B&O American Brasserie - Hotel Monaco
Most of the food was on point except for the meatloaf and fries. wayyyyy to salty :(
Stopped in for restaurant week...amazing food and drinks. Definitely an experience to remember.
The meal was delicious. The cocktail was very fragrant and tasty.
I really hope they were just short staffed bc it wasn’t anyway to run a restaurant. It took well over 20 minutes to be seated, food was slow and we saw multiple people leave.
Now our serve was super lovely and the manager was doing his best to make sure we all were taken care of. The food was AMAZING!
I’d visit again, but if we had to wait more than 10 minutes in a pretty open restaurant, I’d probably just walk out.
Horrible service for lunch. Had to ask for a menu, coffee, to order and finally the check. Never checked on the table. When the waiter did he was very nice and friendly but not enough staff working to keep up with a half filled restaurant.
The food was fine, not wowed by it. The service is extremely slow and it wasn't that busy for a Sunday brunch. I only saw two waiters so that's possibly the reason, but again the place wasn't crowded either.
A wonderful experience, with excellent service. The people and staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. Food is good to exception. Wish their menu was a little broader.
Great food! I loved the duck wings and desserts.
Enjoyed restaurant week
First time diner during Baltimore Restaurant Week, and I cannot believe that I have not been there sooner. The decor was warm, inviting, and modern. I enjoyed my meal at the bar and the bartender was as nice as could be. He was engaging and checked on me to make sure I was alright, but he let me be to read the news on my phone. Takes a skilled bartender to know how to read people. I also had the pleasure of seeing the cocktails he made, he has skills and is very detail oriented. For the meal: I had the lobster avocado salad, the sea scallops, and the coconut cream cheesecake. All three were outstanding. The portions were perfect; I was full but did not feel as though I overindulged. Excellent experience overall and certainly a hidden gem in downtown Baltimore. It’s hard not to be a regular there. I’ll be back for sure.
We waited over 45 minutes for the appetizers because they didn't have one of the ingredient. The server never informed us of the shortage until we asked her what was causing the delay. The duck wings were amazing. The main course was the scallops, it was over cooked and too salty. We declined the dessert. Overall we were disappointed.
Came here to meet someone on business who was staying at the Hotel, so low expectations. Also it happened to be Restaurant Week, which usually means you are not getting the typical/usual experience. We were very pleasantly surprised by the quality & inventiveness of the food, and the service was friendly and good. However, the pacing was pretty slow given that we were there very early and there were not very many people in the restaurant.
Service was lack-luster for brunch reservation. We were not made aware of any specials. We were rushed to place our orders as our served loomed over us. Build-your-own omelet for $16 was limited to 3 add-one including the cheese. Server was unwavering about that “rule” although the menu did not have that stated. We were charged $5 for a glass of milk. Probably won’t be back.
The service was very fast, the food came out very quick and it was delicious. I've waited longer at an applebees! This place was great.
We are so very delighted to hear about you experience! It sounds like you really enjoyed yourself! We hope to see you soon!
I was really looking forward to a nice dinner. I had left at a lot of the restaurants near me on open table. The reviews suggested to me that this restaurant would be good and reasonably price. It was terrible first the waitress brought me the glass of wine I ordered. I tasted it and it barely tasted like wine. I told the waitress it was no good she did accommodate me and brought me another glass of wine. Then she said to me I think that wine you didn’t like was going better or something like that. That unnerved me. Meanwhile I ordered softshell crab a Baltimore specialty. They brought my softshell crab with in three Minutes of ordering it. I felt like the dish was just sitting there in the back under a hot light and it was $35 I don’t know why you have this restaurant even on open table I expect OpenTable to only last very good restaurants consider taking it off your list
Service was quite slow both for drinks and food.
I used to love this restaurant but not anymore. The server completely forgot about us and we ended up waiting almost a half hour for drinks! Completely unacceptable!
Good food and service
A bit pricey
First and last visit. The food, when it finally arrived, was quite good. However, we twice had to get up because there was no waiter or hostess in the restaurant area: once to fill our own empty water glasses; and, once to request that the rest of the brunch be served.
Terrible service! Food came out wrong and at different times. We were disappointed.
The food was all terrible.
Great Caesar salad and soft shell crab. My wife enjoyed the special,, a lobster ravioli.
Service was from a fairly raw untrained server with limited menu knowledge or wine knowledge, but a lot of desire to do well. Needs some hospitality training, but has potential
Food and service excellent, and a great experience overall. Beautiful building. My only quibble is that prices are high— for the $32 crab cake entree, I expected two crab cakes, but there was only one. Sides are $8 each extra.
