Excellent food, great service, and nice outdoor dining option on Society Hill.
Recently dined outdoors; after the order was placed, waited an hour before the food (enchiladas) arrived. When it did arrive, it clearly was not cooked in an oven and seemed microwaved. The corn tortillas were placed on top of the sauce (prepared separately) and was like eating straight out of the bag.
The server was nice but wasn’t able to multitask well.
Looking at other tables that night, I think they had similar issues.
I will not eat there again.
1st visit to this restaurant.. drinks were fantastic, food was very good. service was outstanding.
The ceviche appetizer was ok although nothing great. A lot of the seafood tasted like frozen prepped foods thawed. We ordered the 2 special tacos (salmon and pork). While the salmon had some interesting flavor combinations, the pork was literally just plain pulled pork. I think the most disappointing bit were the sangrias. Both lacked flavor and a lazy mix of juice and table wine.
Though charming, the cobblestone streets made the table and chairs wobbly. Service wasn’t as attentive as I would have liked.
The service was incredible. The folks working there are great but the food is subpar. Limited choices and not very tasty. I’ll only go again for drinks.
Fun spot in a great location. The food was very good & the margarita’s were creative & delicious. The atmosphere was laid back & causal and the staff was great. Would visit again.
Ambience is fantastic and the best margaritas I’ve had in a really long time. Also get the churros.
Met a friend here for dinner after we both got the vaccine, so it was the first time eating dinner out for either of us in a looong time. Food was very good as was the service. Nice place I’d overlooked before. Would definitely go again.
First time here. Service was great. Tables were spaced far apart and food was delicious. Definitely will be back. Great Blood Orange margarita
Great drinks and amazing food. We liked the ambiance and the attention. Rib tacos are a must.
Food was very good. I got the braised short rib enchiladas. Drinks were good as well. Mojito and Coquito were delicious. Guac was great. The only thing that wasn’t my fav was the rice pudding. It was too milky. Not enough rice. I would avoid it.
The food was on point and quickly served. We had no issues dining outside under the arcade with the patio heater. We started with the queso fundido of rajas, which is to die for, and overall, the whole staff was very nice. I can´t wait to go back again.
Our experience at Xochitl was perfect. Our server, Monica, was friendly and attentive. You would never even know they have to cross the street to take orders and deliver food/drink.
This was our first experience back out in the city since Covid began and their practices were very safe. The outdoor dining was well ventilated and well heated.
We will definitely return.
The food and drinks were good but a tad overpriced in my opinion. The atmosphere was great and our server was so nice and attentive.
Great authentic Mexican food in a charming environment. Service was very good. They are doing the best they can to meet the needs of their customers while also balancing the restrictions put in place for covid
Xochitl was so delicious! I’m being very COVID cautious and am very selective about where I dine right now and I was impressed with Xochitl’s outdoor space. It was beautiful, warm, with lots of space between tables under the historic shambles. The heat lamp was so toasty I took off my coat. Our waiter mentioned the staff gets tested frequently, which I appreciated. And the food itself was so good! I loved the enchiladas and the queso. I can’t want to go back.
Food was good, so were the drinks. Be careful with the outdoor seating tho. My friend was robbed while we were eating. Someone went into her purse and took her ID and credit cards. We noticed someone come it and warm up by the heater and he must have gone into her purse then. They don’t really monitor the outside area.
The waiter was amazing! The food and drinks were also amazing, would highly recommend!
This was the worst dining experience I have ever had. Waited over an hour to get chips and quac which were never delivered. Our drinks were awful. Our waiter walked by us over fifty times and never acknowledged us and, therefore, We were never able to order our actual meals. When we finally found him to pay for our drinks there were no apologies. Normally I absolutely love this restaurant but hesitant to go back after such a bad night.
Their outdoor setup in the Headhouse in phenomenal!
