Great, unpretentious, well prepared Italian food. The location is perfect: relaxed and cozy. Service was friendly and un intruding. The squash risotto was perfect, and the tomato buffala salad wasn’t far behind. Great for any occasion. The neighborhood is really nice, although away from DT SF. Will definitely go back!

Walked in at 5:30. They sat us in a corner table, of all open tables under all the light switches that controlled the lighting in the restaurant. Then interrupted our meal 4 times to change the dim on the lights. They should never seat people at that table, or let it be THE LAST table they use when the restaurant is empty. Really unprofessional. I will not recommend this to others.

I was raised in a hard-core Italian family - in saying that, this place is the real deal . . . Simply stellar food ✅ Great wines by the glass ✅ Phenomenal wait staff that knows the menu, as if they were the Chef ✅ . . . over the top experience had by all. Can’t wait to go back again & again - true experience - end of story.

Delfina was a recommendation from a friend; we were in San Francisco being tourists. I had the seabass special and it was just ok... a little dry and not much taste to be honest. My son had a modified pasta dish. My husband had bolognese and he enjoyed it. The squid appetizer was the best food we had, grilled over greens. Very nice. No wow but a nice evening.

I looked forward to outstanding pasta, better than I can get on the Peninsula. What I tasted was very pleasant, but a notch below some of the best of the mid-Peninsula (Vina Enoteca, Donato Enoteca, Terun -- I've not tried all the best on the Peninsula, but my understanding is that the best of SF is better.)

I had the famous spaghetti pomodoro, and small ravioli (lunette?) filled with cheese and served with peas and pea shoots. I am a fan of pasta al dente, to the extent that I will sometimes ask for it at a midrange Italian place. I felt it wouldn't be necessary here; in fact, the spaghetti was the firmest I've ever been served in a restaurant. Even firmer than I would generally prefer, but interesting and enjoyable for once. The sauce was delicious. The pasta itself didn't strike me as having much taste (compared for example to Martelli), whereas for such a simple dish I'd want the pasta to be a star.

The small ravioli were tender, delicious (both pasta and filling), and burst delightfully with a little liquid when I bit into them. The peas were disappointing. For a Spring-themed dish I'd want them to be at peak sweetness and freshness, but they were not on par with what I'd gotten at a farmer's market 1-2 weeks earlier. When two separate people asked me how my meal was, I shared both the good and the disappointing (the peas), and one laughingly and good-naturedly pointed out that it was officially no longer Spring. This was correct (by 1-2 days) but on reflection not really a satisfying response.

I sat by choice at the bar, because I was told it would offer a better view of the kitchen. This was true, but the view wasn't that close-up or interesting. However, the bar-tender was friendly and generous, offering tastes of a couple of wines as I considered whether to have a half-glass. In the end I chose not to order, and she was totally cool with that.

I'd heard good things about the desserts and bread but I went beforehand to Tartine around the corner instead.

The food was fantastic, but I think the kitchen forgot about our main course before they started shutting down for the night. It took far too long for our mains to come out. As an apology the server brought us bread, and the manager brought us warm olives. Once our mains did come out though, they were absolutely delicious. I just would recommend not booking a 9:30pm reservation.

Food was so good - we came for fresh, handmade pasta and we were not disappointed. Everything was delicious and they paid excellent attention to details. Our server was fantastic. We were here for my boyfriend's birthday and we had a wonderful time. The only complaint was that the tables are extremely close together, but living in SF where every square inch counts, I understand and am used to this.

We loved it and will go back!

We come here every couple months or so. The food is always top notch. But it can get really loud. We were one of the earlier tables on a Friday and the restaurant was 90% empty. It started off great and then 10 minutes in, with an empty restaurant, the music was turned up so loud we could barely hear each other across the table. I think the louder music drives louder voices,, and with an empty restaurant, they should take care to manage the volume accordingly. No one is there to listen to a soundtrack.

Our entrees were delicious, although the portion of my husband's risotto was small. We also shared a rich chocolate pudding (bonet) that was spot-on. We resented having to pay $4.00 for the bread as in the past the Tartine-baked bread had been part of the experience at no additional cost.

Great food and great service at Delfina. The menu was a bit foreign to me and my family (a lot of Italian lingo), but the staff were very accommodating in helping us select food and beverage. They are very patient.

My only complaint is that if it’s above 75 degrees outside this restaurant gets hot. I was sweating while I was eating, but it was still absolutely delicious and worth it.

Note, if you order the pasta, they are smaller portions, but don’t be off put, they are very very rich pastas.

Found this on a list as a hotspot for SF dining. There are so many choices but decided why not. Our Waitress made us feel like we weren’t welcomed to ask questions about the menu. When we did, she was awful at explaining the items (while the table next to us had a wonderful waitress). Once our food arrived, the ravioli order looked like half an order (12 small ones @$21 and nothing else. No pizazz/presentation). My stuffed hen and pancetta agnolotti (also very small and $20+)was good but... The chocolate Torrone Bar for dessert was good. Based on the experience and dining choices we would never go back. However, everyone raves about there pizza next door. That we would try.