We had a 6pm reservation and we were seated upstairs quickly. We were the first table seated there. The hostess gave us menus but no drink menus, so we asked for one when our server introduced himself. We ordered and noticed that our server seemed to be fairly new to the job, and before we knew it, the upstairs was completely full and he was the only person serving the room. There were 2 tables with 5 or more guests, too.
We got our drinks and appetizers, and then nothing. An hour later, we finally got his attention to get more water and he asked if we wanted our check - we had never received the entrees. We had to get to the theater, so we told the manager to cancel our entrees. He comped the drinks and appetizers, but really didn’t seem too concerned about the miserable situation he put his employee and customers in.
I can tolerate terrible service if everything else is good, but the food was meh and the atmosphere was odd. Overall, this is the worst dining experience I’ve had in quite a while.
Difficult experience; waiter was kind and did his best but overall experience was pretty bad. We had a reservation for 4 and were seated at a round table for 7; couldn’t hear each other, food came out late and my 7 yo daughter was served last (pizza). Won’t return but appreciated our waiters efforts (issue was all front of the house and kitchen staff).
We were one of the first to order but one of the last to get served. Sea scallops were nice but only 3 pieces. Prime rib was really good. Rockfish just so so.
Although the food was good, the service was terrible. Our server seemed overwhelmed and they didn't appear to have enough staff running food. We sat right near the kitchen area and watched meals sit for 10 min or more on the counter waiting to be delivered. We had tickets for a show at 8 pm. We arrived at 5 pm, ordered our meals at 5:30 and received them fairly quickly. We ordered dessert at 6:45 saw it come up on the counter around 7 and waited nearly 20 min for it to be delivered to us, during which time we watched the ice cream melt in front of our eyes and worried about whether we would even have time to eat it before we needed to leave for our show. I ordered what was advertised as a blueberry sorbet, but when it arrived, it was blue berry ice cream. Because I am lactose intolerant, I was unable to eat it and gave it to a friend who was with me. Another member of our party ordered a Red Velvet Brownie sundae, but received chocolate cake and a scoop of (melted) vanilla ice cream instead. Because it took so long to get our deserts, we couldn't even ask for them to be replaced and we had already paid the check, so we also could not ask that the price be taken off our bill. I would not recommend it if you are scheduled to be anywhere after dinner.
Thank you for taking the time to speak with me personally on the phone! I look forward to having you back at B&O! - Vera
The brussel sprouts salad was fantastic as was the charcuterie.
Service was a bit slow; the servers seemed to have too many tables!
We were in a bit of a hurry, since we were going to the Hippodrome. Once we ordered our food came pretty quickly. We did manage to get out in time!
Great service. Awesome food. What more could you want?
I would recommend it, definitely, for brunch! The food was delectable and satisfying.
The food at the B&O American Brasserie was average - while the prices and descriptions of food make one think what is coming will be special this is certainly not the case. The buratta flat bread was overdone, the brussel sprouts were uncooked and the entire dish felt unfinished. The chicken was tasty however all in all this is not a special restaurant and the value was not realized. Not a place I will return to.
It was pretty expensive but the food was amazing. Would definitely recommend!
Too hot—where’s the AC?
Kale salad was delicious, love that they have cava by the glass, sorghum duck wings were fabulous, soft shell crabs in season and perfect! My second time dining here and not disappointed! Super friendly service too!
Food was great, waiter was great!!!
Everything was good. We had small plates and a few drinks before a show at the Hippodrome. The octopus was wonderful and the drinks were well-thought out. We found the flatbread too chewy, but overall, we enjoyed our date night here.
Great cocktails, delicious food, and a great happy hour with colleagues!
A really nice place food was pretty good ,not many choices on the menu mothers day but over all pretty good. my credit card was charged twice for my meal but the service is great ,friendly and helpful staff.
Our reservation was for 5:00 and the restaurant was empty. We couldn’t pick the table because apparently they all were assigned. We asked nicely again to change the table and were refused (remember empty place).
Our waiter was absolutely great and all her suggestions were just delicious ( exception was a goat cheese mashed potatoes, that was very salty) it wasn’t her fault. My husband and son shared the Tomahawk Ribeye that was good. Unfortunately it was served warm ( if you pay $99 for a stake it better be served HOT) but tasted good.
Good food, good service. Walking distance to the Hippodrome where we were seeing a show. Exactly what we were looking for.