Exceptional
Service was amazing. We were chilly outside and the staff came out with an ADDITIONAL heater just for our table. There was already a heater at the table next door but the staff were soooo accommodating and wanted to make sure we felt warm!!!! Great experience
Precioso! A simply wonderful evening.
food here is always good...like everyone else they seem to be doing the best they can with this pandemic going on
Amazing shrimp tacos and drinks. Such great value and service and very clean.
Food is OK, service is OK. The place is nice and the neighborhood is enjoyable.
Most delicious food, exquisite service, beautiful atmosphere ... in short, a truly magnificent outing in the middle of the pandemic! I will go back as soon as I can! My most favorite restaurant in Philadelphia!
We ate outdoors in the shambles at Headhouse and felt very comfortable with the conditions! Food and margaritas were very tasty and Monica did a great job taking care of us and many other diners. We are so fortunate to have dining experiences like this these days
They were understaffed so we were under served . We mostly sat wondering where our waitress was. The restaurant comped our drinks and tacos as a sorry and the waitress wrote an apologetic note on the bill. The waitress seemed frazzled and rushed everything. She was very knowledgeable about the food and her suggestions for food items were spot on. Overall, the food was delicious. We would eat here again but perhaps not on a busy Friday night.
This was our first time at the restaurant
We ate outside
Service was sanitary and there was plenty of room between tables
We enjoyed everything
The food was okay ish
Xochitl has a super cute atmosphere and the food was delicious. We ordered the Chicken Enchiladas (verde), Camarones con Caldo, and the Signature Guacamole. The service was somewhat slow but the food and setting made up for it.
What a fantastic dining experience even with Covid. Food and drinks were amazing. Had a watermelon jalapeno margarita, signature quac, chicken enchiladas, and yuca fries, all were delicious. Kyra our server was super attentive and friendly and what a treat to meet Ian the GM, who came up and said hello, and gave us complimentary churros with whip cream and chocolate! To die for! Will be back!
I went here on a date and we ate outdoors. The signature guacamole and shrimp tacos were delicious. We went here because it was possibly going to rain and they have tables under a solid structure and said they would continue service unless it was really storming. Be kind to the servers as they’re walking across old cobblestone streets to bring you your food and the service was excellent. Will definitely go back.
Boyfriend and I came to experience the outdoor dining amidst covid. Wanting to try this place forever. Finally go and it was a horrible experience. We waited a long time at the hostess counter before we were seated. Our server seemed bothered. The food was cold. My boyfriend ate his meat. Drinks were not good. We left to go eat elsewhere. Wasn’t a fan nor will we be back. .
Food was fine, but there are lots of better Mexican options in Italian Market (blue corn, south philly barbacoa, mole poblano) or on passyunk (cantina de los caballitos), so its not worth going out of the way for. Value is decent, although a bit pricier than those places (ie 3 tacos for about $14-15 here, versus $10-12 at the other spots). Drinks were fine.
Service was sloppy, which usually doesn't bother me, but they brought wrong plate to our table and then realized mistake and took it away directly to another table - which seems like a red flag during a pandemic! They also forgot to bring silverware, commented on that and said it would be right out, only for it to never arrive. It's not bad per se - but lots of better options in the area.
The food was not fresh and pretty dry. The short rib enchiladas were very small and on the dry side. The veggie tacos were pretty bland and lacked flavor. Yucca fries were dry and tough. My perfect margarita had too much sweet and sour mix.
It was pretty cool to fill out the card for the guacamole and that was probably the only good part of our meal. Service was good. Experience was overall disappointing but of course I understood the COVID situation may have played a role in the quality.
Seriously some of the best tacos I’ve ever had. And here I thought I couldn’t find any better than El Vez in Philly. Look no further.
The food was good, service was okay, not bad, but could’ve been better. Was disappointed in the wait time after we were seated, especially since they weren’t crowded. Just took a little too long to be waited on, served, and cleared.
Outdoor dining was very well done! Service and food were excellent! Looking forward to going back!
