For Chef Russell, food can be a very intimate experience that can make you relive a core memory, or even create a new one, and being able to do that for someone is one of his greatest experiences.

This dining room is where we reunite and gather to celebrate, relax, and share good food.

Our cuisine is inspired by the Southern Italian and Mediterranean Sea regions, with a focus on house-made pastas, seafood, and game proteins.

Our dining room is an extension of our hospitality.

This was a new and very positive experience for us. The food, the staff and the ambience were exactly what we are looking for when we go out for dinner. Attentive staff that gives you just enough attention, leave you in-between courses, no rush, you can speak to each other over the table without raising your voice. The food shows that they are really paying attention to details, it is fresh, vibrant and flavorful. We will definitely be back.

My wife and I came to eat here after missing out on dine downtown week. We had the most amazing experience from start to finish. The hostess, Genevieve, was friendly and sent us champagne to celebrate our date night. Our server was Malina and she was amazing! She walked us thru the menu and was super helpful. Everything we ordered was delicious… chicory salad and prosciutto (with these little pizza dough balls that my wife remembered her grandpa making with her when she was little!) to start.. I had the bucatini cacio e pepe and my wife had the beef cheek ragu, both which were outta this world. In addition the kitchen made us one of the dine downtown menu items because we had talked about how bummed we were to have missed it! Such a wonderful date night!!

Willow is a nice restaurant. Their version of focaccia bread is excellent. Anytime you go you should get it even if you don’t feel like having bread. I’m so sorry for you if you’re gluten free. Our main courses were the duck pasta and the Cacio e Pepe. The duck pasta was pretty good. The pasta is cooked correctly. The sauce was good enough. The Cacho a Pepe was not as good as I had hoped. The bucatini was over cooked. Some of the bucatini was collapsed, so the pasta noodles looked more like linguine than bucatini. Over cooked. Also, it lacked enough pepper. Even though it was the lowest price entrée, it was not worth the price. Overall, I would probably go back for their focaccia.

The special New Years Eve menu looked amazing. It ended up being laughably bad. I tipped $50 just for feeling sorry for the wait staff, and for our waitress's honesty... when we told her that the duck pâté was gross, she agreed! Duck pate: gross. Oysters: delicious, but only one each. ONE TINY OYSTER???!! Salad: highlight of the meal. Tiny. Beef cheeks: meh. Mashed potatoes: not bad. Scallops: average, and served lukewarm. Desert: forgettable. Satisfaction: completely lacking. Not only was the food either gross or blah, the portions were tiny. We left HUNGRY. The drinks weren't bad. The wine pour was scant. The martini was good. The Manhattan was perfect. Total dining experience: Definitely A Supposedly Fun Thing We Will Never Do Again. We also had a night in the hotel. It was ok. Drunk girls screaming and running in the halls after midnight, zero security to deal with drunk girls, but plenty of hot water, and the bed was good. The front desk staff are awesome.

We enjoyed the food and the ambiance. The staff was friendly and helpful. Near the end, a huge group came in to the bar and it got too loud - sports bar loud. We found out they had been invited by the owner after the Kings game let out. It did not fit the ambiance of the restaurant to have this crowd encroaching into the dining area. No regard for the dining guests. A couple actually had to be moved to a table farther away from the bar due to the crowd and noise. For the price we paid, it was an upsetting finish to the evening. Also, we had to pay $20 for the valet, it is apparently by the hour (not $15 as their valet stand shows). I recommend going on a night when the Kings aren’t playing. The chicken is amazing and so is the duck pasta.

Per the waiter they are a real Italian restaurant as the make all their pasta in house. Portions are small. Salad was a standard salad, nothing special and nothing Italian except a few slivers of fennel. The Paccheri were good. The pasta was aldente and the duck Sauce was well done. But portion was very small. Cacio e Pepe was also good. The deserts were very disappointing. Zeppole were not fully cooked inside and did not have the sweetness required in the dough. Also, why serve them with applesauce? The cannoli were not good. The filing was dense and tasted like Cream cheese not fresh light ricotta. You cannot serve cannoli like this and want to be an Italian restaurant. Device was good but too much attention and lack of real knowledge of Italian food and pronunciations. Finally, too expensive for what you get. You would pay half the amount in Italy for a better meal.

