Been here several times. Always excellent!
Excellent service, food, and drinks!
Great time, great food. Drunken Lassi is great too!
Service was outstanding. Nice location and ambiance. Food was good, but wasn’t great. Now that we’ve been there, we now know what order, and how much. Crispy Spinach was delicious, crab cakes and ribs were so-so. I was expecting more of an Indian flare with those two dishes. Tandoori didn’t seem quite the same as I am accustomed to. Again, it wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t anything out of this world. Main dishes were nice, with the requested amount of spiciness (5/5), but weren’t outstanding. Did I say the ambiance was great? Felt very relaxed and welcomed by the hostess. Our waitress was patient and helpful when we place our order. We never wanted for anything, as we were well taken care of by all staff members. I would recommend Veda, and would definitely go back. Oh and the bar is quite nice.
When I walked in, I was expecting more. Service was great. Bar was nice. It was the food that disappointed.
Great place. Great food. Only problem: The back of my seat was facing toward the aisle of the restaurant so that guests and servers kept bumping into my chair. Maybe they can rearrange the chairs and tables to leave a bit more space because that wasn't so much fun.
We had a delicious dinner. The food was exceptional and is perhaps the best indian in Philadelphia. We were not in love with the limited wine list. This definitely needs curating and updating. Also, why is the water on the table lukewarm? We had to keep asking for glasses of ice all night. That got old pretty quickly. back to the food...the tandoori was delicious. We enjoyed the shrimp tandoori, the okra salad, the shrimp curry, the paneer palak, a lamb dish, the chicken kebab and some yummy naans. I would go again but beware of the limited wine selection.
Veda was absolutely amazing. I have always been apprehensive about Indian food. However my fears subsided with a taste of the Naan bread and the most wonderful cocktail (congee). We ordered a variety of dishes to share from the chicken Murmuri, Lassoni Gobi, to the Goan crab cakes.
From there we had some main dishes Chicken tiki Achari, chicken makhani, Calcutta pork ribs, Lamb Vindaloo and more.
The dishes were outstanding and inventive by pairing spices and ingredients in the best way I never thought of going together. I will absolutely be going back!
The food was very good and tasty but very salty (resulting in very dry mouth later that night!). Service was excellent.
Great food and service. The goat cheese naan is an excellent option to start your dinning experience.
Outstanding food and a relaxed atmosphere. Perfect for getting together with friends
We entered Veda and were greeted by a horde of extremely loud drunk ppl at the bar area. They were on a whiskey crawl. We managed to find seats at the bar. It took 10 minutes for the bartenders to take our order even though they saw us. We ordered two cocktails. Overpriced and just average. We were seated in the middle of the restaurant and it was cold because the door was opening and could feel the draft. Appetizers were a artificial bright red cauliflower which was very greasy and not tasty. The Bright green Chicken was good. Dinner was terrible. The chicken biryani barely had any chicken and wasn’t what real biryani should taste like. The saag paneer was was too spicy and terrible. Meanwhile the ppl at bar area continued to shout so it was hard to have a conversation.
Overall Veda is trying to be a trendy new Indian restaurant
But honestly we would not recommend it.
Service was great. Waitress was knowledgeable and helpful in picking dishes. Food was amazing!
My husband, daughter, my daughter friend and I attended Veda on my birthday. They ate their before and highly recommended it. Nice ambiance. Not sure was our waiter new because the service was off. My daughter tried to order the Paneer w/lamb instead of with Makhani and the waiter said she couldn't change it, yet she did it the last time she was there. We ordered more rice which never came. I ordered the Paneer w/makhani it was just ok. I had better. The Paneer was more like a green liquid not like spinach substance.I requested level 4 hot but it wasn't hot at all. I think the waiter mixed up the heat level with my daughters friend order. He said his food was spicey yet he didn't request hot. I should have ordered the Lamb Vindaloo instead because my daughter said her plate was good. I have been to much better Indian cuisine restaurants. If ur looking for just ambiance this would definitely be it.
Much better Indian food may be found nearby for no more money.
Apps were amazing, as were the drinks, but mains were disappointing. We weren’t given drink menus, and it was 30 min before we finally received drinks. After that, the food was rushed outTook >30 min for our order to be taken, and then the food was rushed out, and was missing items (both apps and mains). Tried to clear our apps before we were done.
Amazing food. Great ambiance. Great service. Drinks were awesom2 too.
We went for Valentine’s Day and the set menu was perfectly portioned out. Everyone was so extremely nice and accommodating even for a busy day. The only complaint was I asked for a romantic seating area (the view was a curtain) but I understand it being Valentine’s Day options are limited. We would love to be back again we had a great experience!
