The atmosphere was nice, but we were seated by a door to the outside patio positioned in the bar area. The service was slow, the door was mediocre as the scallop dish I ordered was watery when served. The dessert also was subpar and disappointing. My wife felt the same in regards to her filet mignon.
Nice atmosphere. Food was just "okay". Salmon on the salad was very good. Calamari was average at best. The grilled chicken on the salad lacked seasoning/flavor. The crab cakes were crisp and good on the outside but the inside was soggy and "mayonaisey". Selections for Chardonnay by the glass are very cheap varieties. I would have expected better by-the-glass selections.
I wanted to give this restaurant 5 stars, but the service and the kitchen made two considerable errors that affected the score. This was our first time at Greenfield Restaurant. The food is outstanding, and it is evident that the chef is top-notch. However, I ordered the scallops and *crunched* my way through shells. When I brought this to the attention of our server, I was told "I will let the kitchen know." When nothing happened, I told another server, who said the same. No one came out of the kitchen to inquire, nor did the manager come over to the table. I hope this review brings this to the attention of the owner and the chef so they can ensure the experience is not repeated with another customer.
Really enjoyed a special night out with friends. The ambience was wonderful - great service, loved the pianist and very good food and wine. Thank youi!
My wife and I consider The Greenfield "our" restaurant, and have eaten there regularly for over 13 years since before we were married. We even held our wedding rehearsal dinner there. Our experience at a wine cellar table on 2/26/21 was one of the best we've had to date. My wife's HUGE lobster tails were the best either of us ever saw or tasted. My scallops were also enormous, and cooked to perfection. The food and atmosphere are easily the best in Lancaster County. The variety in their wine cellar seems to have suffered a bit under oppressive COVID regulations, but we still found a good bottle. Please keep up the amazing work Chef Mueller, we have yet to find your equal.
Top notch in every way whether for a casual get-together with friends, business meeting, or special occasion.
First time we ate here and I am sure we will go again. The chef is a former White House Chef and has cooked for multiple US Presidents. My wife and I both chose a different fish option and both were great. Cooked perfect, outstanding sauce and veggie mix with it too.
While the restaurant ambience was very nice , the food was only so-so. We were expecting much higher quality from a former White House chef, and for the prices charged. We may return to give the place one more try -- they did have excellent drinks, a wonderful soup-of-the-day, and a killer braised short rib eggrolls appetizer.
Excellent service, delicious food, and the live piano music made this a memorable meal. We will be back!
Absolutely impeccable service, food and atmosphere!!! This was our first date night in a long while and we decided to try some place new!! We are so happy we did! This is our new go to restaurant for time to relax together and reconnect! Thank you Greenfield for exceeding our expectations! See you again soon!! :)
Awesome experience as always! Food is always terrific and the service is impeccable!
What an unexpected surprise... We were looking for a light lunch before our show at Sight and Sound... We were thrilled. Great service and atmosphere. Food was delicious and we had a great time.
Wife had the salad with cashews and chicken as well as the sandwich on a croissant. I had the quiche and fruit with the shrimp as my app. Great deserts too. We will be going back for dinner in the very near future.
My wife and I had a lovely Valentine’s Day dinner together. Great service, great food, not the most romantic table, but hey it was Valentine’s Day.
Thank you so much for visiting and taking the time to leave a kind review! We are thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your Valentine's Day experience here at The Greenfield Restaurant, and we look forward to serving you again in the future! Maybe in our romantic wine cellar next time! :)
Came for Valentines Day and enjoyed the food. The portions felt small and the vegetables were undercooked and bland. The atmosphere was amazing though and our server was excellent.
Very much enjoyed our Valentine's Dinner in lovely surroundings with great service. The menu was a little more limited than usual due to the special nature of the evening but it was carefully and thoughtfully planned out. The pianist was very talented and this created a lovely atmosphere. Thank you!
Excellent as always. Good menu for Valentine's day.
LarryS, We are so glad that you enjoyed your Valentine's Day experience! We are so grateful to have you as one of our loyal patrons. :) Looking forward to the pleasure of serving you once again!
Have not been their in years and the overall food quality, preparation and taste was extremely disappointing! For the price is was really sad. It really made me think that they do not understand that people in Lancaster know food quality, prep, etc, It was a Valentine's Day Dinner with a reduced menu and the sides were mostly the same and not creative or natural (shaved carrots, one cauliflower and green beans unseasoned - Come on!. Both soups were average, but the presentation was (one star). The Onions and Mushrooms on the Prime Rib (up charge) were done really well, but the Prime Rib had no flavor on the char. So, without paying for the mushroom and onions, that would have been bland. The crab cakes were overly moist due to filler (crackers, etc.) not worth the $32 price tag.
The bloodymary had zero spice/seasoning and the butter was cold along with the bread that was not made in house.
Was so excited to finally book this and bring my wife there and for the $170 dinner for 2 people I felt absolutely robbed. Please take down the White House accolades if you are going to draw naive Lancaster Patrons into a meal who's quality you can get at a portion of the price at Outback.
