Jennifer did an excellent job as our server. Make sure to ask for the Basil popcorn in case they forget to provide it. We truly enjoyed the Honey Brussels, Lamb Chops and Scallops Deluxe. I do not recommend the Barbecue Carrots whatsoever - way too acidic in taste. This has become one of my favorite restaurants in Baltimore so I will be back for sure.
Food and drinks were delicious. They were super accommodating with all of my food sensitivities. Will definitely be going back!
The outdoor seating does not come with any heaters, and it is Hampden so you can sometimes feel like you're sitting in the smoking section. Our waiter was awesome, the food was great, COVID dining, not all together too relaxing.
Tables appropriately spaced for COVID. Food and service wonderful, as always.
We had the mozzarella sticks for our appetizer and they were absolutely delicious! Our server Jermaine were awesome! He had some very good suggestions and he was right! OMG! Everything was so good! We WILL BE BACK SOON!
Delicious food! Great service
Dinner was just ok. The bacon braised greens with grits was under seasoned compared to when I had it on Sunday. Also the presentation the dessert was thrown together.
This is the perfect place for a dinner date, get together with your girlfriends or a work HH. They have an exciting twist on menu items.
I went for Sunday brunch with family and my 4yo son to celebrate my birthday and everyone found something delicious to eat. It was a great meal, delicious food and really great service! The Food Market is one of my favorite restaurants in the area! Always a great meal.
My husband and I stopped in for brunch on our way back to DC from Delaware. We were running behind, but the hostess was (thankfully) super understanding and forgiving. Our server, Brandy, was so awesome. She has great energy and provided us with excellent recommendations. We started with the French toast and mussels. The mussels were cooked perfectly, and the broth was insanely good. I wish I could have ordered a bowl of it by itself. My husband had the breakfast tacos, and being in Maryland, I felt obligated to have the crab cakes Benedict. The tacos were almost too pretty to eat and packed in a ton of flavor. I received two generous crab cake patties with mine and was happy to not see them drowning in hollandaise. The Benedict paired really well with the house hot sauce (thanks for the rec, Brandy!). Also, do yourself a favor and get the habenero Bloody Mary.
The food was delicious from appetizers to dessert. Can’t wait to come back
Best restaurant in Baltimore
Had an amazing date outside at the Food Market on Saturday night! The covid protocols made us feel safe, the service was stellar and the food was outstanding - we are still talking about how special of a night it was. Something about sitting on the street makes the experience that much better - we will continue to come back and were glad to see one of our favorite places thriving!
Great food, safe ambiance. Great service
One of my favorite restaurants! Nice waiter and delicious food.
Amazing food and amazing service. Amazing spot for brunch.
We waited for a very long time, and there wasn’t really value for money. The waiter Jermaine was AWESOME, though.
Good food and great service. One of my favorite places to visit.
As always, the food was exceptional from starters to desserts. We’re always looking forward to eating here and even during COVID, we felt comfortable and appropriately spaced out with indoor dining.
Great food but slow service. We were there on a Monday night, inside dining room was empty but outside dining was full. We were outside and saw several servers walking around. It took 20 min to receive drinks and appetizer plates were never cleared.
Perfectttt! Will return for sure!
Was able to reserve an outdoor table, was seated on-time, staff was very friendly and professional and the food was excellent.
Good food but a lot of truck traffic on the street though so it was a bit noisy. The service was ok but a bit slow.
The Food Market was everything I thought it would be! I definitely recommend the Lobster Fingers and Spaghetti and Crab Meatballs. Our waitress Brandy was phenomenal as well.
I was looking forward to eating there. However, I was disappointed. I did not have a reservation at the moment. They hosted asked for how many and I responded for 3. My son, boyfriend, and me. The outside was completely empty only one couple were sitting outside. The hosted looked at us and said “sorry, we are booked and won’t have anything unlit 8PM. We got there exactly at 4:20PM. We walked out a little sad because we really wanted to try this place. So, I pulled my phone to check another place and used the App OpenTable. To my surprise, there was a opening for 4:45PM. So, I booked. Went back inside and a different person was at the hosted station. I gave him my name, he was more than friendly to take us to the able, when the girl came and asked, “oh did you just made reservation?” I said yes. To be honest I have never felt discriminated for being Hispanic. But that day I did. By the way she looked at us from the beginning than to see me back with a reservation that should have giving me at first. The serve was friendly and helpful. We order our food. And I got a steak, the steak was cold, and I asked for to have it warm. Again, the server was nice enough to take the steak and have other coming. Second steak arrive, to be fully uncooked, super red from the inside. We asked for the bill and we wanted to leave right away. It was a mistake making a reservation when the hosted told us that they were booked from the beginning with empty tables outside/inside. Yes, the hosted came to apologize with not a sincere apologize and offer a free dessert. And we refused because we are hungry, and all the experiences took our hunger way.
