Rams Head Tavern - Savage
Service was a little slow due to the holiday, but at least we didn’t feel rushed out of our table. Food was good. Always wishing for more vegetarian options.
It's been a few years since we've eaten there. The menu limited and seems to have taken a turn away from fine dining to pub fare. The strip steak was just OK, although it was cooked just as ordered: medium rare. The brats and mash was unappealing to look at; the plate needed some color. The brat reminded me of a hot dog. The mashed potatoes and sauerkraut were good. The ambiance is still nice. It was too cold for patio seating, but in the past that has always been enjoyable.
The service was horrible, food was cold
Good food, great choice of beer. Service started off good, but attentiveness dropped off after the entree was served, as more tables filled.
We tried the Tuesday prime rib special. It was fantastic but we made do. The meat was a little tough to cut with the type knife they provide. If the meat is tender it would have been fine. But tonight a sharper knive would have made it easier to cut.
We had a very nice dinner and the service was excellent. We’ll be back in March.
We enjoyed everything.
Service was very good. However I was underwhelmed by the Salmon BLT. I will not order that dish again. Fries were cold but kindly replaced. I will eat here again as I do like this restaurant.
Nice place with a ton of beers if beer is your thing. A little out of the way but a nice place. Would dine here again.
Loved the food, loved the music!
Christmas dinner with my family did not happen because the handicapped entrance door was locked. After knocking for a bit with no one coming to open it, we gave up. We were not equipped to handle the steps into the restaurant so we took the elevator back down and left. It is very unfortunate that this establishment has little to no regard for the disabled.
Ram's Head is especially appealing at Christmas with the festive decorations throughout the Mill. The food was as expected but the wait staff was delightful!
It was very good. Drinks and fish tacos and burger and Lemon and artichoke pasta. The drinks weren’t very strong. Pimms Cup and Mango Cosmo
The food was very good.
The location is fabulous.
Dinner with a friend. Good food and great service from our server Kelly. We were upstairs so it was quiet and we enjoyed the high school students carolers. We will return!
We asked upon arrival if upstairs would be quieter than loud ambiance on bar level and told yes. Unfortunately, there was a large “private” group having a Christmas party. At first no big deal. Everyone should enjoy the season. HOWEVER, we soon learned that group had loud announcements and singing. Fine for them, but we were all, inescapably, subject to the experience. Young children were running wild, including on an upper balcony overhead, stomping and tearing around. When asked kindly, blank stares from the restaurant host and nothing was said. On top, our waiter was also looking after the two massive tables 30-40 guests, est,, and completely disappeared. Parties are fabulous, but that section really should have been closed to the public.
We were disappointed with the reservation process. They did not have a table ready and then tried to put a table of 7 in a space that would fit 5 tightly. We had a difficult time getting them to be creative in finding a solution to a table that comfortably fit 7. We made the reservation from 7 right from the start and they never told us that they did not have table to accommodate 7. After that issue, the experience was fine, but we had to really push to get them to accommodate us.
I took my mother on Thanksgiving, having confirmed with the Chef that she would be able to eat the turkey dinner (she has food sensitivities, particularly to MSG). He came to the table, showed me a container that had MSG as an ingredient, then told me he had several turkeys that he did *not* use the seasoning on, and assured me that everything on my mother's plate would be safe for her to eat. Our waitperson was also very attentive.
The food itself was good and plentiful (we made a second meal from the leftovers).
Food was great! However, the person who seated us had no idea what he was doing. He showed us to a table for 4 and then took 2 of the place settings away. We asked why he did this, since there were 4 of us...his explanation made no sense. Our waiter was nice, but he kept forgetting things. Luckily we enjoyed the meal once we got utensils, rolls, ketchup, etc.
Here for Sunday brunch today. As usual they were reliable with good food at reasonable prices.
Sunday brunch is terrific, great food, service in a cozy atmosphere downstairs. Rams Head is also our favorite place for lunch, especially during the summer when we can sit outside.
