Cream of Crab Soup
best in these parts
lobster mac & cheese, summer squash with sundried tomato gremolata, tartar
3 onion butter, truffle parmesan fries, summer squash with sundried tomato gremolata, with 36 st steak sauce
Great waiter, the moving parts of cars and people add to the ambiance. Nice food prep
I'm from Texas and was in town visiting family. A friend recommended this place and it was soooo charming! It's on a very lovely street. The decor is unique and cozy. The food was EXCELLENT!!! Definitely a fantastic spot for a date, a night out with friends, or even flying solo! I even brought food back to my hotel in DC for my mom. She notoriously hates when her food isn't pipping hot. She gobbled up the spaghetti and crab meatballs without thinking twice!! haha GREAT SPOT!
My food was not cooked thoroughly and had to be sent back. By the time my new, cooked meal returned, my companion was finished her meal so she sat there as I ate. Our server was very apologetic, but I thought the restaurant could have done more based on the inconvenience and disaapointment of the uncooked food.
We ate indoors at The Food Market, and the experience, while different from the bustle we were used to, was excellent. The food was great, as was the service. They are working hard for their customers and employees and it shows.
Been here for dinner several times, however, this was the first for brunch. I nor my best friend were left dissatisfied. The food was amazing and the Gucci Lemonade was superb.
We dined outdoors, which consists of tables along the sidewalk in front of the restaurant and a number of adjacent businesses – given present circumstances, the surrounding charm of Hampden adds to the total dining experience if one keeps the correct frame of mind. Service from the charming Rebecca as attentive and professional. The Cream of Crab Soup is the best in the city: Old Bay replaces sherry as the dominant flavor and the dish contains a generous amount of jumbo lump crab meat (with the option to add more for an additional cost). The Salt and Pepper Tuna appetizer is one of my personal favorites: perfectly pan-seared tuna chunks drizzled with extra virgin olive oil and an avocado tzatziki sauce which perfectly complements the tuna, as does the small side of pickled cucumber slices. Pan Roasted Mussels are plentiful, accompanied by bacon, leeks and a superlative champagne cream sauce – the one slice of grilled bread offered as the accompanying means to sop up that delicious sauce is not nearly enough, so be prepared to ask for more bread and spend many minutes enjoying what may be the best part of this dish. The Brown Sugar Pork Belly was enjoyable, perfectly accompanied by the greens and tomatoes.
The Scallops Deluxe dish is a perfect end-of-summer dish with its summer-squash risotto base holding a number of pan-seared scallops. The winner of the evening was the Roasted Beef Short Rib – delicious perfection.
An excellent wine list offers a workable number of excellent options, with both a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc and California Pinot Noir perfects choices for our meal. This makes up for the minimal dessert selection – we opted for the Heathbar Crunch Bread Pudding…a wonderful dish to end a great meal. I look forward to our return.
I was try to make a reservation to another restaurant that wasn’t available, and “The Food Market “ came up as a suggested option. It had 4.9 rating and I made the reservation.
Our date night was great. The area, then the ambience was a good start. The service and food was great. We can’t wait to go back!
This was my first time dining out since March 2020. I was nervous, but the entire team followed all CDC guidelines and the food was delicious.
Great service and the food was really good. Would definitely go back for their brunch.
Shockingly bad. Everything from the cocktails to the small plates and entrees. Severely disappointed. Would not eat the food again if it was free.
Girls Night Out
Food Market is one of my favorite restaurants. Food and drinks are delicious and the service is always great.
The food was great !
This was my first time and we did outdoor seating. I’m not a fan of outdoor seating but given the current situation with CoVid, it was necessary. Overall, it was a great first time. The food was great, our server was good and always around when we needed him, & our wait was not long at all. We made a reservation for 1:30 and not long after, we were seated. I will be back for sure. Everything in the menu sounds so good!!!
The server was fantastic, professional and kind. The food was great and I liked the hipster, chill crowd. I’d go back there again.
Dry pleasant, good service, good food
Strange visit to FM. A Woman was on her phone while checking in with the host. She was still on her phone after being seated. A man next to us was also listening to some sort of podcast with his phone on speaker. Our waiter was nice; food was okay. Drinks are always good.
