Excellent service nice and quiet just the right vibe we needed to be able to chat. Food was great I had the hummus and fried bread with pardon peppers and the fish and chips 😋 absolutely delicious. My friend had cheese flat bread and the burger and again delicious. We don't do alcohol but the range of zero alcohol drinks was great.

Watched the England game, no bouncer on the door so about halfway through the game about 50 underage teenagers came into the pub to watch the game. They were smoking and vaping in the pub. Ruined the atmosphere.

We attended for a works Christmas Lunch. 13 people, ordering from the main menu. The food was delicious and the drinks service was excellent. Our host took great care of us and all of the other guests. Nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely be back! Thank you

I booked a table for Sunday lunch but when I arrived two of the options were unavailable. There were no more vegan roasts by 4pm. I received no apology from staff, only told ‘it’s been a busy day’. A large sign advertised ‘pie of the day’ but this was also not available. The vegan burger was tasteless, the vegetables as part of the roast were almost raw and difficult to cut. I had travelled to the Actress from outside of London because the menu looked great for vegans. Overall disappointing.

Bar service and food were excellent, very helpful, friendly bar staff and manager, however the rudeness of a certain member of the waiting staff left a sour ending to the afternoon. I did bring this to the attention of the Manager who also happened to be present when the staff member actually shouted at me for going up and asking for cutlery and napkins after waiting for 5 minutes after the food was served. In my experience the cutlery and napkins are normally placed on your table once the food order has been placed or at the same time as bringing the food out. I was made to feel very uncomfortable and embarrassed in front of other diners. I left feeling that my bill of £154.00 for 3 people would have been better spent elsewhere which is a shame as the food was excellent!

We went for a midweek meal with our son and had a couple of pizzas and a plant based burger. All tasty and good value. We had the added bonus of the women's football match with Spain and Germany. Would definitely go again.

Hey Amanda, Thank you for your review, we show all sport here and as a community we want to show the young girls of our area they can do as the boys do and better, so if you're ever after any women's sport give us a call or check our website to see what's on. We're glad you liked the pizza also. please do come again and we hope to turn that 4 star into 5 Sam and The Actress Team

Lovely pub with a restaurant at the back, on the corner of a residential street, off the beaten track of Lordship Lane. They do a really good value mid-week set meal, but I ordered from the pizza menu and it was excellent. Attentive service. Great value. We would go again.

£20 for a roast with no stuffing and a bit dry. Kids on the next table literally running around screaming and smashing each other over the head and staff did nothing. Maybe I'm getting old. Great staff and lovely venue but bit off the mark...

The Actress was our favourite local pub when we lived in East Dulwich. Always friendly staff, great pizza and good selection of drinks.

All Metro Pubs UK locations available on OpenTable
Britain‘s pub culture is unlike anything else in the world. From the Victorian grandeur of a City of London boozer to the sun-drenched beer garden of a Surrey countryside retreat, the best pubs in the UK balance centuries of tradition with a restless appetite for seasonal cooking and craft drinks. London, in particular, has seen a remarkable revival in destination pub dining — where the quality of the kitchen rivals any standalone restaurant. Across England and Scotland, the story is the same: neighbourhood pubs evolving into something far more ambitious without losing the warmth and ease that makes them such essential institutions. Metropolitan Pub Company — aka Metro Pubs — sits at the centre of this movement, with a portfolio of unique, character-rich venues from Mayfair to Glasgow. Big believers in local pubs being just that, each site is shaped by its own neighbourhood, its own crowd, and its own particular charm. Explore the best pubs in the UK from Metro Pubs, book on OpenTable, and earn loyalty points for every single reservation.
