Beet hummus was great. Crab cake meh ! Burger was nice. I feel like this place needs a remodel And deep cleaning. The host was a charming young man. Waiter was old school and sweet. Wish he would have checked in a couple extra times instead of walking by my table like he was wearing horse blinders. Lol Will I return…maybe after they remodel.

We both had salads and mine was delicious! Great dressing, very tender meat and just the right ratio of lettuce, toppings and dressing. A bit pricey for a salad but everywhere is these days. Will be back for sure!

I have been visiting the Ship Tavern at the Brown Palace for many years. I have yet to be disappointed. Frank, our waiter, is a veritable institution at the Ship Tavern, as he has worked there for many decades. Excellent food, service and the price point was good. I look forward to returning!

Great venue, been going for 50+ years. The chef needs to put the chicken pot pie back on menu. Fish and chips - terrible. If I had not been with guests would have sent meal back to the kitchen. Don't waste your money of the fish and chips. I peeled all the dough off the fish. Not a crispy batter at all, more like raw pancake batter. Chef should be ashamed of himself for serving this meal. Even the "chips" were undercooked nad hard. But, the Old Fashion was great. Paul Harter, Phoenix, Arizona

We sat at the bar and our bartender Danny was great. Later we sat for dinner and the food was ok. Ordered the ‘famous’ prime rib med-rare. It arrived pretty well done. I get that it’s a roast and there isn’t unlimited rare pieces, but that should be mentioned when ordering. It was leather. The wine selection was good, but the pricing made no sense. Things like $28 a gl or $190 for the bottle. The one below it was $27 a gl or $104 a bottle. That’s some pricing I don’t understand and nor do the staff when asked. The ambiance is fun and so was staying in the hotel. If they dimmed the lights and stepped up their game it could be great.

Food was overpriced for what we got. Maybe we just ordered the wrong thing, we got the seafood pasta and chicken picata and there wasn’t much flavor if I’m honest. The charcuterie board was fantastic and so was the wine though! Great service, just lacking on the entrees.

Runaway quickly, do not dine at the Ships Tavern. We ordered the crab cake and fish and chips. The crab cake arrived cold and we sent it back. The second crab cake was not much warmer and the flavor was weird. The fish and chips arrived room temperature and the taste was overwhelming with oil. We will never dine here again.

We have been to the Ship Tavern many times over the years. It seems to be going steadily downhill and this may be our last visit. Food was marginal at best, mostly bland and uninteresting. I ordered the chicken piccata and it was barely edible. Others in the party found the same thing. Cocktails were very expensive and only ok. It is a big disappointment but we have seen it coming for awhile.

First time to the Brown Palace and Ship Tavern. Friendly service and fun atmosphere for sure. My slightly dirty martini was so sour either it was half vermouth or spoiled olive juice. Swapped it out with a wine and it was just fine. Good chowder and side salad and the meal came quickly. I went with the 16oz prime rib which actually looked closer to 20oz. Too bad it came out medium well and not medium rare as ordered. For $60 a cut, I would expect better attention to this but the au jus was good and I was hungry, also didn’t not want to send a second item back. Another diner with us had the same experience with her cut of prime rib. The mashed potatoes were incredible but the vegetable medley was undercooked, borderline raw. We finished off with some of their signature macaroons and they did not disappoint. A fellow diner had the chicken piccata and enjoyed it along with her salad and lemon drop martinis. At their price point, there are far superior steaks and fare in the immediate area. We agreed we might try the Palace Arms even though the food seems to come from the same kitchen. Cut the prices at the Tavern by 40% and I would give it another shot.

My husband and I were out for a date night of dinner and a play. We were greeted by a delightful older gentleman who seated us. He also served us. We started our meal with the beet hummus. The hummus had a wonderful beet flavor, the veggies were pickled nicely, and housemade crackers were fun and delicious. It was a great start to our meal. Our main courses were a let down after that appetizer. My husband had the meatloaf. His responses were it had a bit of a different flavor but was okay and that my meatloaf was a lot better. Thank you sweetheart. I had the chicken paccata. The pasta was tasteless and the chicken was not much better. My plate had all of 3 little capers on it. I was thinking maybe they had a caper shortage? If so, take the dish off the menu please. I ended up eating my chicken with half of my husband's potatoes. Thank you again sweetheart. My vegetables were very flavorful and seasoned well. Throughout the meal, the kind gentleman who took care of us was attentive and was, by far, the highlight of the experience. We would not recommend eating here. The prices are way too high for the quality.

Service was great but the entrees were expensive and subpar for taste. My friend was visiting from out of state and only had appetizers, my boyfriend had the prime rib and I had the pastrami sandwich. The only good food was the goatcheese appetizer and the dessert. The bill was over $150 for the three of us. My friend's beer on draft was warm too...

We enjoyed a wonderful anniversary dinner. We had reservations and was seated promptly. They ask if we wanter to have a drink ad relax before ordering dinner. The food was delicious and hot and excellent service. It has been a couple of years since we have been there and the menu has changed and it looks like a few tables have been removed. So very comfortable. The menu suited us just fine. Will go back soon.

Expensive prices for very poor tasting food. I had their famous prime rib, it was one of the worst prime ribs I’ve ever had. The Buffalo chicken dip was small and the chicken was incredibly dry. The best part of the whole experience was the drinks. The bartenders did a great job, the kitchen needs new chefs. I won’t be returning anytime soon.

The tavern is wonderful and the hotel is delightful. But… the service was slow and inattentive - we had to ask each time just for water refills. The food was sub-par for the price/ - for $49 I expect steak frites to have an actual steak and there was hardly any. The crab cake tasted “canned” crab meat. This is the second time we’ve dined here in the last month and both times it was slightly disappointing for the price. Not terrible but not enough to bring us back soon (and we live walking distance away).

We were really looking forward to dining here. My husband and I were visiting our daughter who resides in Denver. The whole experience was meh. I ordered the wedge salad with Salmon and the lettuce was wilted and warm. They were really busy with a large and loud work group so maybe that interfered. There are so many good places to eat in Denver and this one was a disappointment. The history of the hotel is interesting.

Our server Robear was great! It has been one of our favorites but alas. The chicken piccata was awful and I was mortified as my guest also ordered the same. It was dry and tough with no lemon butter sauce- I did not send it back but I should of. I left most of it on my plate- $32 worth. The seafood chowder was delicious as were the macarons and vanilla ice cream. My husband and our other guest enjoyed the piano player and all the patrons that joined in either playing the piano or singing last night. I was not prepared for the noise level as it was hard to catch up with our friends whom we haven't seen in many years. It will be awhile until we go back.
