We had such an amazing time. The food was unbelievable. Family Stahle we all enjoyed everything. And the atmosphere and staff was just perfect!! Can’t wait to go again.
I was quite put off when I tried to get reservations both via Open Table and the restaurant itself. Claimed there were no seatings available between 5:15 and 9 PM on the multiple days I checked. WE took a 5:15 reservation. We were there over 2 hours. Upon leaving at 7:15, the restaurant was NOWHERE NEAR FILLED. What’s up with that? I asked a manager and couldn’t get a logical answer. If you say you’re filled, I expect it to be filled.
This was our second time and first time for lunch. Lunch was great as we expected but what they brought out at the end was mind blowing! A complimentary ricotta cheese doughnut with caramel sauce. OMG one of the best desserts I have ever tasted. Anyone want to go with me. I want to order a full order (8) for an appetizer. With a full order the sauces are caramel, chocolate and pistachio. YUM!! So, so good. I wish I had purchased an order to take home. One of my favorite restaurants!
Food is seemingly better every time I go, every dish is simple but exceptionally prepared, our server Hillary was fantastic in her knowledge of each menu item and the flavors and subtleties. Have already made reservations to return in 3 weeks. Only complaint would be that it takes so long to get a reservation.
The tortellini pasta tasted good, although nothing special. The carpaccio appetizer tasted good. My husband was disappointed in the breaded pork loin. It was dry and hard, not much pork flavor. It seemed like it was rewarmed and it was too thin.
Hated the food! Literally had one bite and left! Didn't like any food!
It was good as usual except that my tortellini was quite salty.
This was our first evening ever in Cincinnati. We searched on google for a nice place to eat. We saw the amazing pictures of the food and atmosphere and decided on Sotto. We had the BEST time at this little cozy Italiano restaurant. We sat at the bar grabbed drinks and then were seated quickly at our booth in the bar area. They were comfy leather booths and well made! Then we met the manager but I forgot his name! :( He was so kind and went over the best staples of the menu and what he recommended. He even broke down how each dish was made, where the ingredients came from, and the flavors of each dish. He welcomed us into his restaurant and we felt like we were family even though we're just visiting on a birthday trip for the weekend. Then he passed us onto our amazingly awesome and friendly server Bryan W. He was wonderful and took care of us so so well. He even surprised us with an extra appetizer of grilled octopus on the house for our special occasion. Truly a wonderful gesture that put the icing on our evening. He was a joy to talk to throughout the meal checking in often enough ensure we were well taken care of. He also put a small candle on out doughnuts as a small token for my birthday dinner! I couldn't have asked for a better evening to kick off our little trip. We thank the staff, the manager, and Bryan for making our evening truly unforgettable. We will be back for sure when we come through Cincinnati.
Overall, Sotto is an excellent restaurant. I think Sotto could expand their menu by adding a few more protein dishes, but other than that, the food was excellent. I'm not sure why our server changed in the middle towards the end of our dining experience, which is why I gave the Service a 3. Beautiful setting with a great wine selection. Definitely will recommend Sotto to others.
This was the total experience. Food was great! Service was excellent. We will be back!
The food was absolutely delicious! Loved the atmosphere and the service was outstanding.
This place is just amazing. The food is incredible. The beef short rib pillows of heaven are the best thing I’ve ever eaten.
Thrilling ambiance from the moment you enter the restaurant. It is an architectural sight for the eyes. Service was excellent, waiter was courteous and knowledgeable. The food was good if you like a lot of butter sauce. Everything was ala carte. The prices are a little high for what you get. I was not disappointed.
Food was excellent as always. Our server, Hillary, was outstanding. Thank you for another wonderful meal.
20 Year Anniversary
The food and the service was absolutely perfect. We had a party of 2 that expanded to a party of 4, and they immediately made space for us. From the appetizer to the main course to the wine to the donuts for dessert, it was all amazing. The morel mushrooms melted in my mouth. The fresh pasta was unbelievably good. Wow. I can’t wait to come back.
Michael was a fantastic server. He made some recommendations, all were right on, answered all our questions, and took amazing care of us.
Went with a large group so got to try a lot of different menu items and everything was absolutely delicious! Our server was excellent and friendly and the staff went above and beyond to give our group a great time
Excellent service and food. For rustic recipes, a bit over priced. Great wine choices. Not a cozy place for a conversation over a meal because it is extremely noisy.
Continues to be the best restaurant in Cincinnati.
We went for our anniversary, and even though it was a day early and a Sunday night the waiter was still very congratulatory. The food here is always great and worth the cost.
I’ve always heard great things about Sotto but the food really exceeded expectations! Make sure to try a pasta dish and the ricotta donuts! A great way to celebrate a special occasion.
