Japanese
Sake no Hana bar and restaurant is housed on the first floor of a modernist Grade II listed building in the heart of St James, offering modern Japanese dining. The a la carte menu provides a variety of hot and cold appetisers, charcoal grill, Toban and Kamameshi dishes, while sushi and sashimi are prepared to order at the 13 seat sushi bar. A carefully selected list of sakes, Japanese whiskeys and other wines, spirits and liqueurs complement the dishes offered in the restaurant. Sake no Hana’s interiors were designed my esteemed architect Kengo Kuma and the bar includes a beautiful futuristic chandelier, offering the perfect space for post work cocktails. Cloakroom available. ALIPAY and weChat payment accepted.

Came here for my 21st birthday and was thoroughly pleased with the visit. Exceptional service from entrance to table, gorgeous food and incredible atmosphere. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable and the surprise birthday dessert was a nice touch

By far the best Japanese restaurant that I have been to. Everything was PERFECT.

Currently lost for words but it’s definitely a place worth 5 stars.

Have eaten here about six times and it seems to be getting worse each time. Will start looking at others

I took my daughter after work for an early supper. We sat at the counter and enjoyed some of the best food we’ve ever had. It’s not cheap, bit you’re in St James so top prices come with the territory. Genuinely loved the food, we will be going back.

Informed the restaurant in advance that it was for a 60th birthday and we would be bringing some 60th themed napkins and table decorations. On arrival told this was not allowed as they had their own package.

Menù very poorly structured. Not clear which order the dishes will be served in. Example, we were told the sushi would be served last - it was the first to arrive. One guest had not received any of their choices for almost 2 hours, whilst another guest has received 3 of their choices.

Chosen wine had sold out. Sommelier suggested an alternative, but this was a totally different grape.

Some dishes are grossly overpriced, such as the hot pot rice. Reportedly containsi octopus but this was hardly discernible amongst the meagre bowl of rice.

In short, cramped, extremely disorganised and grossly overpriced for the offering.

Felt rushed.
Plates were cleared very quickly.
Drinks were poured with drops spread all over the table.
Quality of the food is great but would appreciate a bit more time.

Lovely dinner. Excellent produce, well-made and expertly presented, high quality service (albeit a little pensive at times). Very special atmosphere, beautiful lighting & ambience. A bit steep but worth it for the special occasion. Will definitely be back to sample more of the vegetarian options - there were a surprising amount on and off menu!

This is not my first time visiting Sake no Hana and is not the last. Definitely one of my favourite places in London. I had the joy of eating by the sushi chefs counter and a table. The food is incredible but good food can be found in many places in the city. The SERVICE is AMAZING! From the hostesses welcoming smiles when arriving through the articulate but easy-going waiters, friendly sushi chefs, and incredibly knowledgable sake sommeliers.

My pro tip is: If you want to get the best of the atmosphere - be there early, when the place is full the service will not have the opportunity to have those interesting and engaging conversations that you could have.

Too expensive for what it is and the food was generally forgettable. Superb service and the staff incredibly attentive and kind.

Too much alcohol was offered on the menu for people who are not heavy alcohol drinkers. Would have preferred more effort on the food. Aubergine starter was disgusting, tasted of cheap peanut butter from Asda. The aubergines were cut in very big chunks with no delicacy, it was hard to eat it.

The food lacks Japanese finesse and more attention to detail. The candy floss rib eye steak dish was too soupy and very little steak was added. Truffle rice was delicious and the addition of dill was a clever combination. Sushi and nigiris were good and fresh but not mind blowing.

The puddings were the defining factor, looked very ornate and elaborate but they were tasteless and dull. We tried the matcha roll and the coconut bamboo stick. Both of them looked impressive but tasted of grease. The fruits on their sides that had been soaked on sugar (apricot and kumquat) added nothing to these dishes. The chocolate soil on the bamboo stick had a horrible taste and unpleasant texture.

The venue is very nice and relaxing and we felt very welcome and very cared for by the staff.

I would like to say that I will come back but the food is not good enough, it requires a lot of improvement.

It’s a gorgeous looking restaurant but the food was average in comparison to the sister restaurant and other similar restaurants. It was a busy night and the service was poor. We had to keep stopping waiters to attend to us because they seemed overwhelmed.

With outstanding food, Sake no Hana is a very pleasant restaurant located conveniently and with extremely friendly staff. In all, our experience was flawless, everyone left satisfied. The price is quite steep, but that is what it costs to have such a fabulous dining experience with drinks at a premium location in London.

The food and service are unbelievable, the drinks could do with being a little more generous I.e just full glasses especially on the short cocktails to make the Umai Saturday menu feel even more value for money. The food however is outstanding.

Was at sake no Hana on Friday night, we hadn’t been for a while and wasn’t sure what to expect, as the first time we went was unforgettable!
Our table was booked for 5.30pm but was a little disappointed, as the restaurant didn’t open till 5.30pm.
We had planned to get there a bit earlier, so we could have a few cocktails, but as we had a show booked time was short!
That being said just as before the food was amazing, service and ambience amazing, and we have already recommended to some of our friends!

We chose the £39 4 course special with half a bottle of red or white wine to celebrate as the Saturday 7 course special with champagne had just expired. The wine was not as good as specials with champagne but the food was excellent. Enjoyed the miso soup, sushi, sashimi, tempura prawn and veg with rice and had vanilla ice cream and mango sorbet for pudding. They even remembered our wedding anniversary! Such a nice touch (see photo). I would say please bring back the Saturday 7 course 1/2 bottle of champagne lunch special!

The service was extremely slow and below average, not to mention it is supposed to be a fine-dining restaurant.
One of the staff asked if we were ready to order, and when I was about to ask him for a recommendation for sake, he smiled at me and told me he's not a waiter...he doesn't know anything...
Everything is either too bland or too salty. The best part is the miso soup which you could probably get for 99p... Some of the "fusion sushi" is simply hilarious... Fired tofu wrapped on rice?
When we asked for the bill, the waiter was very reluctant...he literally said "hmm... Okay". When we asked if we could pay by card, he replied "yeah... Why not?"
This place feels like a prison which you are gonna be stucked in for at least 2 hours. But the good part is you get to use fancy aesop hand-wash... So make sure you pay a visit to the loo.
If you want to impress your friend, family, coworkers, loved ones, or your sugar baby, please take them somewhere else... This is a place for people who enjoy pretending they are cultured, appreciate food and know so much about it.

We have been to Sake no Hana several times and this was a bit of a disappointment. We had the sushi Saturday and they have changed the menu slightly, not for the better in our opinion. We felt rushed through the seven courses and twice had plates removed while still eating! Overall it was ok which is a shame as we used to love Sake no Hana.
