Restaurant booked for Sunday lunch. On arrival the entrance was inviting, clean and welcoming. The staff very attentive and polite, after greeting we were shown to our table which was in a light and airy room. The food was excellent with a good variety of choice, freshly cooked and of great quality. Overall a very good venue with staff who were obviously well trained polite and smartly turned out. Would definitely go again.

A meeting of cousins. An annual event however our usual resturant had closed for good. Time to pick a new venue and chose The Windmill at Burford. Easy to get to on the A40. Simple to book online. The venue were able to cope with us no problem. The staff were friendly and very efficient. The food from the Sunday lunch was tasty, hot and plenty of vegetables. It's always a bit of a chance with a new venue but The Windmill met and exceeded our expectations. Very good value for money. We had a wonderful lunch and have already pre-booked fir our next get together in 12 months time. We all highly recommend this friendly resturant where the staff made us feel very comfortable. Thank you everyone. If you are in the are or visiting from Adam Try The Winmill. You won't be disappointed.

Exactly what the four of us wanted, good honest 'pub grub.' It was a shame, given this was a Saturday evening, it was not a little more busy, which it should have been based on our exerience.

Went there for a light lunch in the week. Venue is really nice, view across valley is gorgeous. The service was very good and food was really nice. Would recommend and go again.

We waited for 20 minutes before WE asked for drinks. The table was so wobbly. We again had to ask for condiments, and still didn’t receive salt and pepper. We were never asked how things were/if we needed anything or even if the food was nice. My youngest son is in a wheelchair and we weren’t offered any help with him either and were sent out the door with the step! We felt neglected and like our business meant nothing. It really put a dampener on our ‘special’ Father’s Day lunch.

Looks like the management has changed and the food is not as good as it was before. Very expensive for the food we had. The Rib Eye Steak was just a simple steak and the sauces did not seem home made.

Upon arrival we were greeted with a muted hello from the man behind the bar, although the young lady that showed us to our table was polite and friendly. The restaurant was almost empty but must say the view out of the window of the rolling fields behind the Windmill was lovely. Once seated the young lady took our drinks order and the drinks arrived soon after via a young man who looked uncannily like Liam from Benidorm, all good so far. This is where the evening went downhill, there were 4 tables of people dining, one of about 6 with their children, ours of 7 and two tables of two(one of these left soon after we arrived). There were two young staff members serving all tables and another older man who stayed behind the bar all evening, so shouldn’t have been a problem on a very quiet night. We ordered two starters of prawn cocktail and mains of 3 scampi, two steak and Guinness pies and two supreme chicken, we also asked if it would be possible to swap the new potatoes for mashed on one of the supreme chicken dishes, the young man taking the food order was unsure and didn’t seem to understand what was being asked or offer to go to ask in the kitchen but he said it should be ok. The prawn cocktails took well over half an hour to arrive and looking at what was on the plate (not a lot for £9) this seemed a bit odd. The mains were another 45 mins (although both servers did come to apologise for the wait at different times) not sure why the what looked like a senior member of staff (behind the bar) was not the one to apologise and to be honest I felt sorry for the two serving as they both seemed to lack experience with something clearly out of their control. When the mains arrived they came out in drips and drabs and one dish was forgotten and a ramekin of mash was given as well as the chicken meal instead of replacing the potatoes as requested. All in all not a great night, food was fine, waiting time was a joke, unlikely we will return.

We very much apologise for the waiting time and your experience. We obviously strive for better and are very disappointed when our guests are not satisfied. Unfortunately on the evening in question our main chef was suddenly absent and "the man behind the bar" tore a muscle in his leg which is why he stayed behind the bar. The young staff on the floor were lacking experience. However, like many other hospitality venues we struggle for competent staff.

We went on a Friday night, a table for 9 and should have realised when there was only one other table full in there. Lovely setting, friendly, nice host and a gorgeous dog. Sadly it stops there, our order wasn’t correct and we were served raw chicken! It was replaced but you shouldn’t get raw chicken from a professional chef! The lamb considering the price wasn’t up to much either. Sadly we won’t be back unless a new chef is employed

The Windmill is now our favourite Sunday roast "go-to." Our only regret is that we weren't aware of it when we had visitors recently but we will certainly share it with others whenever possible. Excellent venue.

Service was lovely, unfortunately they have a lazy chef, veg not cooked, ( as in rock hard raw) didn’t even peel the carrots, potatoes at best guess where probably last weeks that had been frozen and reheated in the oven ( only way I can describe them ) £175 for four people, well over priced for an undercooked meal, we now know why it was so quite in there, best off going to macdonlds if you want a properly cooked meal and value for money, used to be the best place to go, not any more, I’d avoid unless you like reheated and raw food, or at least until they get a proper chef in there 🤦‍♀️ let’s be honest anyone can cook a Sunday roast so i dread to think what the food is like for the rest of the week unless you choose the brought in frozen choices on the menu which I suspect is 85% of the menu

Thank you very much for a lovely Sunday lunch. From the minute we walked in, the service was exceptional, with a lovely atmosphere. Everything was really clean and tidy, and lovely flowers all around, including the tables. Food was delicious, served hot and promptly. Plenty of it as well!!! As for value, we were very pleasantly surprised. Shall definitely be back asap, as want to try a different pudding, as couldn’t decide….

Great venue fabulous setting, and fantastic building. We visit often as Lunch and Supper is always great, attentive service and friendly staff. A varied menu and something for everyone always fantastic quality and value. An absolute gem that I throughly recomend.

Good was very good, and a nice place, if a little lacking in atmosphere. Pleasant and polite people but whole experience could do with an injection of personality. We didn't feel the best was being made of a good opportunity. Sometimes a warm welcome and a convivial atmosphere can make you choose to go back to a place.

Our roast meal was served piping hot and delicious in very good sized portions with friendly and efficient service. The restaurant was busy and had a good atmosphere being filled with both families and adult groups.

The quality of food was average at best and the prices quite high £21.95 for roast lamb). Vegetable were reheated and overcooked. Roast potatoes anaemic. Underwhelming.

I was there with my niece and her daughter - three generations. We were made to feel very welcome. On a cold day the restaurant was well heated and the food was very good and beautifully presented. The staff were pleasant and the service was comfortable - not too rushed. It was not our first visit and it won’t be our last.
