We had an amazing experience! The view was beautiful, food was delicious, service was great. The manager, Reggie was wonderful. Server Hose was very good. Just a great place to dine. Will definitely go again soon.
Water's Edge is the hotel cafe and bar, but given that the food and service were subpar. Drinks were on point.
Pre pandemic, I had gone to Water's Edge numerous times. The menu was much more varied and the food delicious.
This visit, the menu was vastly depleted. I was so disappointed there were no entrees; only sandwiches and appetizers. That would have been ok, but nothing looked amazing on the menu; only ordinary. Although we went for dinner, we decided on drinks and an appetizer; nachos. I have had better nachos at Taco Bell (no, I am not exaggerating). There were no jalapeños, the cheese was blah. They forgot the sour cream, although the host had to check the menu to make sure it said sour cream, which it did. We also saw a wait staff serving a nacho dish to another table and it did have sour cream. I have to give the host credit though because he did take the nachos off the bill.
There were very few people there. It was really sad and disappointing.
Hyatt needs to step it up, although hotel restaurant food typically isn't the best. In the past, as I stated, the food had been delicious (I don' remember if Hyatt owned it then).
The inside designs looks worn and dated, especially the rugs.
The view remains spectacular. This could again be an amazing spot, if Hyatt looked into this and took care of it.
The food selection was very limited and felt like it’s fast food. We had to get up to go pay our bill. Once we got our food, no one checked if we were doing ok and if we needed anything else. The salmon was raw and I couldn’t find the server to let him know. It was understaffed for the amount of people that were there. It wasn’t worth the money I paid for.
The bar area has great ambiance. The food is fine but the selection is lacking.
I have very mixed emotions about Water's Edge. It is what is perhaps the most scenic restaurant in DuPage county. It is located in the Hyatt Lodge on the former McDonalds campus in Oakbrook. The restaurant itself overlooks a large pond (complete with swans) and a mostly wooded area. So much for the good parts. Water's Edge is literally a white table cloth restaurant. But also a restaurant where you have to order from the counter, and they bring you the food, kind of like Culver's. Apparently Water's Edge is only open for Breakfast/Brunch. Food wasn't bad but disappointing for the price. Service was friendly and helpful. I will certainly go back if they turn the place into a full service restaurant. The location and view will be worth it.
