Made reservations for a party of 6 on Father’s Day. We had a few people running late and the restaurant was very accommodating. The food was delicious and the service was tentative. It was a nice quiet brunch…. Maybe because it’s a college town and not many people were still in the vicinity. The interior was extremely cute.
We had Kevin as our server and he was AWESOME!!! Would definitely come back the food was all great :)
We went to Brunch this past Sunday and it was incredible! Every menu item we ordered was delicious, so I really don’t think you can go wrong with ordering. We were in town visiting from New York, and had heard great things about White Dog Cafe, so we made a reservation a few weeks in advance (just in case because it was Father’s Day.) I loved that the first thing they asked was if any guests had food allergies or preferences, so they could notify the kitchen. I work in the industry, so impeccable service is something I always share about when I see and experience it. I believe our server’s name was Molly. She was amazing and extremely knowledgeable with the menu! Every employee from host, to management, to waitstaff, to food runners and bussers - they were all friendly and welcoming. Would love to visit again if I’m ever back in Philly!
Wonderful experience - haven’t been to the white dog in many years and it didn’t disappoint, the food was wonderful, atmosphere was excellent, and can’t say more about our waitress - it was a one of the best restaurant experience I have had in Philadelphia. Would highly recommend.
Service was a bit slow and it was hard to take advantage of our bottomless mimosas. Server forgot some parts of meals.
Food choices were great.
This is our second time here and food was fantastic.
The happy hour was a great deal! I would recommend some fries with drinks.
Awesome! Food and service great
The restaurant is on a beautiful, quiet side street just north of Penn University. It is larger inside than it looks with many small, intimate dinning rooms all carefully decorated with dog themes of course. Oh, and the food is unique and delicious.
Good food and atmosphere but service was terribly slow. Sat for 15 minutes before I flagged someone down to take our drink order. Slow to be delivered, appetizers and entrees were very slow as well. We spent 2.5 hours for a meal that shouldn’t have taken more than an hour.
Menu choices fir brunch were a bit limited. Would like to see more choices
Absolutely wonderful brunch with family! Great options for all eaters! Love the farm to table!
Brunch is amazing and the wait staff is excellent.
Amazing food and will be returning again!
Great place…ambience, staff, food, service. A Philly treasure🙂
This is a quirky, funky restaurant with very good food. Nothing really special, but it’s fresh and nicely prepared. The service is excellent, and the ambience is warm and friendly
We had a nice server and the food was great. Only downside is the restaurant was so loud it was very difficult to even have a conversation.
great service with real kind staff! other customers were respectful and food, drink, and desert were outstanding!
Wonderful old building. The lunch prices are definitely on the high side, but substantial portions of good food.
Great service in a place with small rooms. They add to the ambiance and privacy for a good business meal.
Wonderful to be back, our server was wonderful and food to die for!
Fun atmosphere and delicious pork barbecue sandwich.
The food was fantastic. Unfortunately Server was subpar but would definitely go again. Everything we ate was delicious
The service and food were very good. I had the tuna tartare and the sugar snap pea ravioli. Both were outstanding. Also, the bar tender came to our table to talk about the wine. Great service and tasty food!
Amazing food and service! Rachel was attentive and friendly as were the managers Camar and Patrick. Very cute location, Each room is styled different to fit any occasion. Cant wait to go back!
Deliious brunch, fantastic service, and lively place.
End of school to year for my son
Such a beautiful building, solid menu with great cocktails. Staff seems happy to work there, positive place.
We had a lovely time. Seating was outdoors and the plants helped make it feel cozy. We sat at a picnic table and enjoyed the pretzel bread app and cheese board. We ordered various entrees: salmon, pulled pork, ravioli, and chicken. We shared two orders of brussels sprouts, one with bacon and one without. Our server offered great suggestions and we were able to include special requests. We will be back.
Despite indicating it was a birthday on Open Table, our server never mentioned it. I am not sure why Open Table includes it as a question.
The restaurant has its appealing atmosphere and the service was very friendly, but not really competent. The waiter, though she was very nice, couldn't provide any additional details on dishes we had asked her about; she kept saying "I will go check". The food quality was average though prices were comparable with much better choices for a dinner night in the city. The chicken was dry with a scarce amount of vegetables on a side. The mushroom soup appeared to be from a powder mix. The biggest disappointment was the tuna tartar with raw tuna leaving an aftertaste; the fish appeared to be not really fresh, somewhat disguised by flavorful dressing. However, we had no issues with talking this order off our check. I would not come back and I would not recommend this place to my friends unless they want to see the original building and lots of very cute portraits of dogs. Oh, one last thing. The restroom was filthy. It smelled and a huge piece of dust fell off the vent when I closed the restroom's door. So it's a no-no.
The food was amazing! The server was very attentive and really made for a great experience. The fried pickles and deviled eggs were a favorite amongst everyone at the table!
Sunday brunch was Amazing! The strawberry rhubarb french toast was absolutely delicious and the side of bacon was thick and perfectly crisp! The decor was really fun and unique and our server was cheerful and kind. I will definitely be back
5 of us got together on campus for a 30 year reunion and had a great time. We had oysters, lamb ragout, Thai noodles and some great drinks. It was fun to be back on campus and a pleasure to eat at white dog again.
Lovely. Great veg options.
White Dog is among the most reliable restaurants in Philadelphia and a local pioneer in farm to table. We've eaten there dozens of times and always really happy with our experience.
Sprawling inside as multiple homes were joined, giving each room a different feel due to the different art styles in each. Wonderful food, and dog artwork abound inside. Great meal.
Great food and service! Servers went out of their way to make the experience good.
We had a wonderful experience from the beginning. We had no wait time w/ our reservations which was great since it was a busy Sunday / brunch time. Our waitress Phoebe was friendly and attentive to our needs. She was gracious enough to switch out my drink when I was not pleased. To say the food was amazing would be an understatement. I have been here at least 5x before and I am always happy with the food quality and service. This is one of my favorite brunch spots in Philly and I will definitely be coming back.
Basic experience. Nothing too far left or right. Dishes are a bit overpriced. $18 for a tuna tartar is more in line with an upscale restaurant, while this one is more simple casual. The flavor, presentation....nothing blew me away. I didn’t understand how the price was set. My friend’s strawberry rhubarb French toast looked delicious and she finished it all. Crime brûlée was also basic. Everything was just fine.
