Perfect night in celebration of our wedding anniversary. Quiet corner table in the atrium, and they added some very nice touches of champagne and treats. Food was excellent with unique flairs of flavor. Complements to the chef and entire staff!
Very romantic for a date night! The service is excellent. The scallops and fish entrees were a little dry, but otherwise everything was spot on. Definitely worth checking out.
The ambiance was, as usual, superb. The service was splendid. The presentation and the taste of the food was excellent. The Inn took all of the precautions necessary to care for the health of the customers. It was very good to be back.
First time at the property. Excellent ambiance, with very kind staff, and food was timely and very good!! What more can you ask?
Great experience! The staff were exceptional and the food delicious!!! Thank you
Everything was great. We were celebrating a birthday and the birthday girl received a card signed by the whole staff and a very nice dessert.
The outdoor courtyard is an ideal dinner spot for quiet conversation. I love the distance between the tables, the ambience in the courtyard, and the menu and winelist are supberb. Service was gracious but a little slow last night. There were not that many tables, so not sure if there was a staffing issue. But again, service was gracious and accomodating, just a bit slow. Food offerings are delicious and the wine list is solid. Overall, an excellent spot for a peaceful dinner with professional colleagues.
A+. We had a small team lunch on the covered patio and Tabard Inn delivered big time. The decor had us all talking and the food and service were top notch!
Fabulous birthday dinner at the Tabard last night! We snuck upstairs after our 2hour delicious dinner to see where we were married almost 5 years ago. Bliss!
Tabard Inn made my friend's birthday so special! Thank you so much for a lovely brunch on the beautiful second floor space!
As always, an excellent experience. One of our favorite places in DC.
Not the friendliest host or waitress- was surprised. It’s such a lovely spot but dont think we’ll be going back
Service and food were excellent. We love that the Inn is employee owned!
We had a great meal at the Tabard Inn. The food was delicious and the service attentive but not overbearing. The way the patio has been separated into discreet dining areas works really well. Delicious food. And a great cocktail list, too.
Great service from the entire staff from the welcoming receptionist to our server who knew the wine list very well.
Wonderful ambiance, food and service!
Brunch was quite disastrous. I ordered a scone, my friend a biscuit. We found the two to be identical in composition and execution-a grainy brownish and tasteless material unfamiliar as any scone or biscuit previously consumed by either of us.. my chicken and "churro" waffle also sadly disappointed. The chicken was cut into pieces and fried nearly black-tough and crunchy, while the waffle was ordinary in taste and consistency with only a tiny smear of some brown sticky sauce on the plate. My partner's "brisket" burger was pedestrian in preparation-overground plain beef and presentation-in appearance inseparable from any other restaurant fast or slow. The waitress seemed too busy to bother with discussion of the dishes and only after the meal was finished did she inform me of the constitution of the jam for the scone. A complete and utter disaster.
Enjoyed Tabard always fun, food delish and a lovely time with friends.
In a self conscious city like Washington, it's rare to have a gem like the Tabard Inn -- a bit off the beaten path, old world and an easy understated elegance without being a museum piece, and a place that serves fresh, great food with no fuss and no pretension. Serious menu planning was obvious as there were offerings to meet a wide range of tastes (sea food, meat, vegetable) and yet the menu was short and precise. The serve staff, in their various accents and demonstrating a willingness to be helpful without taking on an intrusive manner, made it feel like we were back in a more simple time where professionalism, not trendiness or improvisation, was expected and appreciated. The greeting staff on that particular day was less sterling in their greet and meet, but it must be a challenge to seat customers in a place that's up and down, outdoor and indoor, but the configuration of the restaurant is an added charm to the overall characters of the place. On a Friday night, customers seemed to reflect a segment of Washingtonians -- youngish and professional, not brash or loud -- as well as a few older, more worldly diners, who must like the place and also like to check out the upcoming generation. There was also a sprinkling of out-of-town visitors, after all this is an "inn."
Maybe the best compliment I could offer is that after an absence spanning years due to a stretching temporary relocation, I was touched to find an "old friend" who's retained the best of a more simple time and yet who knows how to keep itself from becoming a relic.
The service was exceptional. And always the Tabard welcomes diners with its charm and delicious food.
Love the Tabard Inn - try to dine there whenever I am in DC
I liked this place and will surely be back if ever I visit Washington.
Out of all the touristy places this was by far the best. The greeter was warm, got me sat down quickly and the service wasn’t perfect but good.
The food is value for money and I highly recommend getting their donuts, it was delicious.
The ambience was good although I went at a slow time.
They still do a great job of doing distancing and taking care people are looked after.
Although a tourist place, it felt more like gastro elegance. Thank you for being awesome!
great place! i will definitely be coming back here
Very nice ambiance. Food was great. Bathroom upstairs is nice inside trash was full and the door handle is almost completely broken. Kind of weird to see, other than that it was a great experience.
Great brunch! Definitely going back
My soft shell crab sandwich was hot and outstanding! I was debating about ordering the blackened NC shrimp and grits, which my companion (from NC) said was just ok, and which were definitely not blackened. Loved the outdoor area! Very charming overall
Always a lovely time.
2 of my guests mentioned that their food was not very appetizing
Classic and iconic DC destination for dinner and an overnight stay. Great food and thematic rooms
The patio is a cute area but can get pretty warm. I highly recommend the bakery items. The service was great.
As always, an excellent place for brunch. We really enjoyed it.
Beautiful authentic place, good service and good wine!
Tabard Inn is a DC gem
A colleague/friend was visiting from Cairo, so we suggested lunch at this venerable neighborhood restaurant.
The last time we were there, several years ago, the quality of the food had fallen off.
But let me tell you, it's back in full force. I ordered burrata with a salad, and added fried oysters as a side. That with a glass of rosé was one of the most heavenly lunches I've ever eaten.
My friend (who had pasta) and my husband (who had the burger) were equally happy.
We were seated on the interior patio, which used to be open to the sky and now—thankfully—has a canvas roof over it. Even on a cold, rainy day, we were warm and dry but still got the sense of an open, outdoor space.
We'll be going back...as soon as possible.
We loved how it looked! So charming and quaint! Wish there were more vegetarian/vegan options tho!
The atmosphere was a bit “bed and breakfast” but the food was tremendous. Very simple menu but innovative and delicious. A pleasant surprise.
Another return visit, this time inside, for a delicious dinner with friends.
Lovely atmosphere, great food. The menu choices were just a little limited, but three people with very different tastes were able to find plenty to enjoy. It was nice to see it busy, even though tables were spaced well apart.
Had incredible service and the brunch was as good as ever. Outdoor covered patio was perfect. A 10/10 dining experience.
Came here for brunch. The scone was our favorite of everything we ordered. The shrimp and grits was ok. However, the space has a certain charm.
