We had hoped for a high level restaurant but the food was just OK. The service, atmosphere, parking, etc. were all good. We probably will not return unless we hear about big changes in the quality of the food.

We've been coming to Sanderlings for the Thanksgiving buffet for quite a few years, and it has consistently been wonderful! The food is delicious, the staff is great, and of course the view can't be beat!

It was a beautiful day at Sanderlings yesterday for our birthday lunch but we were cold on the patio under the covered area. We could not use a neater. The food was wonderful, the service was good but it was very busy. Our server was helpful and provided very good service. We enjoyed out time there and our meal except for being cold.

We had mosquitos in our food and water, the food was bland we ordered the herb roasted chicken and salmon. Our daughter got the kids cheeseburger and the best thing we had all night was fries. The salmon still had a frozen taste to it. We ordered a Diet Coke and our daughter wanted so some she’s type 1 diabetic turn out it was regular coke. Her blood sugars spiked due to the staff neglecting our order.

We love Seascape and we do come to Sanderlings every time because we love the view. But, the food has never recovered after Covid. They use to have the best menu and food. The filet was the best I've ever had and they no longer serve it. Instead, we got a New York steak for $50 which was the quality of a $10 steak at the store. It wasn't good at all, but the short ribs are delicious. They also didn't have their burger as an option any longer either which was disappointing. We will continue to come here because we love the view but I wish they would bring the food quality back to what it was pre covid.

This is one of two dining options available while staying at Seascape. The outdoor patio is a delightful location for a sunny meal. The food was unremarkable. The service was fine. We did not feel rushed and enjoyed the atmosphere.

Not sure how a resort that is known for beachside brunch and lunch...can be out of Bloody Mary Mix and have no one available or willing to go get some so that the bar is properly stocked. Felt so bad for our server because people were annoyed. Both our table and another table went and got their own bloddy mary mix - so that we could have our drink of choice. It's absolutely unacceptable. And a very easy fix. It's called Door Dash. Order a case and make sure the bar has what they need.

Cant recommend this place. I knew with 3 stars on yelp this might not have been the best place but the ambience and view and convenience since it’s walking distance from the resort was too much to pass up. The staff and view were great but the food was quite poor. The prawns appetizer was good and had solid cocktail sauce. The angus steak with mashed potatoes and veggies was solid. However the pasta and clam chowder were horrible. The clam chowder was very watered down and bacon inside of it was floppy and in big chunks. The pasta was the worst thing we had since it didn’t have enough sauce, the noodles weren’t cooked enough and it came out cold. We won’t be back. If you’re staying at the resort grab a drink and an appetizer there at most and order Doordash.

José took great care of us for our celebration brunch with our daughter and son-in-law. We sat outside on a beautiful sunny day, had the salmon benedicts, and didn’t want to leave this lovely setting!

It was a chilly night, although eating indoors our table was opposite a door to the outside patio that was constantly being opened so we were cold. A request to move to another table was denied as said other tables were booked. The mains took a very long time to arrive. The portions were extremely small & tasted less than average. Won’t be back.

There was an ice cream social and the events people ran out of ice cream early on. It was poorly planned, leaving child kids who arrived later but still within the event time frame disappointed. Then the restaurant would not allow us to order (and pay gor) ice cream sundaes for our disappointed kids despite seeing it offered on the menu.

We dined at Sanderlings almost daily in our recent staycation at Seascape. Enjoyed Salmon, Halibut, braised short ribs, crab cakes, Reuben, burger, shrimp salad we rotated ordering daily. Can’t go wrong with any of these. Although the halibuts and crab cakes are my personal favorites and my husband couldn’t skip their Reuben or burger for lunch. Definitely reserve outdoor seating for early dinner to enjoy the sunset. Also request for the heat lamps as you get seated. We also enjoyed seating at the bar. Aaron and Brandon took good care of us.

Poorly prepared and overpriced food--not moderately overpriced but extremely overpriced: undercooked tiger prawns with a cocktail sauce that tasted like only catsup was used to make it; vegetable soup with raw corn interspersed with tasteless vegetables. Poor service from waitress. I am assuming the resort has a captive audience because I don't think anyone would return there given the prices and the quality. The best part of eating at Sanderlings--possibly the only good part-- is the view and the proximity to a nice walk nearby.

Service was terrible. Saw waitress once. Took 30 minutes to get drink order. Everyone around seemed to be experiencing the same. We thought it odd that on a holiday weekend there would be only 4 tables for dinner. Now we know why.

The event from the night before trash and all were blocking the normally fantastic view. I got the two egg breakfast, they forgot the potatoes. My husband got eggs Benedict the sauce was sweet and tangy (turned?) English muffin was not toasted. My daughter got a $14 kids waffle that was two triangles of a small waffle and four blueberries. We tried again for the view but will not be going back.

I brought an out of town guest who is a foodie and who writes critiques for certain publications. She is a Pescatarian. I really wanted to have a good experience with her during her visit. In advance, I showed her online menus from top restaurants in Santa Cruz County. She chose Sanderlings. We arrived early to our reservation & decided to enjoy a drink in the bar. There was only one bartender on duty with his back to patrons & several people waiting to place orders. After 15 minutes of being ignored, one lady walked out. Finally a manager asked if everything was ok. We told her the situation & she sent a young waitress over to take our orders. Our 2 margaritas weren’t mixed correctly & tasted awful; also there was no creative flair to them. They were small. Based on the type, our glasses should have been rimmed with sugar, but the rims were bare. My margarita was strawberry and I would have thought it might have been garnished with fresh strawberries, but instead a generic lime wedge was shoved onto the rim, the same as was on all other rims we observed. We both returned our full drinks & were told we didn’t need to pay for them. At the restaurant we were seated at a window table but not one with an ocean view as specified in our reservation. We opened our menus & were again disappointed because the online menus we had based our restaurant decision upon were longer with more seafood options than were actually offered. We wound up only ordering 3 hors d'oeuvres & 2 cocktails. The cocktails were good but not excellent. The hors d'oeuvres weren’t tasty at all. The calamari was cold, not crispy, flavorless. 2 Crab cakes were small & not special. A young female employee argued with my friend about payment for the 2 bar drinks we were told we didn’t need to pay for! Final bill was $125!! I’m not at all happy. I’m extremely embarrassed. Never again.

I wish this place could improve. We live in the neighborhood and continue to give this place a chance but unfortunately their food and service is so poor. Today we tried again only to receive food that wasn’t fully prepared. I tried to reach Managment but never had my call returned….. I wish I could support this local gem, but I don’t think I will anymore….

Dined Mother’s Day buffet. My expectations for an $85 per person buffet did not include flavorless food, non working waffle machines, carvery stations not prepared on time, raw, not rare lamb, overcooked beef, people waiting for bacon and one 3/4 glass of cheap “champagne”. This is usually an acceptable restaurant. They need to stick to their standards and not try to go out of their comfort zone.
