The meals consist of organic elements including grass-fed beef and pasture-raised, cage-free chickens. Local seafood options include wild Gulf shrimp, spicy Monterey squid and seared Ahi tuna, or visitors can take advantage of the raw seafood bar. Those looking for a vegetarian or vegan menu will find plenty of options available. The Slanted Door offers a family-style menu and a wide selection of desserts with an extensive bar menu to wash it all down.
We have not been here in a couple of years but thought it would be fun to return. With reservations, we were instantly seated at a window table. Our server (I think her name was Maya with a brownish bun on her head) took our order. The first courses came out quickly, spring roll -good, soup for my hubby and grapefruit jicama salad for me. - delish. Then we sat and waited and waited. Others were served and left. After about 30-40 minutes, I found our server who had not returned to fill our water or anything. I asked why we were waiting so long. She said she would find out......went to a computer to look then went to the kitchen. Came back and said it would be right out. My husband asked what was taking so long........without any apology, she said there was a miscommunication between the kitchen and the server (duh, I guess that was her). After that, our server stopped serving us and another young man with a beard started serving us. He apologized and said he was going to give us a free dessert for our inconvenience. We had sizzling beef for $43 and a small jasmine rice. The beef/filet was good but not worth the price. Turns out, the male waiter also comped our spring rolls. He almost saved the meal but we certainly have a bad taste in our mouths regarding our original waitperson. She certainly could have apologized!!
Loved the location and atmosphere at Slanted Table. Went with college friends for our 30th annual girls weekend and had a fantastic time. The service was the only thing that wasn't exceptional but certainly more than acceptable. It just wasn't at the level that I would have expected. I would definitely go back and recommend it to others. We ate the cellophane noodles with crab, shaking beef, hotpot chicken, the imperial rolls, and cotton candy. I am looking forward to going back with my sister and my mom!
We had a lovely dinner at Slanted Door. The food and drinks were delicious. And you cannot beat that view. Dining there in the evening as the sun is setting is spectacular. Definitely, a place to take out of town guests. My only complaint is the noise. It was very loud and made talking across the table difficult at times.
Excellent venue, service and cuisine. The view of the bay coupled with the restaurant made for a memorable family evening.
Great time and food. A must visit when in the city
Tables very close together. The food was pretty good.
It was my friend’s 60th birthday, so we decided to take the ferry from Larkspur to have lunch at the Slanted Door. The food was delicious & our waiter was knowledgeable & helpful without being intrusive.
Fun and fantastic!
The Slanted Door, in my opinion, is the best restaurant in San Francisco. I am visiting from Australia and have enjoyed the hospitality of many SF restaurants which are ‘first class, but the quality of the food, wine, service are unsurpassed!
Great venue and food. With wonderful service. Crowded and noisy often but fun
Service was awful - from the host to the server
We went tonSlanted Door while we were on vacation in SF. Several people had recommended it to us. It definitely lived up to the hype! Every dish we ordered was better than the next! The service was mediocre, but the food made up for it!
Your pricing has gotten ahead of the quality and value of your food. I really liked the restaurant when it first opened: really great food, friendly and personal atmosphere. Since moving to the Ferry Building it feels that you cater to industry on expense accounts; not my thing.
Great place !!!! Great food !!! Great staff!!!
This was probably the 10th time I've eaten at Slanted Door. The food was fantastic (especially the BBQ ribs), the service was friendly and efficient, and most of the diners near us seemed to be enthusiastic about their dinners. Another great evening!
Awesome service, food, and cocktails. I live this place. Very nice to my friend for her birthday
The noise level was simply unacceptable. My Soundprint app had it at 92 decibels as an average, with a high of 103 decibels. This is going to cause hearing damage.
Excellent food and great service. For Appetizer, we loved the spicy grilled port lettuce wrap. The Shaking beef is excellent for a main course. And the Cotton Candy is a must for dessert. The views are lovely. It's a great place to dine.
I was not super impressed with Slanted Door. It has been much better in the past.
Our waitress was very attentive and the food was delicious. Asked for and then seated in a booth with a view of the bay. Overall great experience.
All the food we ordered was so amazing! We had the crab noodles, pork ribs, shaking beef and scallop. One of my favourite places in SF so far
One of my favorite spots to eat and bring friends
Loved the food
Noisy place but overall good experience
Need to pay attention to what you ordered, as food arrives in waves and easy to miss something you ordered
I have been to Slanted Door many times but they seemed a bit "off" this visit. The chicken noodle soup had WAY too many noodles in it and it literally sucked up all the broth. I love my noodles so for me to even say this is very strange. Cut back on the noodles and offer hoisin and siracha sauce with the pho please.
There is a lot of “fluff” in this Nuevo Vietnamese restaurant. From the names of dishes to their presentations are geared towards the well heeled, but the tastes are just average. For my $80 per person for lunch without liquor, I can find better value elsewhere.
yup but not for conversation if you are with friends who you have not seen in awhile. too loud. buit if you sit by the wIndows off to the side and get there at 5:30.
The food was ok but the service was lackluster...I had the feeling the waitstaff would rather be anywhere but there. The Slanted Door used to be our “go-to” place to eat when we’d visit San Francisco but not so much anymore.
Always delicious food and amazing ambience- but things took a r-e-a-l-l-y long time for lunch: 1 hour and 45 minutes when we ordered quickly and not a lot of items? But we enjoyed it all- just didn’t leave us enough time to show off the rest of the Ferry building to visitors.
My best meal in San Francisco in the last 2 or 3 trips. Awesomely yummy! Clay Pot chicken was the BOMB!
Forgot one of our entries, brought it after all the others, was slow bringing our drinks
Everything was PERFECTION! The menu choices, the food was sublime when it came, the wait staff was helpful, quick and not hovering. Its a bit noisy but of happy people eating. And the bathroom is VERY clever! Unisex with someone to direct you to an empty stall. Wish you had a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc!! Those Imperial Crispy Rolls were just THE best.
The restaurant is just amazing...can’t say one negative thing about our visit! Our server Ned was outstanding. I wish we had a Slanted Door in Napa, Ca! I am ready to go back and try more!!!
Disappointing experience all around 2 vegan for lunch with no alcohol-over $100
We were in SF for s conf Used to live here. Good to see it is as good as ever.
Spectacular atmosphere and unbelievable flavor! Fun location!
Boring. Same old menu!! Need to change!!!
The scallops was not good
Too expensive fir what it is
Maybe I just didn't order the right things. Food was good but not special. Service was erratic, from solicitous/helpful to neglectful.
Great food with a close-up view of the Bay. The Slanted Door is always a treat.
