Our menu changes with the seasons and evolves daily ensuring the ingredients are of the freshest quality and at the weekends you can also come and enjoy one of our famous Sunday lunches. We source our cask ales from local brewers and design our wine list to compliment our food.

Couldn’t understand why, on a Tuesday evening, it took 45mins for 5 burgers and 2 steaks to be brought to our table, as well as being served before other tables who received their food first. Very drafty under the table to the extent that two guests couldn’t feel their feet.
Great food, friendly staff, really interesting seasonal menu.
Great atmosphere, really friendly staff, dogs welcome so it feels homely, yet the food is outstanding, the best "pub" dinner I have ever had and one of the best dinners (overall) I ever had in London. The best oysters ever in the UK.
Lovely 'country' pub - great looking menu with a good choice of dishes to suit all tastes. The starters were delicious, but three of us had the partridge as a main course and were disappointed. The lentil accompaniment was delicious, but the partridge itself had no flavour and was possibly undercooked as it was very difficult to strip the meat from the bones.
We then had to wait for ages for our puddings to be served - very tasty when they eventually came, but we were on the verge of telling them not to bother bringing them.
To give The Brown Dog their due, they knocked the price of the puddings off the bill - as they recognised that the wait was too long.
We know a lot of people who eat at The Brown Dog very regularly, and love it, so we will give them another try at some point.
Had a great lunch. I'll definitely go back regularly. Not cheap, but worth it.
Met up with an ex-colleague and his partner, meeting for first time, so important we had a place where we could relax and talk, with no problems with food or the order. The Brown Dog was perfect in this respect. The waiter was a delight, just the right level of attention. Food very good indeed. Have had a Sunday lunch here too, about 6 weeks ago, and that was also fantastic.
Lovely local gastropub which never let’s us down. Fabulous food, lovely ambiance and service. Couldn’t be more happy to have it so close to my house.
My main concern is that the menu is very overpriced. I paid £19 for what was essentially a salad with grilled chicken. Otherwise the service was slow and combined with all of the barking dogs I really couldn't wait to leave unfortunately.
always love the Brown Dog, friendly, great food and lovely ambience
Warm atmosphere, excellent staff and good food at lunch and dinner.
Monday night special - steak n’ chips. Beautiful steak, well worth every penny of the £16,50 deal
Lovely little pub in the backstreets of Barnes. Friendly staff and yummy food.....and ORGANIC house white! Yum!
This is quite a find - tucked away in the back streets of Barnes- good food at reasonable prices. It is a great little place.
Lovely pub, great staff, delicious food. I Highly recommend it.
We come to The Brown Dog quite regularly and always have a great experience. The team their are lovely if at times a little overwhelmed, however on this visit that was not the case. It was a lovely relaxing vibe. The food at Brown Dog is always impeccable. The starters are wonderful and hearty, along with the mains again it's rather hearty food but I always find the Steak is cooked to perfection and their chicken dishes are just sublime. There is no restaurant in Barnes that does Chicken better. The Sticky Toffee Pudding is a classic British dish that is done to perfection here. Even when stuffed, I can't not order it. The drink selection could be improved, as a big fan of craft beer the best options are one rotating tap of craft beer as well as the pubs own Brown Dog Ale which is great. I'd love to see some more IPA's, DIPA's, Lagers and Sours available. The garden is well kept and comfortable whilst the inside has a homely feel to it. The staff are helpful and have a lot of character. The great thing is that the menu is ever rotating. It seems that every month or so the menu changes, keeping things fresh and interesting on every visit. Also, in my opinion this is the best place to bring your dog. Our little Pomeranian boy adores it here and is able to sit comfortably with us whilst we eat.
Maybe i would.
I did have a hair in my main course (entwined in the spinach) Hake dish. I didn't make a fuss as it was my birthday celebration. To be honest I would have liked to have been offered the dish complimentary as a goodwill gesture. My dish was replaced and that was it. I was still charged (£19)
I would also like to stress that I was very sick during the night. I have no proof that this was what I ate at your pub and I am not making a big deal now. I am only telling you as I have received an email asking for my opinion on the brown dog.
But I would like to say this is my 2nd visit and i had a lovely meal first time around..and it is dog friendly, which is a bonus.
Good pub with great staff and delicious food. Nice garden out the back as well.
The food is great but the Sunday roasts are rather pricey.
Very nice gastropub. Great chips. Yummy sticky toffee pudding.
Lovely cosy pub, visited previously and chosen for a reunion of friends. Table booked for 8pm and one friend was delayed so we didn't order until 8.30pm. The food then took over 45 minutes to arrive. Three of us ordered bavette steak, mine was cold and the chips were soggy from red wine jus overload. Big cold mushroom very unappetising and only a few strands of watercress, chips didn't look 'hand cut'. The medium and medium rare orders were also mixed up.
My friend also had a problem with the only vegan choice, which was basically a selection of root vegetables. The waitress was very friendly and apologetic, brought my friend extra potatoes(!) after speaking to the chef, and offered us tea/coffee or dessert in recompense. Unfortunately we had to get back for babysitters so didn't have much time to enjoy this offer, and just shared a sorbet, peppermint tea and a glass of wine. Other people seemed to be enjoying their meals and we were the last to have food delivered, so it was just a lapse in focus and delivery.
Food quality has unfortunately decreased steadily over time.
Great meal, nice food, catered for kids well! Will visit again.
A friendly and inviting village style pub with a great selection of beers and wine and an excellent menu
I took my daughter and husband for their 3rd wedding anniversary meal to The Brown Dog and we were all delighted by the service, food and the kind manager. A bonus was I could take my chocolate lab!
Thank you very much.

Always enjoy the Brown Dog. Service is great and the food never lets you down. Top spot.
We really love the Brown Dog - always a warm welcome and a relaxing and cool vibe. Sadly the food quality seems to be on the wane and that will stop us craving a visit there if not addressed. The night we were there two very large parties were getting quite aggressively drunk and extremely noisy. Still worth going there for the home from home luxury.
We really enjoyed the food, it was amazing!!!
We definitely will be back soon.
The food was fantastic, we will definitely be back, so nice to go for dinner with our dog and to get such good food. Can't wait for next time.
Exceptionally friendly staff, a lovely pub and wonderful food. A true 5 star experience from beginning to end. Highly recommend!
Always a treat at the BD!! Great food, great sunny garden, great staff.
great food, good drinks and friendly place
would recommend the brown dog to friends and famiiy and will certainly go again
Very friendly service especially very child friendly. The food was of good quality too.
Good food with friendly service and good atmosphere. Vegetarian option very tasty but there was only one choice.
We used to go to the Brown Dog when we lived in Putney, so as we were down for the Boat Race we decided to come back for dinner and wasn't disappointed. Lovely pub, great food and atmosphere.
I’ve been to the Brown Dog several times over the last few years. The food, drink and service has always been brilliant, and this time was no exception. Everything here is delicious, with friendly, informal service...and they’re great with dietary requirements too. My favourite place for a special meal out in the Putney/Barnes/Fulham area.
Competent cooking, good ingredients. Good fish.
Loved it - magnificent Sunday roast with other tasty options on the menu too. Lovely service and great place with a real family feel - very child and dog friendly
fabulous food dog friendly and brilliant service. will definitely go back.
Superb food and lovely atmosphere, includes a great terrace for when it’s sunny too.
Food fabulous, service exceptional. Staff very friendly, welcoming and on a busy rugby day all done with a smile. A fabulous venue that you should all visit regularly.