Sotto was fantastic! Absolutely delicious. Our party of 4 got different dishes so we could try each other's. Everything was delicious. Our server was Andrew, he was so professional and knowledgeable. He explained 2 or 3 items in detail from each category and highlighted the best part of those meals. The portions are not huge which is so nice to not be uncomfortable when finished. So we had room for dessert, the ricotta doughnuts! Yum! It is a little on the pricey side, but it is worth every bit of it.
We arrived too early to get a table so we ate at the bar. The staff behind the bar was attentive and ran like a well-oiled machine. They were knowledgeable about the menu and made excellent recommendations. We had the cheese and sausage plate with garlic toast. I didn't like the blue cheese with goat cheese but. My husband ate it up. The Caesar salad with kale was delicious. Then we shared ravioli with short ribs as a filler and then pork steak. Couldn't eat it all.
Our first visit to Sotto was wonderful! The atmosphere was very relaxing and inviting! It felt like you were stepping into a European restaurant that had been around for centuries and welcomes guests from around the world in. The wait staff was first rate, always ready to assist in any way. The wine selection was vast and unique, and cocktails more than adequate.
Now onto the food, the stars of the show... We chose the black kale Caesar and the whipped goat cheese bread. My suggestion to anyone’s first visit - GET THE GOAT CHEESE BREAD! Delicious! For the entrees, we had the cacio de pepe (pasta in cheese cream sauce with black pepper) and cappellacci (Tortellini with a short rib shallot center with a cheese cream sauce). Oh my! Superb! And for dessert, we had the ricotta doughnuts, which were simply divine!
Simply said, Sotto delivers traditional Italian dishes in an elegant manner to heighten all your senses! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and certainly will be back!
Malto bene, Sotto!
Beautiful setting, food was good and unique. Service was excellent! Will definitely be back.
Great food, great environment, great service. 5 stars.
Great food and atmosphere. The service was good as well.
Wife and I visited for our 25th Anniversary and loved everything about it. The restaurants décor was perfect for the night and our waiter exceeded our expectations when we told him it was our first time visiting. He went down the entire menu with us while explaining every dish and was very helpful all through the night. We both loved our meals and will definitely be back with friends.
We celebrated our anniversary here, but we have also come to just celebrate life! This place is fantastic, the food, the wine and the staff are all the best.
If you have not been you are really missing out on a treasure.
Delicious food and very fresh tasting. We had two antipasta dishes, goat cheese and insalata with pear, gorgonzola and walnuts and two pasta dishes, cacio e Pepe and cappellaci...all were delicious! We finished our meal with limoncello and ricotta donuts. Our young children were with us and they enjoyed the bread with olive oil, a simple spaghetti with red sauce and the doughnuts! Highly recommend and definitely will return when visiting Cincinnati again.
My wife and I typically make the short two hour trip to Chicago once or twice a year and have a nice Italian meal, but we could very likely add Cincinnati (approximately a six hour drive) to the rotation just to eat at Sotta again. Everything about the experience was stellar...everything.
One of the best meals I have had in a while. Serve was excellent. Brian was a great, great server! We will be back for sure.
Our food was amazing and the ambiance perfect.
However, we were a bit disappointed in our service; our waitress never brought the bread we ordered even after we reminded her. I told them ahead of time that we were celebrating my husband’s birthday, but we did not get any of the special accommodations that you would expect.
Absolutely incredible. One of the top
5 meals I’ve ever had.
We booked this reservation 6 months in advance for my mom’s birthday. She had been wanting to try the restaurant on many occasions, but it was always booked. She loved the food and atmosphere!
Both the food and service was exceptional. My personal favorite was the short rib cappellacci...outstanding!
Great date night with friends!
I have yet to visit a restaurant where the staff is as educated and knowledgeable of their menu as the staff at Sotto. Abby upheld this service and went far and beyond providing a great anniversary dinner for my wife and I. The food was amazing and Abby made a great recommendation of a new wine for me to try after sharing my preferences. Sotto has become our anniversary staple and we are cannot wait to go again.
The food was prepared & served as if i was at a fast-food restaurant. The bread & olive oil was served with no spices or cheese for flavoring. Pasta portions were not served warm and without any shredded Parmesan or similar cheeses commonly offered with Italian pasta. Very unimpressed with Sotto as a top rated Cincinnati restaurant. I was at Sotto’s about 2 years ago & loved the food. Sotto’s has slipped considerable over this time period.
I had a lunch with my good friend. We met there because it was a half way between me from Columbus, OH and her from Cave City, KY. We both agreed that the lunch was worth for two hours plus driving! They made us, strangers out of town very comfortable. I definitely recommend everyone to visit here and I can’t wait to try for their dinner menu soon!