We went for Happy Hour and what a great value. There are many apps at half price- enough of choices to make a meal! We tried several and all were prepared well and delicious. You are not locked into certain drinks because it is money off of all beer, wine and cocktails which allows for great choice. Service was excellent.
We love the atmosphere at this Rams Head location. In the warmer months, the outdoor patio is awesome! Food is average but we always go back for the atmosphere.
Dining room not open apparently
Very accommodating, server was great, food was well prepared and delicious. Overall great experience.
We asked for the patio because our 77 year old birthday girl wanted a view of trees and water. And our octogenarian grandpa is hard of hearing and sensitive to cold A/C so the patio provided the low noise level and warm temperatures for his comfort. Thanks to Rams Head for opening the patio for our party of 8! We got great service and had a really fun time!
The crabby tots were a hit with my date. I loved the outdoor patio. It's nestled in a very pretty area. Will definitely return.
I would recommend this restaurant soley because it is the ONLY restaurant at Savage Mills - which is a really interesting place to visit - especially if you like artisan shops and antiques. Ram's Head's beer selection is extraordinary and their house brews are tasty. The food is mediocre. Server was friendly and accommodating - they were bust...so it took a while for a server to even come to our table.
We went there for Sunday brunch about 1:45pm. We were very pleased to see an actual brunch menu, rather than one exorbitant price for a buffet. Two of our party of 4 are light eaters, so we didn't want a buffet. The restaurant was quiet enough that we could carry on conversation without shouting, which is important to us. Our waitress was VERY helpful and accommodating. The food was delicious and priced so reasonably. There were so many choices on the brunch menu, very imaginative and creative.
We went for Happy Hour. Great value. Good choice of appetizers at half off. Beer selection is excellent and money off on wine and spirits too. We did order some things from the menu and all was very good.
We went with a group of 8 for my birthday this past weekend. Our server, Joey, was fantastic, and the food was great, too. Great value for the price. Only complaint is there was a bug on our table - thankfully Joey came to the rescue.
Absolutely the BEST crab dip I’ve ever had in my life!! Server was great at handling our party of 8 so we had to get a picture with him
Our leisurely lunch was thoroughly enjoyable. The service was outstanding from the host’s welcome and through our very efficient, proficient, and courteous server’s attention right up to our departure. The food was also outstanding as we have come to expect from Rams Head. The price is also quite reasonable. We were pleased to see more patrons than our last visit to Savage as the experience is worthy of more business.
Excellent lobster and steak dinners. Excellent service by Megan. Can't wait to return. Yum.. also happy hour pricing a plus...
The server was amazing. Very patience with us and the fact that the notepad and pen was on the table for us to communicate was awesome.
Happy hour has a good selection of craft beer near 1/2 price. Starters are also 1/2price from 4-7pm m-f. In nice weather, the deck overlooking the river is also open. We always order from the dinner specials which are alway good.Sometimes it seems that the regular menu can be hit or miss.If you walk over the old train bridge, the path up the Patuxent river is beautiful(closed at dark). Also the Ram's head is attached to a mall with unusual shops. There is an old wedding dress shop and a large antique shop(check hours)
Brunch wasn't great. The food and bloody mary bar were mediocre at best and service was slow. we had cork in our water glasses and the nashville hot chicken was overcooked. we've been here before and had way better. hopefully next time will be an improvement.
We planned to come as a welcoming celebration for my brother in law coming to town. Our server was outstanding and the small inconveniences were not her fault. Our appetizer did not come out until after our entrees and several things that we ordered were not available. She suggested alternates that worked out great and we had a great time.
Good service, food and quick. Went with a basketball team after a tournament.
My experience overall was good. It was just the waitress was slow. But she was nice. The hostess was not friendly at all. Everytime I said thank you he totally ignored me as he was looking right at me. Hostess should be the most inviting person as you enter a restaurant. I ordered the seafood omelet which was good for the most part just needed a little salt and pepper.
The patio setting was nice, which is where we sat. I would go back hoping my experience is better next time.