Lamb chops were not good. Spice level 4/5 was NOT spicy at all. If you love spicy food or any spice at all, do not get them because they are bland
Great atmosphere and drinks, friendly service, and overall very good food. Loved the restaurant week menu. Only complaint is that the salmon was insanely dry and fishy. Other than that, we loved everything else we had!
We had a nice experience at Veda but it was weakened by lackluster service. While our waiter seemed to have an understanding of his role, the people delivering food and removing plates were sloppy and made some glaring mistakes. Plates were literally pushed around and dirty silverware was moved around on our table between the courses. These areas of service took away from our overall experience. The food was wonderful and the cocktails were enjoyable.
Waitresses and waiters were very nice . The food was simply amazing . Trying different tastes while in the same food group was amazing . There were mint leaves inside of their mango sherbet, and that was something I have never heard of . Will gladly go back again
Excellent nouvelle Indian restaurant. Nice decor, interesting menu, attentive staff. The food was well prepared and pleasantly spiced.
went for dinner during CCD restaurant week. Food was spectacular. Had a house specialty mohito
that was brilliant . would go again and again . Great Experience !
It’s is our second time here in two weeks and we are still having a good time. We’ve tried quite a few things and we will keep coming back for the food and service! They are very helpful and you don’t feel overwhelmed!
I love India food and the vegetarian food here is very nice.
Food was not impressive, will not come again.
Veda is Delicious!!! I went for dinner during restaurant week and the experience was great, I will definitely be back.
GOOD APPETIZER (EXCEPT WINGS WHICH WERE TASTELESS)
PLATES AND SLIVERWEAR WERE NOT WASHED PROPERLY
TRIED LAMB AND CHICKEN CURRY BOTH HAD NO FLAVOR, SEEMED LIKE LOT OF WATER WAS ADDED TO THE CURRY
Food and service were good, but the drinks were outstanding. So many creative choices and very well executed.
The hostess was quite rude to my friends who were waiting for us to arrive. She threatened to give away our table if we didn’t arrive in 6 minutes. There was no line and no one waiting and they wouldn’t seat anyone until the entire party arrived. There was only 4 of us and we were parking the car as she was threatening to give away the table. It’s not like my Friends were just waiting around they went to the bar and were ordering drinks which they would have done the same if they were at a table! We weren’t even 15 minutes late to the reservation and our friends were at the bar ordering drinks And they still wouldn’t seat them even though they were there and we were on our way. Service was good. Food was ok. Small portions. Menu listed gulab jamun with rose ice cream. They didn’t bother to tell us that they didn’t have any more of the Rose ice cream and just gave us vanilla. They served one little gulab jamun ball with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream. I’ve never been to an Indian restaurant that serves 1 gulab jamun ball as the dessert. It’s usually 3 pieces or more per one serving. Portions for price are not typical like at most Indian places. They were quite small. The malai kofta was very tasty as was the spinach chaat. The bacon chili paneer naan had no chilli just tasted like bread stuffed with bacon bits. Not a fan at all. The lamb was good but the mussels were great!
The food was Ecstatically pleasing and delicious. Many vegetarian options. The ambiance was very warm, intimate and inviting. The staff was friendly and attentive. I would definitely eat at Veda again.
19 year Anniversary
Great Indian fusion food. Creative fusion options as well as authentic dishes. Went for restaurant week and had a great 4 course meal with some delicious drinks.
Fine dining experience for Restaurant Week. Food was very good and with four courses almost more than we could. Salmon dish was my favorite and pictured by my review. Apparently not on the regular menu, though.
Veda might be my new favorite place to eat in Philly. Restaurant week was my third time eating there. Unlike most restaurants, they don’t design the RW menu cynically to dumb down their kitchen and cut costs. Every thing I put in my mouth that night, as before, was exciting and memorable.
The menu is so creative and exciting, the atmosphere is on point, and the service was charming. An owner/manager type gentleman also checked in with us, which is always nice. The cuisine just nails that aromatic, heady magic of Indian food that feels like both medicine and comfort food; it keeps a sort of happy cloud of complex flavors hovering in your nasal cavity for an hour after the meal. Usually I find a hole in the wall to get that fix, and I still will, but Veda adds an artistic twist and puts South Asian cuisine proudly on the foodie map of Philly.
Excellent service and food! Will be going back soon
The lunch buffet is worth the trip. Wonderful staff and amazing food!
Our waiter was extremely helpful. Great service! The food is good too!