Great bartender and great food!
I hadn't been to the restaurant in a few years. Our meal was good and the servers were very attentive. I will be back again.
I was severely disappointed by our visit, I had heard nothing but wonderful things about The Food Market. As it is billed as fine dining.
My date’s pan seared tuna was frozen in the middle (not room temp, but had been previously frozen) as were the wontons that accompanied the dish. Fried nice and crisp on the outside frozen on the inside.
I ordered the steak frites. The cut was uncooked (and I like rare) and incredibly tough to cut. However, the glaze on the outside was delicious.
Mozzarella sticks for the appetizer were fine.
My Date had a mock-tail that was good.
But that’s it.
As far as that warranting a price tag of over $100, is just outrageous.
Maybe the kitchen was trying to rush to get through service? I don’t know.
I’d be happy to return to try again for sure (as the food market has been highly recommended my several of my friends in the area)
But, I was really let down.
We felt safe outdoors but only some of the tables had umbrellas (none of the tables for 2) and it was sprinkling a bit. Our food was delicious. We had a bit of a slow start but once we saw a server (Jermaine) service was excellent.
Had a wonderful time with girlfriends eating delicious food and drinking fabulous cocktails!!! Food Market is my favorite restaurant in Baltimore!
Great waiter, the moving parts of cars and people add to the ambiance. Nice food prep
I'm from Texas and was in town visiting family. A friend recommended this place and it was soooo charming! It's on a very lovely street. The decor is unique and cozy. The food was EXCELLENT!!! Definitely a fantastic spot for a date, a night out with friends, or even flying solo! I even brought food back to my hotel in DC for my mom. She notoriously hates when her food isn't pipping hot. She gobbled up the spaghetti and crab meatballs without thinking twice!! haha GREAT SPOT!
My food was not cooked thoroughly and had to be sent back. By the time my new, cooked meal returned, my companion was finished her meal so she sat there as I ate. Our server was very apologetic, but I thought the restaurant could have done more based on the inconvenience and disaapointment of the uncooked food.
We ate indoors at The Food Market, and the experience, while different from the bustle we were used to, was excellent. The food was great, as was the service. They are working hard for their customers and employees and it shows.
Been here for dinner several times, however, this was the first for brunch. I nor my best friend were left dissatisfied. The food was amazing and the Gucci Lemonade was superb.
We dined outdoors, which consists of tables along the sidewalk in front of the restaurant and a number of adjacent businesses – given present circumstances, the surrounding charm of Hampden adds to the total dining experience if one keeps the correct frame of mind. Service from the charming Rebecca as attentive and professional. The Cream of Crab Soup is the best in the city: Old Bay replaces sherry as the dominant flavor and the dish contains a generous amount of jumbo lump crab meat (with the option to add more for an additional cost). The Salt and Pepper Tuna appetizer is one of my personal favorites: perfectly pan-seared tuna chunks drizzled with extra virgin olive oil and an avocado tzatziki sauce which perfectly complements the tuna, as does the small side of pickled cucumber slices. Pan Roasted Mussels are plentiful, accompanied by bacon, leeks and a superlative champagne cream sauce – the one slice of grilled bread offered as the accompanying means to sop up that delicious sauce is not nearly enough, so be prepared to ask for more bread and spend many minutes enjoying what may be the best part of this dish. The Brown Sugar Pork Belly was enjoyable, perfectly accompanied by the greens and tomatoes.
The Scallops Deluxe dish is a perfect end-of-summer dish with its summer-squash risotto base holding a number of pan-seared scallops. The winner of the evening was the Roasted Beef Short Rib – delicious perfection.
An excellent wine list offers a workable number of excellent options, with both a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc and California Pinot Noir perfects choices for our meal. This makes up for the minimal dessert selection – we opted for the Heathbar Crunch Bread Pudding…a wonderful dish to end a great meal. I look forward to our return.
I was try to make a reservation to another restaurant that wasn’t available, and “The Food Market “ came up as a suggested option. It had 4.9 rating and I made the reservation.
Our date night was great. The area, then the ambience was a good start. The service and food was great. We can’t wait to go back!
This was my first time dining out since March 2020. I was nervous, but the entire team followed all CDC guidelines and the food was delicious.
Great service and the food was really good. Would definitely go back for their brunch.