I ordered the salmon w/flapjack potato & corn pudding. It was delicious. My date ordered two birds, duck leg & chicken breast & w/greens. He said it was very good. We also had the cream of crab which was very tasty. We recommend everything. Our server Jennifer was awesome. Thank you Jennifer for helping to make an awesome, clean, & safe experience we appreciate you for what you do. One side note to The Food Market everone from greeting of the host to the our server were great. Please get rid of that awful hand sanitizer by the restroom. We had to wash it off our hands after using it.
Great place for Sunday brunch. Outstanding service and an interesting menu.
My husband and I hadn’t been out to a restaurant since the pandemic began, and we were feeling like we were ready to. We chose outdoor seating which was lovely. They only have six tables outside, spaced well apart for social distancing. Our waiter was wonderful, food was great, drinks are amazing. The Food Market never disappoints.
I went there to meet a friend for lunch. It was the first time that I had been inside a restaurant to eat since February, due to Covid. I felt very comfortable with the seating arrangements. Plenty of space between tables. My friend did not show so I only ordered the plate of mussels. I was very pleased with the flavorful taste and enjoy the eats.
The Food Market never seems to disappoint and a visit during the pandemic was no different! The staff was warm and friendly, the food was beyond tasty and they offered both indoor and outdoor dining with plenty of social distance between tables. Also, the complimentary popcorn was a fun start to a delicious meal!
Everything was amazing!
(Shrimp & grits, espresso rub lamb chops, pretzels with beer cheese, crab & corn doughnuts, Caesar salad, Greek salad)
This is one of our favorites in baltimore. Comfort food at its best. But the drinks are very creative and all are great. Outdoor seating in Hampden gives great people watching!
Jermaine was a wonderful server! He was very personable and was very attentive to our table! He even recommended a wonderful drink and it was great!
We had the Steak and Eggs + Baltimore Club! Both were well seasoned and cooked perfectly! We can’t wait to visit again :)
Sam was spectacular as usual! Even with such a busy evening he kept our drinks full at all times and the food was amazing!
Food and cocktails are always excellent and a great value for the quality! I’m so thankful that it’s even open but the sidewalk is such a bummer- the only reason for the low rating on ambiance! Love this place and will come again for curbside dining.
We requested outside seating on a beautiful thrifts evening. Had phenomenal service and exceptional food. Will absolutely go again. May even make it to the brunch.
My new favorite restaurant in the city. The food was absolutely amazing, highly recommend the pork belly, lamb chops, and pretzels. Our waiter was great too!
Dining in, COVID style, was a good experience. Food was amazing with too many choices. Ordered way too much, wanted to try so many. The pickle app was my fave, thanks to our server for suggesting! Would def go back again.
Nice evening, thank you!
Delicious food as always!
The only thing my tuna was cooked wrong, which was annoying since this is rare time now that we go out. I couldn’t finish it. Otherwise food was good.
It was really nice and the food was delicious!
The food is just amazing here- consistently every time we dine! With Covid, we had to sit outside on the sidewalk which was fine. Service was fantastic!
Highly recommend the bread pudding!!!!
The Food Market is one of our favorite go-to restaurant. Always excellent service and delicious food. Our server tonight, Andy, was great. We've never had a bad selection...until this evening. Our go-go starters, as always, cream of crab soup and mozzarella sticks were excellent. My husband decided to try the Mango-lian beef - he said the fruit/vegetable combination was delicious but the coating on the beef was not good and the beef was tough. I decided to go with 2 untried big appetizers - Street Tacos and the garlicky, shrimp...dip with torn bread. The Street Tacos were amazing. Perfect blend of flavors. The garlicky, shrimp...dip was awful. The torn bread was covered with the not very tasty overly seasoned creamy sauce which made it tough...the shrimp would probably have been good if not for all of the sauce on it - shrimp was cooked well. We will definitely be back, but that dish will never be ordered again.
The food was delicious. Great service. No complaints... Highly recommend the popcorn topped with pesto!
Food was awesome as well as the service. The Food Market never disappoints me or my guest.
