   The views, service and entrees were amazing! Our server was attentive, coming by to check in regularly along with support staff regularly clearing dishes! Thank you! Main entrees and appetizers were fantastic! Particularly loved the options to get combinations and try a little of everything! The one downfall was the wedge salad. The lettuce was clearly brown and the kitchen should have caught it. The server handled it fantastically and removed it from our bill.

   This was my first time visiting Roy's and will definitely not be my last. The service is unparalleled! Starting with getting a cool glass of water as soon as you sit down and it being refilled constantly without asking. The server was amazing letting us know how long the desert was taking that night in case we wanted to order it, so we would not wait too long after our entree, the busser offered us coffee as well and we gladly ordered it with our desert. The food was incredible definitely worth your penny, every single staff member was very attentive, I would highly recommend this restaurant, we made reservations for 7:30 and it was the perfect time to see the sun set down in the marina. 10/10. 💎💎💎💎💎 The only small downside was that the Marriot parking lot was full (which is not their fault of course) and we ended up parking in the seaport village parking lot, the hostess gladly offered us a validated ticket anyways in case they could honor it, but we ended up shopping at seaport village and getting validation in one of their stores.

   What a fantastic night we had! Thank you to Zach our server who was hilarious, and laughed with us all night long. We closed the place down with our fantastic bottle of wine! We will be back for sure. Oh, the food was great! The view was great! But the people were the best. Thank you for the memories and the laughs.

   We had a reservation time but they were slammed so we waited 20 minutes for a table. The wait continued with service delays, mix up in drinks ordered and my daughter’s main course steak plate came out incorrectly twice before the third steak arrived with the correctly paired dietary sides. Her third steak arrived by the manager and I asked him to please check on our starter salad and sushi that hadn’t ever arrived either. The service jumped On it but I do feel like he should Of followed up with an apology or credit of some sort, even if just my Glass of wine. Paid full bill and the experience was not worth it at all :(

   Wonderful dining experience on a beautiful day in San Diego. We sat outside, enjoy their Pau Hana menu, which is for early dinner between 4-5:30. We were there to enjoy dinner before a concert at the Rady Shell. The menu is set as 3 course dinner with at appetizer, main course and dessert. We split items in all categories, as they are enough to share. The pork rib's and spring rolls were delicious appetizers. Our main courses were the Jumbo Shrimp and the Macadamia crusted white fish, perfect compliments to our dinner. Fantastic dinner on the the water!

   Roy's is a hotel restaurant and the ambiance is exactly that: acceptable/ok but not hip/exciting. We ordered the butter fish and braised rib combo which was delicious but the sushi was a miss because the rice tasted like it came straight from the fridge (they did replace it but sushi is so common in SD you would think how could a fine establishment like this possibly mess that up). Ambiance seemed kinda dark and maybe would have been better during the day when you can see the marina outside. Overall it just seems like Roy's is a restaurant past its prime whose glory days were in the 90's when it La Jolla location was still open. Wish I'd tried it back then!

    The location and food were perfect. We sat outdoors and enjoyed the fresh air feeling . The food was very good and fresh, excellent wine selection. The thing that stands out most of all was the level of service we experienced. Our Server, Lexi, was so upbeat and welcoming the minute she greeted us until we finished our meal. She acknowledged our anniversary and provided us with a complimentary dessert. Thank you

    We made an advance reservation via Open Table. When we got to the restaurant, we were told they didn't have a table available and wouldn't for awhile. The hostess couldn't approximate when we would be seated. We ended up eating in the bar. It's frustrating not to have your reservation honored, but doubly frustrating when you see them seating walk-ins ahead of you in line when you are early for your reservation time! They should have held the open table for the reservation. Also, we ordered for two people. One entree arrived cold. Chefs at a restaurant of this caliber should be capable of getting warm food out to a two-top! This is a beautiful restaurant, but it doesn't live up to the expectation of basic good service that I would expect.