The ambiance the food and especially all the staff. This 22nd year Anniversary will go down as one of the best ! We were taking my 85 year old dad to see a concert and he wanted Italian food. I was able to get a 5:30 reservation and the reviews were excellent. The food did not disappoint. My dad and I had the duck ragu pasta and it was outstanding. My husband had the pesto pasta, also outstanding. We shared a broccoli rabe side which was perfectly cooked and the focaccia bread to start is not to be missed. The only reason this is a 4 star verses 5 star review is that the pasta selections are limited to 3 and a glass of wine or cocktail is $16 each. Pretty darn pricey. This is definitely a special occasion restaurant

They corrected their mistake but we went for the lemon ricotta pancakes which were not on the menu. They replaced them with banana which seems sub-par. The Italian hash was tasteless and served cold. The donuts with fig jam were good but the jam wasn’t “figgy”. The poached eggs were served hard. Service was great. They had dried persimmons hanging from The lights which were weird looking. The manager offered that we didn’t pay for the meal. We tipped the server $20 I’d try again because they are new and working out the kinks. .

Our family went there for a birthday dinner including a couple of kids. We had a 730p reservation and were seated promptly. The hostess came back to check on us about 20 mins later to apologize for nobody getting us water. This seemed to set the tone for the whole night. The dinner took 3 hours(we finally got our check close to 1030p), and not because the food we ordered took a while to prepare. Our server didn't seem friendly, was slow to take our orders, and misinformed us of the meal being family style, though the servings were definitely meant for one. We just feel like we weren't well attended to. We looked at other tables getting their dishes before us, though they got seated after us. The food was fantastic, so compliments to the chef, but the timing between courses and the service we received ensured that we won't return, or even suggest this place to our friends, many of whom hold our opinions of eateries with high regard. We are avid restaurant connoisseurs, enjoying the overall experience of great food and service, as you can see in my other reviews. We eat better than most, so this kind of place is nothing new to us. Willow really needs to address their service issues, because all the work the chef puts into the menu will get dragged down by service from people that don't seem happy working there: it's basically sabotaging a spectacular artist like gravity tethers a bird from truly being free. 3 stars should be 4.5. Not happening here, though.

I really wanted to like Willow but just couldnt. The ambiance was good. We were seated right away. Italian restaurants always provide bread/rolls shortly after being seated. I asked for rolls and our server, Monica, seemed perplexed. She then offered fococcia and I said yes, that would be great. She never mentioned that it was not complimentary and that it was $12.00. No big deal but would have been nice to have known. We ordered the Bucatini and it was really heavy and too cheesy. Monica forgot to write down that we ordered the chicken so we had to wait another 25 min for that to be cooked and brought out. This was a work dinner so we asked her to put a certain amount on on the corporate card and the rest on the personal. She charged us the full amount on one card and the amt we requeted on the corporate card so we were charged 1.5 times for the meal. The manager adjusted this but still......by then we were ready to leave. Will not be going back and will not be referring to friends.

Although the service was a tad slow, the food was well worth the wait! We had no time pressure so we were able to dine with leisure and enjoy the flavors of every dish. Imaginative treatments, wonderfully subtle sauces and beautiful presentations. Best to check the Golden 1 schedule before you go to minimize traffic and parking issues. Valet available at $10/hour which may sound high to some but it's the price of convenience. Willow is a very welcomed addition to the Sacramento dining scene!

Dinner for 2 adults and 2 kids $300. Food took a long time, steak was small (said to fed 2-3 people - no way) and way undercooked as we ordered well done, it was rare. Also appetizers didn’t come out together, pasta and steak were delivered to the table about 20 minutes apart which was weird. Nothing was hot. We won’t be returning. We ordered 3 appetizers, 3 pastas and the steak. No attempt to celebrate the birthday at all. Poor all around.

The 4 of us had pasta, and each couple shared an appetizer. We each had 2 drinks. The bill was $300. What we didn't know was that they were charging us for the water, $8.00 per bottle. The water bottle label said it was Tuscany. They asked if we wanted still or sparkling water. We said still. I guess we should have ordered tap water. The food was good. The service was good. The noise level was low, which is hard to find in Sacramento.

Came here on a date with my husband— really outstanding food and wine. The kitchen was a bit slow, which I imagine is just because they’re a relatively new restaurant, but the waiter service was very attentive and we got a free glass of wine to make up for it.