Really disappointed because we were so looking forward to this dinner and celebrating this time together.
Would certainly appreciate a call from management and possible compensation - it was that disappointing for the price!!
Thank you!
Valentine’s Day. Everything was great!
Great atmosphere, service and food. We will be back!
Excellent Thank you for everything it was a memorable night for my wife.
Robbie, We are so glad to hear that your experience was a memorable one! This is always our goal here at The Greenfield Restaurant. :) Looking forward to serving you again!
Nice atmosphere, food was excellent, waiter was attentive, our first time there but will definitely be going back in the future.
This is wonderful to hear! We are so grateful for your patronage and for your kind review. Looking forward to serving you again!
Greenfield Restaurant- crushing disappointment for worst $100 meal
For over ten (10) years, we have patronized this fine dining restaurant. We have written glowing reviews so it is with a heavy heart that tonight’s meal to celebrate our 29th anniversary was the worst $100 meal ever! The Prime Rib was fatty and lukewarm. The vegetables were undercooked and cold. The artistic potato form had a big wholesale club feel to it and finally the double crabcake was mostly claw (not lump) with rich seasoning for $32. Lesson learned on avoiding Valentines Special Menu as it pressures owners/staff to cut corners and allow expediency and volume to compromise quality. Let me end with a platitude of defense for you: Even Babe Ruth didnt homer EVERY TIME he was at-bat!
Fantastic Food, Atmosphere and service!! Definitely recommend!
Great food and value. Piano player nice touch. Would definitely go again if in area. Was staying in Leola
It is so wonderful to hear that you enjoyed your experience at The Greenfield Restaurant! Thank you for visiting and we hope to have the pleasure of serving you once again in the future!
Food was good. Very beautiful place. Service was poor and ruined experience for me.
Anonymous, We are deeply sorry that your experience was not up to The Greenfield Restaurant standards! This is disheartening to hear, and we want to make this right. If you are willing, please give us a call at 717-341-3642 and ask to speak to General Manager, Zach Moeller, regarding your dining experience. We do hope that you will give us the opportunity to rectify this situation. All the best, -The Greenfield Team
We arrived at 6:25 for a 6:30 reservation. And we were told that they gave our table to someone else.
They then set us up stairs in a nice room but right next to the waiters back stair case and they were running up and down the whole time.
Sat for a while water took our drink order and brought us bread (that’s was real good and warm).
Drinks came and the waiter took our order for apps. We got the shrimp they were so so not thawed correctly seemed rubbery.
Took order for dinner I ordered the rib eye (which was on the menu ) and was told they were not serving that. So I got the prime rib with a Caesar salad. My wife ordered the crab cakes.
At 7:55 we got our salads.....almost 90 minutes later....
Then a server came up and asked if we needed anything and said she would bring us more bread. (The bread never showed up)
The meal finally show up and was barely Luke
Warm....my wife had crab shells in her crab cakes that got stuck in her teeth. We told and showed the waiter and he got the manager. The manager apologized and took the crab cakes off our bill.
All in all it was not worth the time and money. My wife was very excited about going to this restaurant because she had heard nothing but great things about it...
Maybe we just caught them on a bad night. Thanks
It is extremely disheartening to hear of your experience. We sincerely apologize that our usual high standards were not met during your visit. Thank you very much for your candidness and honesty; we greatly appreciate your feedback and these matters will be brought to the attention of our ownership immediately. Although it's no excuse, every establishment has a rough night every now and then - we hope you will give The Greenfield a second chance to sweep you off your feet.
We struggle with Greenfield. In the past it seemed to be a more higher quality experience. Presently the menu is fairly middle-of-the-road: good, but not great. There are quite a few much better quality restaurants in the Lancaster area for the same money. The service was okay at best. Water and bread were delivered within a few moments of being seated, but the server seemed overwhelmed with the number of tables she was dealing with, and consequently wasn’t able to give great service to any of the tables around us. Once again, it will be awhile until we return.
On a positive note, it was nice to hear a very fine pianist in the bar!
Marty1224, Thank you very much for sharing your candid thoughts. We greatly value your feedback and sincerely apologize that your experience did not meet your expectations. Your concerns are not taken lightly. In regards to our menu, we have been greatly limited in what we are able to offer due to COVID-19. I hope this brings some helpful perspective, but we also understand that our menu is not for everyone. We are grateful for your patronage and hope that you will return in the future!
Reliable good food and nice atmosphere. This was our second time and because it was Valentine’s Day it was busy and service was hurried a bit but still a great experience.
Thank you so much for spending Valentine's with us! We are so grateful for your patronage. :) Valentine's is one of the most popular days to dine out, so we deeply appreciate your understanding and are thrilled to hear that you still enjoyed your experience! We look forward to the pleasure of serving you again.
Our experience was not a good one. We waited awhile to order. From the time we sat down until we received our salads was 2 hours. The food was not all that great and wasn’t very hot when we receive it. Way over priced for the quality of food. Way too long to be there overall!