    We had two different servers ask to take drink orders. We told the second one that another had already checked in with us. The end result was that nobody followed up for 15 minutes. We flagged down the second server that had come to our table and told the first one hadn't come back and would he take our order. He did and was very apologetic. His subsequent service was excellent. The food was excellent but about a half serving for what was obviously priced to pay the rent to be on the harbor....i.e., very expensive.

    Roy's needs a reboot! Menu is pricey with very limited choices on their lunch menu. And because we dined during lunch, this is my focus for the review. Roy's IS a seafood based restaurant but also smack dab in the middle of the Marriott Marquis, on a very busy boardwalk catering to tourists wearing cutoff jeans with undiscerning tastebuds. My guest and I sat on the patio people watching, for over an hour. These are not folks who will float in and spend $34 on a lunch entree.' And in fact they don't! Besides myself and my guest there were a total of 4 people dining on this Saturday!! We witnessed one couple sit down, order water, peruse the menu and leave. So what to do, you may ask? Reinvent Roy's!! Throw some tiki torches in front, add some tropical plants to the patio and reimagine the menu with a few of the Roy favorite seafood items. Add in one amazing burger (Hawaiian style) A skewered chicken and latest carb craze grain. Up the appetizer menu, big time!! What happened to that amazing edamame' app?? This is just one locals opinion but after seeing the lack of customers on a very busy weekend, I'd say I'm spot on! Good luck Roy's!

    We have gone to the Newport location numerous times and this was just ok… the food was lacking in flavor and the seafood combo plate was out of scallops. The restaurant took care of us with the desserts, but everything was just ok, nothing spectacular.

    Went for a Father’s Day dinner. Our waiter was fantastic and very helpful. Overall our experience was good. Due to the holiday dinner and the concert that evening all our food came out at different times. The waiter did his job perfectly and handled it well

    I’m somewhat of a regular here and it’s normally very good and worth the price. I’ve had two bad experiences here and both were on a holiday with a “special menu”. This one was Fathers Day. Had I known ahead of time it was a special menu I would have avoided. Basically the staff was doing the best they could but my meal was just bad. Undercooked (I sent back and it came back same). I still will return but definitely not on a holiday.

    I’ve been at other Roy’s and this one was very disappointing. Food was ok. Sat outside and it look dirty. When they bus the tables they slammed plates and it was loud like we were at a diner. This is supposed to be high dining. Only good thing about the visit was the server.

    We came in through the Marriott front entrance. And arrived to our reservation. But had a little searching to do through the Marriot to get to Roy’s. We were a little confused in the last bit of stairs to go down to Roy’s dinning area, everyone looked too busy to greet us although there weren’t many customers at the time of our reservation. In all honesty, if I wouldn’t have made the reservation, I would’ve thought they were closed. Anyways as soon as a saw an employee buried in a book (it looked work related) behind the elevator, I approached to ask where to check in, to which she pointed and continued with the book. I was still a little baffled because there were a lot of employees but no one approached us to guide us in the right direction. It’s definitely meant for proactive customers. But as soon as we reached the host behind a booth and gave her my name and reservation time, she proceeded to takes us to our outdoor dining seats. I booked because of the reviews I had seen, but I feel like it was a little overrated. It does not look as high Enf as the pictures in their website make it look like. I felt a little catfished and embarrassed at first, if it we’re for the food and the server it would be a one star all around. I usually don’t review much. But considering I was sent an email saying I did not arrive at my reservation, I was honestly offended, because for one it felt like an endeavored to find where to check in, only for them not to even take the time to properly “check me in”. And two, I expected better customer service for the price. The food however was satisfactory and our server was great. I personally just expected more based on previous reviews. I don’t know if I’d order again, maybe just “take out” if possible.

    Very disappointed with our experience. Our server was not attentive. The salmon was over cooked, our water glasses were never filled, server didn’t ask our guest if they wanted other items beside the entry. Upsetting.

    Delicious food, had to drive all the way from LA to enjoy due to rest of the Roy’s closure in LA county. Hope this is not the last time we see Roy’s, hopefully the closure else where won’t affect this last remaining Roy’s
