both dishes were portioned well, served in an appealing manner, and were delivered to our table in a timely manner. MANY Gluten Free and Vegetarian options on the menu.

Waitstaff, while attentive and available, were obviously green. We saw two waiters walk by with cocktails served in coup glasses who both seemed terrified to drop them. Manager was on the floor and visible the entire evening, also spoke with us more than once to ensure we were happy.

Prices were great for a Philly restaurant - very reasonable. Atmosphere was ok - scented oil (vanilla maybe) was being diffused in the front of the restaurant - very distracting to the palette and olfactory when eating.

Saw that Veda is now offering Sunday brunch so I had to try! There are always lots of good options for vegan/vegetarian/gluten free/dairy free folks at Indian places so I brought a friend with a soy/shellfish/dairy allergies.

We were both able to find things to eat- she got the chicken kati and I got the curry eggs. The kati came with a side salad and the eggs with paratha. The kati was small, which we were warned about, but it was basically one spring roll cut in half for $8. The eggs included two hardboiled eggs and nice sized portion of curry. The paratha was made in such a way that you couldn't peel the layers and instead it was like one long string so that wasn't as good as it could have been. The curried eggs were 10$ and that seemed like the right price.

They were running a promotion where if you posted on social media about being there they would give you a free dessert. I got the saffron kheer (rice pudding) and my friend got the pear, wine, and ginger sorbet. Both were delicious and I would definitely get that again. The kheer seemed to have pistachio on top which is not mentioned in the description so I did have to scrape that off.

The service was a little too intense. The waitress came to our table about 20 times throughout the meal. She was very kind and always had some new information for us but we were trying to have a catch-up brunch and she basically became part of it. We went right when it opened and there were only one or two other tables there with us so perhaps once more people come she is less intense.

Overall I would highly recommend this place and I will definitely be back!

Food is excellent had dinner by the bar, staff does not know the cuisine cant describe flavors, and understand what the dishes are. Service is decent suggestion focus on the guest not the TV. Keep personal convo to a minimum when guest are present. If they improved front of the house. Could be a top restaurant on philly.

At lunch time, it seemed that the buffet was the correct choice -- and it was. Many selections with fresh naan and rice delivered directly to one's table. Great vegetarian options; three chicken entrees; salad; soup dessert. Excellent value. Plus exceedingly friendly and accommodating service.

We enjoyed a variety of dishes - all were delicious. Some people wanted food to be less spicy, some wanted it more spicy. I thought it was just right. At this particular dinner on a Sunday evening it was not too loud. (Other times is was very loud.) Our servers were attentive and helpful. I am sure I will return and recommend it to friends. It's best with a group so you can taste many dishes.

We ordered several small plates - spinach and cauli were each excellent. Small plates are not small. Service was good but we didn't expect to get all the dishes at one time and the server should have asked us how we wanted them. The place is extremely loud and it's difficult to have a conversation. I probably would give a higher rating if it weren't for the noise level.

First time visiting this restaurant for an anniversary dinner without the kids. The service was outstanding; the food delicious. We started with the Spicy Corn Soup (not really spicy to me) and the Chicken Murmuri Rolls, both were very good. We couldn't decide on just two dishes, so we ended up ordering three: Chicken Korma - my husband's usual favorite - this was different from the "traditional" and I liked it better, my husband not as much; Lamb Vindaloo - my usual favorite - the lamb and sauce were perfect; and Chicken Chettinad - absolutely outstanding and my new favorite. We took the extras home - they were even better the next day. We will be dining there again and definitely recommend this restaurant!