JennyS, We are sincerely sorry to hear of your less-than-desirable visit to our restaurant. This is on us completely. We always do our very best to create exceptional experiences for our guests, so it is genuinely heartbreaking when this standard is not met. Thank you for your candidness and honesty. This is not a typical showing of the Greenfield Experience and we do hope that you will give us another chance to sweep you off your feet. All the best, -The Greenfield Team
Outstanding food, Saturday evening with friends and their was a piano player. Very relaxing atmosphere even though we were in the bar area. The halibut was outstanding, as was the scallops with risotto. Blue cheese dressing was delicious.
CindyG, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a 5-star review! We are so glad that you enjoyed your experience here at The Greenfield Restaurant. Looking forward to serving you again in the future!
Kate our server is as always excellent.

First time diner... outstanding! John has chosen an amazing menu! Will be returning and sending any family &friends if they are in the area!
Cynthia, We are blown away by your kind words! Thank you so much for visiting - we look forward to the pleasure of serving you (and your family/friends!) once again. See you soon!
On the higher side for price, but quality, service, and ambiance all commensurate with the price structure. I would recommend and likely visit again
LarryK, What a kind review! It is our pleasure to provide only the highest levels of quality, service and atmosphere for our customers to dine. We look forward to the pleasure of serving you again soon!
Outstanding
Thank you so much for your patronage!
The food wasn’t great

Please let us know if there is anything we can do - we would love to serve you once again if you are willing to give The Greenfield another chance.
This is a favorite place to eat locally. Old historic inn. Service was very good and food was good quality and quantity. I think they are a bit pricey for lunch. I had the fish and chips. It was quite good.
We are so glad to hear that you count The Greenfield Restaurant as one of your favorites! We are honored. As I'm sure you know, we only use the highest tier ingredients and never sacrifice quality, which is why our prices can seem high. But we are proud to serve our customers only the best! Thank you for your patronage and we look forward to serving you again soon!
Absolutely perfect dinner! The food, the service and the ombiance were all excellent. Chez was an outstanding server.. Tonight was our first time dining at The Greenfield and it will certainly not be the last. We typically visit Lancaster at least once a year to enjoy the local Amish foods, but this year we wanted to enjoy some fine dining. My husband and I both had the Ribeye, medium rare, which was delicious. Our children had the chicken fingers with broccoli and chicken Parm from the kids menu and cleaned their plates. They even put a little flower on my daughter's plate, which she loved!
How encouraging to read such a kind review! We are so glad that you chose to visit our restaurant on your annual trip to Lancaster and hope that perhaps this will become tradition! We would love to serve you again. Thank you for taking the time to share your excellent experience!
What a great evening. It was my husband’s birthday and it was perfect from drinks to dessert and the pianist! Bravo
Happy birthday to your husband! We are so grateful that you chose to celebrate with us and we look forward to serving you again.
Dinner with my husband. Just needed a night out. We both ordered a Caesar salad with Halibut (fish of the day). Also shared an order of Calamari - pretty good. Hubby had shrimp bisque - just ok, tasted more like tomato soup than shrimp. Caesars with halibut were very good although the halibut did not have much taste as there was no seasoning on it - could have used a little salt and pepper when it was grilled - but at least it was moist and was cooked perfectly. My biggest gripe is that the tables are just too close together. Perhaps they are 6’ apart if you go center to center but the back of the persons chair behind me was within 3 feet. Not very safe for Covid rules. In the room next to us and the other rooms we walked through on our way upstairs, the rooms seemed pretty densely packed and I was very concerned about Covid transmission in that kind of environment. We were seated on the balcony upstairs so at least the airflow and density of people was a bit less there. But frankly I thought the rooms seemed very crowded, there is no restaurant I’ve been in for the last 6 months that was as densely packed as this one. So for that reason I will wait to go back until after we are vaccinated. I also just wanted to comment that the musician/entertainer they chose was a bit of an odd choice. He played and sang at first and that was ok but later on he started playing some goofy organ music. Felt like I was on some game show or watching Bill Murry in one of those old SNL cabaret skits. Overall we still had a good meal and good experience but I will wait a couple months to go back.
Enjoynit, Thank you for taking the time to share your observations & concerns with us. I apologize that you did not feel as comfortable as normal. We are doing our best to maintain a safe environment and we've had many positive reviews regarding our spacing, so this comes at a bit of a surprise! However, we are grateful for your input and will certainly reevaluate. Again, thank you for your candidness. We look forward to warmer weather and having the pleasure of serving you once again!
Incredible, warm service, the host actually waited on us because our waitress was so busy. He could not have done a better job. The food was delicious - I can’t remember the last time I had such perfect calamari. Oh and the warm olives! Crab cakes! It’s a bit pricey here- but the quality was impeccable. We will be back.
MelissaM, We are absolutely thrilled that you had such a wonderful experience here at The Greenfield Restaurant! Thank you for taking the time to leave such a kind review; we look forward to serving you again soon!
