Santa Fe Mexican Grill & Bar - Newark
Very good food and great customer service. Social distancing is being done along with sanitizer and masks. Felt very comfortable.
After requesting a booth in the rear is the restaurant we were seated promptly and safely. As always our dinners were delicious.
Food was good. Very expensive for fajitas that were mostly vegetables, 22 dollars. This place is right in the heart of U of D so expect very loud atmosphere. Will never go back due to the loud, vulgar and drunk college kids. It’s a shame they ruined dinner for a lot people.
It was hard to hear people at your table. Order was not completely correct and we paid for extra item.
My main problem is that we were nit checked in and did nit get credit on our Open Table account
The food was delicious I would def recommend the fish tacos. The drinks were strong and worth the money. I also live how easy it was to make a reservation online for outside . Would def recommend and will be going back
They have the best margaritas in the area, and there isn't a close second. The food is also very good and consistent.
I am always pleased at Santa Fe. From their food to their service!!!
I forgot the Name of our server but he was excellent!!! Thank you.
We had a delicious meal and great service. However, we had a party of 6 next to us in a booth, that was more than energetic, they were loud, and used a lot of profanity.
Enjoyed catching up with a friend while munching on nachos and then salads. They seemed to a have steady flow of patrons. We were at a booth near the kitchen door. My only issue was that we left smelling strongly of the food that was cooked while we were there.
Great. Really liked the restaurant
We went to Santa Fe Saturday evening after a movie. For an easy-in, easy-out restaurant, it's very good. Ambience was very good with tables and the bar all filled. My beef chimichanga was just what I wanted and my wife enjoyed her chicken quesadillas.
The food quality seems to be diminishing (as do the portion sizes). The chipotle wings were very good (although served with no plates on which to eat them). The alambre was ok, as were the mole chicken enchiladas. The blackened chicken burrito appeared to be filled with ingredients that were just pulverized to mush. Nothing (rice, chicken, beans, etc.) was discernible inside of it. The burrito came with no sides and was just bland and very dry. The other dishes were served with a side of Mexican rice that was dried up and lacking in any flavor. The menu appears to have gotten smaller at this restaurant, but the quality of the food has not gone up with what should be a more focused service.
The food just wasn’t good and the service pleasant but not great. It reminded me of food you would get in the frozen aisle at the supermarket. Even the Mexican food chains are better. Pass on this place!
Love this place!
Kristen was very attentive. Our server Zach was excellent! He made sure that the birthday occasion was very special.
Santa Fe has been a favorite restaurant of ours since it first opened. Food is consistently good and the frozen margaritas are excellent. Prices are very good, portions are good and the staff is always friendly and attentive. Thank you.
Waitress was great. Was there at a non-busy time so it's difficult to judge what the noise level would be on a Friday or Saturday night. Food was yummy. Brunch menu was fantastic!
Wait staff was attentive but kitchen and bar were very slow. Food and drinks were good one received.
Didn’t get the full menu basically made reservations for bar snack food
have been going to Santa Fe for years and still enjoy their food. Our waiter was excellent and so are the frozen margaritas. We will be back soon!
Drinks were excellent, food was unique and amazing!!! Would go back again!! Just wish it was not so loud. Music, people talking, nothing to absorb sound had difficulty hearing across the table. Beside it being extremely noisy was a great experience!
I went for Mother’s Day with my daughter and her boyfriend. Guacamole was not made fresh and they just put some round scoops from the kitchen into the mortar and pestle bowl and it wasn’t very good. Baja fish tacos or fried and dry. Our server was not friendly and seem like she didn’t want to be there. I come to Newark often but won’t be back.
I like the food and the service. But it was busy so I didn’t like where we were seated.
GOT THERE, SEATED, AND TOOK ABOUT 10 MINS BEFORE A WAITRESS CAME OVER TO TAKE ORDER. TOOK ANOTHER 15 MINS BEFORE DRINKS ARRIVED. WAS TOLD THAT THE KITCHEN WAS BACKED UP AND THAT IS WHY OUR APPETIZER (NACHOS) STILL WASN'T READY. AFTER 45 MORE MINS AND STILL NO APPETIZER, WE LEFT. ON WAY OUT, SPOKE TO WAITRESS WHO STILL BLAMED KITCHEN. LET HER KNOW THAT IT WAS UNACCEPTABLE TO BE SEATED FOR 1 HOUR PLUS AND NO APPETIZER SERVED. WE WILL NEVER GO BACK! ALSO NO MANAGER WAS VISIBLE ON SIGHT, YET ALONE COME TO OUR TABLE TO EXPRESS REGRET OVER THE DELAY IN GETTING OUR APPETIZER/ENTREE.
Waiter never came to our table. No one ever acknowledged us. Left after waiting 20 minutes.
After waiting for 35 minutes for a table, my friends and I were told there were still 3 parties to be seated ahead of us as well as reservations. There was no one else there waiting, and we could see three open tables. I went on OpenTable and saw a 6:45 reservation, so I booked it. Around 635, I went up to check in with the hostesses (still three open tables clean and set with silverware) and was told there were no tables available yet since they were not expecting another reservation. We waited another 10 minutes for a table and no one was seated in that time. We stared at the empty tables while being told there was nothing available to then finally be sat at 6:45 in one of those tables. Once we finally were sat the food and service was good as usual, but we were very turned off by how rude the hostesses were towards us.
Walked into Santa Fe, the noise level was absolutely crazy, but that is the bar side. We were seated in the restaurant side...much quieter. Our waitress was amazing, very attentive. The food was delicious. I ordered the chicken fajitas, OUTSTANDING! I can't wait to go back.
The food is not good that food is not Mexican at all I definitely didn’t like it.
Good value and nice Mexican menu selections
This was our first time here as we were over in Delaware shopping. Great atmosphere and very nice staff. Food was excellent and a good value.
We have been eating at Santa Fe since it first opened. Food is consistently good and the frozen margaritas are always a hit!
Absolute best margaritas in DE!! Don’t change a thing!! Also crab nachos are delicious! Get them every time. Just wish there was more consistency with the nachos. The location that was in Wilmington was pretty consistent with the crab, cheese, and sauce ratio.
Everything was really good - we all enjoyed our meals and service was great.
Thank you for the review! Glas you enjoyed your meal!
Our server was nice, very sweet. The food was ok, nothing that would have me rushing to be back again.
Good value. Food was slow coming, cool but tasty. Good for a young crowd.
Very noisy, so a bit hard to communicate. Chips and salsa excellent. Margarita seemed to have almost no alcohol. Order beer instead!
Very busy for a Tuesday night. The bar was REALLY backed up. Took 15 - 20 minutes to get a drink.
Stopped in after a Lacrosse tournament. Upon entering, I didnt think much but we were pleasantly surprised!! The service was outstanding and so was the food. The food took a bit long to come out but worth the wait for the quality and flavor of it. We all loved it. Would definitely go back if we are in the area.
