Excellent service and fabulous food. Very relaxed atmosphere. Will be back.
Absolutely fabulous lunch for my husbands birthday. My mum had many allergies and they went out of there way to accommodate her requirements.
Great as always!
Lovely evening. Still one of best pubs for food in the area. Great relaxed but timely service also. Cheers
Service, food quality, ales, ambience all very good. You pays for wot u get!
Lovely food, great ambience outside in the marquee. Loved it.
A fantastic afternoon at Hoddington Arms. Food was amazing and the service was brilliant. Thank you
really nice place. friendly and accommodating for our needs! thanks
We were recommended here so this was our first time. The facilities were very good with a lovely tented area in the back garden. We started with cheese soufflé which was delicious as well as the home made bread. For main course we has sea bass. This was disappointing although the fish was tasty it came on a bed of vegetables of mainly peas and French beans. I was told when ordering that it came with new potatoes. I was hoping it came with the beef dripping chips but thought it looked greedy to ask for these as well. However I wish I had as the new potatoes were hardly visible. We also had two glasses of wine but no dessert which came to just over £90 with a tip. On the service this could have been a bit more proactive. The waitress realised that we had no side plates for the bread and said she would get some but never returned. With respect to the few new potatoes the waitress could have said would you also like a plate of chips between you. We left feeling unfulfilled although not hungry. If we go again I might try the burger instead.
Lovely Sunday lunch, the Chef got the flavours perfect. Good service being efficient and friendly. If I was to suggest 1 thing? It would be that I’d like to have seen a seasonal hot pudding on the menu, other than that I’ll be revisiting and can highly recommend
We decided on a Sunday lunch at The Hodd because of the excellent reviews. We were a little concerned about the limited menu, however, sometimes there is nothing better than a well executed simple dish, and that was what we expected.
Sadly, nothing of the sort.
The soufflé starter was tasty and the high point of the meal. However, the squid did not live up to expectations, was unimaginative with a tasteless crumb coating.
We then had to wait over 40 minutes for our main course. This was unacceptable as we were early diners when clearly the restaurant was not yet very busy. A tasty maincourse could have saved the day. The burger meat was dry and gristly. The lamb was very ordinary, all that I can say is that the vegetables were quite tasty. As we had waited a long time to eat and were very hungry we did not want to complain and then have to wait for reparations. As the burger was just about edible we finished our meal and then could not wait to leave.
What I would say to others, despite all the good reviews, is do not come here if you’re expecting anything better than a very average pub meal, and are serious dog lovers. Personally, we prefer not to have our meal surrounded by yapping dogs.
Great as usual. Always a treat. Great place for date night too.
Fabulous food, well worth being the designated driver as the tastes were delicious. Special mention for the chips with truffle oil and parmesan!
The combination of friendly and efficient staff and absolutely delicious food (+ attractive tented area) is irresistible!
Amazing food and service as always and a great menu
They have a full marquee out the back that is geared with lots of space and trouble taken with the decor so very Covid safe. Excellent food and service made it a great night out.
An interesting menu with some excellent fish choices -very good food and quick efficient service
Comfortable and pleasant surroundings.

Booked. Asked on the booking was it a birthday which I said it was. Most places when ordering a sweet which we did comes out with a candle or birthday message. Need a light lunch menu as well we felt. Only choice was a small salad. Which we had with a sweet and coffee.
Perfect as usual. Great food and service. All you could ask for in a country pub.
Sunday lunch was excellent - tender belly pork with tasty vegetables and crispy new potatoes. Dessert was a crime brûlée perfectly made with a crunchy top and unctuous centre. Service was friendly and efficient. Would recommend and will return.
A beautiful setting with polite and friendly staff. The food is always delicious! We have recommended the Hoddington Arms to lots of family and friends.
5 stars . Lovely staff . Great food . Great service . And a lovely setting .
Another lovely meal with great service. Love that the marquee is still up!!
Had a lovely meal and not rushed. Had a table in the old barn which was on the side of the pub. Nice and quite area which allowed you to talk to friends without shouting.
Very disappointing. Kids garlic bread with pesto (which overwhelmed any garlic). Bland main courses. Fish (fish & chips) very dry.
Service was slow.
Very expensive for food quality.
Marquee pretty but lacked atmosphere.
Blimming lovely!! Had a lovely meal and definitely recommend
Yet another excellent meal from the team at the Hodd
The service was efficient and helpful. The food was first class, it was unfortunate that we had a starter so did not have for one of their delightful sweets.
Fabulous Bank Holiday Monday lunch at The Hod, The food was delicious and so obviously freshly prepared. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and the large garden Marquee is a wonderful space. We are so very lucky to have this as our local.
We had a lovely evening as always. Staff food and the Marquee all lovely. Sea bass particularly good.
Nice food in lovely pub, food selection was great (the whole plaice I had was super)... prices are reasonable, not overpriced but not 'low end'... and quality of food was lovely. Good beer on tap also...
Staff were rather rushed of their feet - well there was a large hen-party in so that was understandable, but their service was spot on. All really nice people.
Of course we would visit again!
Stunning food, beautiful outdoor seating area, very attentive staff. We visit this place once a year as it’s quite far away from home. It just gets better and better every time and has never disappointed, but always exceeds expectations.
Absolutely superb experience all round. Food was brought promptly and by friendly & courteous staff. Menu was impressive with expertly thought-out variations on traditional gastropub classics. Every dish was fresh and hot, portion sizes were spot-on, and the chefs clearly know how to impress with both taste and presentation. Clean and comfortable outdoor eating area with a terrific ambience. Can’t recommend this pub enough - “The Hod” delivers everything you could want from English contemporary hospitality - and more.
Excellent food, service, staff and ambiance. Loved how the marquee has been done on the garden
Lovely relaxed lunch in the marquee
Lovely place to visit, would recommend it to anyone!
Lovely marquee for outdoor eating and very friendly service
Lovely Sunday roast dinner and very accommodating to allergies
Love love love the Hod! It’s such a friendly pub - both from a locals point of view as well as people wanting to treat themselves to something different. Highly recommend. ….. oh wait no I don’t…… i want it ALL TO MYSELF! ;-)
