Our waiter was amazing. We enjoyed our food so much.
I would recommend for the ambiance and service. I like the decorations.
Red Lantern never disappoints. It's such a unique venue with great food and fabulous service -- a real neighborhood gem.
Such a fantastic first experience at Red Lantern. Christian our waiter was so patient and kind. He helped us choose from so many good menu items and reassured us there’s plenty of food to go around when you order the main courses. There were additions to the menu that he touched on and told us about the weekday promos (I.e $1 dumplings). The food comes out so fast, and there’s not one bad choice on the menu, everything was delicious!! Highly recommend!
Food, service and quality is excellent. Highly recommend
A group of us met for drinks and appetizers and we’re seated in their spacious and comfortable lounge area. It’s a great place to get together with a large group, and although we were there on a fairly slow night, it afforded us more than enough room to relax and the service was outstanding. Food and drinks were very good, and our server (Amanda) was always attentive and friendly. I’ve been here before, but this visit was just a reminder of what a great space this is for a friends get together!
HORRIBLE SERVICE! We gave the tip that we thought was appropriate for the service we received and waiter gave us the check back and asked for more tip! So so rude. Food was not the best, so many other great restaurants in boston with same type of food at much lower price.
Red Lantern is a hidden gem! The atmosphere and service is wonderful and the food is exceptionally fresh and delicious. I will definitely be returning here is the future.
Love it there - took my son and his college friends. All the meals were great
Loved it, the food was fresh and authentic with the right amount of spice!
I love Red Lantern. One of my favorite restaurants to hang out whenever I am in Boston.
We have been here many times over the years. It used to be our favorite date spot, however has fallen off quite a bit. The food and drinks are average price for the city, and used to live up to that price, however this has not been the case our last two times visiting.
The service used to be more dedicated to ensuring the dining experience is exceptional. Recently however they have been more pushy with getting the tables out so they can have the “clubby” vibe. I understand it’s part of the business, would prefer to be able to course out my meal and enjoy a date rather than have an over crowded table because they fire all items right away.
Unfortunately after two straight bad experiences here we will most likely be taking them off the date night list.
Well developed location, service was nothing special and the same can be said about the food. Drinks were good.
Everything was set on time. Our food came right on time and really tasty. I would recommend this over and over again to anyone. Our waitress was amazing too and she attended to us to her very best.
Was a great valentine
We went to Red Lantern for Valentines Day. The ambiance was perfect both well lit and dark. The food was great and the service excellent despite the crowd.
Food was excellent, however the server we had was acting super strange the entire time. Even the couple next to us was turned off by him. We left early due the interaction. Great food though.
We enjoyed the food, also stayed for some dancing and found the music and crowd fun. Drinks were pricey.
I've been to Red Lantern many times. The ambiance is always on point and the service is always attentive. The menu options rotate, so that's nice. The food is usually very good but this experience was just okay. I would compare the food as exactly the same quality you would get from PF Changs (not necessarily a bad thing) but int he past the would really standout. For example, the zucchini noodles are barely edible. The veggies in the stir fry's were very undercooked. The sushi was underwhelming. But, the lo mein was great, orange beef was great and spring rolls were great.
❤️ ... love it went two times in one week
I would recommend Red Lantern for a friend looking to have more of a wild night, but not for a birthday good time dinner and drinks. I left in my specification of my reservation that it was a birthday and the options for this event was never specified or given to me. I believe the food was over priced, it didn’t taste that amazing. However, I do understand prices must be at a certain point due to the restaurant’s location.
I did not like the DJ at all. Very inconsistent with the music genres, you could be listening to the 2000s and the next 20 seconds be listening to High school musical Troy and Gabriella and then 2019 rap. We also payed for two tables, and our space was completely violated by another group that had like a party of about 20 people in just one or two tables. This made the experience super uncomfortable because we didn’t have any space to dance or stand without being pushed. We did spend over $1,000 that night.
Our waiter was super nice ! And so was the promoter. But the ambiance over all for a birthday dinner and party was completely different than expected. The birthday cake that we ordered was so hard that the birthday person didn’t even eat it. Putting a spoon through it required a hammer.
I would come back to red lantern, just not for any special occasion. This reminded me of a house party in college: sweaty and messy.
Horrible horrible horrible food! I could have just as easily opened a box of salt and shoved it down my throat! Waitress was nice, but never asked how the food was. Didn't even have a chance to say something -although I'm sure nothing would have mattered on the already overpriced bill. A very expensive and mediocre chinese restaurant. Not worth the time, money or effort to ever go back.
When you walk into the Red Lantern...you are like wow! It’s beautiful inside. Do yourself a favor don’t go any further.
Choose another place. It’s overpriced and underwhelming for sure. If you do decide to eat here...have several overpriced drinks before you order.
The food is TOTALLY not worth it.
Our server was great but didn’t appreciate that he took it on himself to change our dumpling order when they were out of the ones we ordered. Isn’t that the customer’s choice?....and couldn’t change them because we didn’t see him for the next 15 minutes.
Food and ambiance was great. Only one thing that put me off that we did not get bigger plates for the main course.
Service was fantastic
Tonight was my second time at Red Lantern. I previously went here about 3 years ago. That time I had a positive experience. However, this time, I left angry and cheated. I walked in when I arrived and was not greeted by anyone at the front counter. I waited until they finished their conversation until I got any attention to say the name of my party. Once I got seated, we (a table of 2) waited almost 10 minutes until our waiter delivered the menu. Once we got the menu, we had to ask another waiter to grab our waiter to allow us to order. We tried to order the drink for 2 on the specials menu, which he tried convincing us was “weird” (which was a little off-putting)c but we ordered it anyway. Then, we decided we’d be best off ordering all of our food then because our waiter might not be back in a while. Then, the three dishes we order were delivered in no time, but our drinks were not. We had almost eaten half of our food when someone (not our waiter) delivered our drinks. It took a good amount of time (enough for us to basically finish our drinks) for our waiter to check in on how our food/drink was and explain that the special drink was actually 2 separate drinks to share. I was highly displeased because he was inattentive. I mean, our drinks were brought out closer to the end of the meal! There was no thought put into our waiter’s work. He rarely came over to our table (basically only when he flagged us down). I am very disappointed in the service at Red Lantern. The food was delicious, but because of how we were treated at the restaurant and the lack of good hospitality, it will be tough for us to return. For now, I will not recommend this restaurant to others.
Great overall but the music was way to loud- I shouldn't have to shout to the person I am having dinner with.
This has been one of our favorite restaurants but not up to it previous level. Very few entree on the menu...good variety on separate specials menu. Had the yuzu salmon ...when asked server what TU I was, we were told it was a citrusy taste. Well, it was citrusy all right, but more like bitter grapefruit rind...very unpleasant. Attentive service was lacking. Needed to ask for water, for dessert menu, for the check.
We’ll give it another try since it is so convenient for the Lyric Stage, but only one more
