Ship Tavern opened in 1934 after the repeal of prohibition making it the oldest restaurant in our hotel. The décor includes a complete mast and crow’s nest, an old ship’s clock, Jamaican rum barrels, and a collection of sailing ship models former hotel owner, Boettcher, acquired on a visit to Cape Cod.

Listen to live music and enjoy a lively meal in a vintage pub atmosphere. Savor our famous prime rib, burgers, sandwiches, seafood and steaks. Enjoy our wide selection of beers, wines and unique cocktails. Satisfy your sweet tooth with our delectable desserts.

    Ship Tavern is a staple at the Brown, always enjoy going especially during the holidays with the beautifully decorated lobby to visit on the way to the restaurant. The service was fine, but our food took longer than it should have to arrive. We enjoyed the cocktails we ordered and the burger and club were both tasty once they finally arrived.

    We dined at the Ship Tavern twice during our weekend stay, and had the pleasure to be served both times by Anthony. He was simply outstanding on both occasions, and really made our weekend stay worth it. His food and wine recommendations were perfect. He was friendly, attentive, and did everything he could to ensure our experiences were great. He should be managing all of the food service at the Brown Palace.

    As a Denver native I know that The Brown is a city icon and my family has dined there over many decades. The last few times though, the quality has spiraled downward at the Ship Tavern. We tried again last nite, hoping those previous experiences were "off" nights but the food was terrible...overcooked, dried out and sloppy presentation. Sadly, we will not be returning.

    Host couldn’t find our reservation and then walked away to go clean tables. Finally seated in an empty restaurant, took 45 minutes to get a drink and 90 minutes to get food. Food was great though.

    First holiday outing of the season. Made reservations for 3 for 5:15. Let them know we had a wheelchair user in our party. They we’re ready. The bar and kitchen were slammed and so it was a little slow but we still had time to enjoy our cocktails and dinner and make it to the symphony by 7:30. My favorite pub in downtown. Chill atmosphere. Comfortable. And with all the beauty of the Brown Palace at Christmas time but a price point that I can handle

    Thanksgiving tradition to go to Ships Tavern, if only for the ambience & service. Pre-fixe turkey entree was fine, but a bit pricey. Bottom line: great for the holidays so worth it.

    We were having a long delayed anniversary dinner. We love the Ship's Tavern Prime Rib and this was no exception. The meat was perfectly cooked and seasoned. And the accompaniments very good. We took dessert home. I recommend eating dessert at the restaurant because ours was melted by the time we reached home. Still tasty, but it would have been better at the restaurant. The service was impeccable. I highly recommend Ship's Tavern for special dinners, but it's a bit pricy for an everyday evening out.

     We had many fond memories of the Brown Palace and the Ship’s Tavern 20 years ago. Unfortunately somethings don’t stand the test of time. The food was mediocre at best and over priced

    My primary issue was overall value. I f you are going charge $21 for a martini it should filled to be brim. The Caesar salad at $16 not such a good value.

    We had a thoroughly enjoyable and excellent dinner. Starting with a couple of great cocktails and the delicious beet hummus, we moved on to share squash ravioli and a Caesar salad with perfect salmon. The service was not rushed and very attentive.

    Drinks were great but food very disappointing. My husband order chicken piccata- no lemon flavor, about 6 capers and tasted like flour sauce. I ordered fried chicken with green chili gravy. Sent gravy back as it came cold with film over it. Then started eating mashed potatoes- they were cold too. Waitress took whole plate back. My husband finished his meal before mine returned. Mine returned warm- chicken was like chicken nuggets and the gravy had no green chili taste- just flour! Waitress was great but very busy. She actually took 15% off the bill. We won’t be returning!! What a disappointment.

    The servers were neither friendly nor unfriendly. Whether or not they were busy we unclear but simply taking a moment to say hi, welcome us would have made a difference. The hostess who seated us was nice. The food was so so. The dessert was really good, although the apple pie can loaded with whip cream which was not listed on the menu and which I can't eat. I was really excited to visit this restaurant but it's unlikely I'd go back. I think if it wasn't situated in the hotel it might be less busy. The place has the potential to be great but lunch did not provide that experience.

    The service was absolutely unacceptable. The waiter literally threw my wife’s and my salad down on to the table without even looking and it landed half on my wife’s plate and the table and walked away. Completely unacceptable. Neither waiter. Spoke a word to us just the fax ma’am what is your order completely un personable the entire night I felt this was completely unacceptable from either waiter.  My wife and I are both a Colorado Native then we have been coming to ships tavern for over 30 years for date night and I am a detective in Denver for over 30 years as well. The majority of the time the service and meal has been outstanding, but we are apalled by what transpired last night and hope your management will rectify this. This does not happen to someone else.     Predictably good. I sometimes forget about it, but it’s a great place to have in your repertoire because it is predictable. I was a little surprised to be charged $15 to park though. In past has been complimentary parking with a validated ticket, last night the valet looked right at the validated ticket and said it would be $15.

    A great place to grab a bite, pub atmosphere with better, though select, menu. The crab cake is good, and the buger is delivered just as you ask for it! Anthony answered our questions and was the perfect amount of attentive, with a bit of humor.

    Delicious food, amazing atmosphere, incredible service! Loved listening to John at the piano before dinner while sipping wine in your historic and luxurious lobby! We will frequent and take friends and family with us! We’re new to Denver and happy I discovered you!

    The service was very slow… even after I had requested and spoke to someone that we were on a very tight timeframe of an hour. This is concerning because the restaurant was empty when we first arrived and it still took about 15 minutes to get our drink orders. And then, when it was time to pay, we had to go seek out the server again. Finally, my only other concern was this was a business lunch, and they would not accommodate separate checks for the seven of us.

    The ship tavern is casual, classy and historic. The ambiance is warm and inviting. The service is excellent and they have a nicely varied tavern menu- from burgers to fish and chips, to buttermilk chicken and prime rib. You can't go wrong with anything you order.

    Delicious chicken picatta. Service was outstanding. A very loud 4some right next to us. The waiter noticed the annoyance in my face and moved us to a quieter booth so we could actually converse (thank you, Joe!!)

    A lovely lunch with an old friend at a spot I knew she’d love. Great, attentive wait staff. Food was better than usual but still could use some work. Fries were soggy but meat was good. Served timely and with a smile. Can’t beat the ambiance.

    We thoroughly enjoyed this "throwback" dining experience. Our server Frank did an amazing job of describing the menu, serving our selected beverages in a timely manner and bringing our dining selections while they were hot. He added a few surprises to our experience which we also enjoyed and appreciated. When in Denver, we will return for this memorable atmosphere and menu.
