At The Masons Arms we create a warm and welcoming ambience just as a local village pub should be. Our dishes focus on modern pub dining at it's best, traditional dishes with a bit of flair! Our menu changes regularly with daily specials making the most of seasonal produce often using fruit, herbs and vegetables grown in our own garden. There is a lovely pub garden to sit in when the weather permits!
Over the years we have lovingly developed the business and we are still making plans for further additions. Most recently we have opened a wood fired pizza oven and now offer stone baked pizza to eat in or takeaway. Pizza oven is open Thursday and Fridays 5pm-9pm, Saturday and Sundays 12pm-9pm.
We also have a microbrewery on site producing 6 ales brewed by the husband of the team.
We are dog friendly, there are treats on the bar, water by the back door and an enclosed exercise area to let them run off lead.
Enjoy a visit to a quintessential English pub in a beautiful ham stone village.

We’ve had some good meals here in the past, but unfortunately this visit didn’t live up to expectations.
The menu on the booking website was not on offer,, neither were the service times accurate…..
The actual menu on offer was very limited and disappointing.

Lovely old fashioned pub in a very quiet location. If the weather is nice there is the option to sit outside. Staff were attentive and helpful. Definitely recommend! 😊

Good menu choice , the children’s menu was reasonable too. Friendly and helpful staff. Tasty and well presented food, for a reasonable price. Service was quite slow , particularly as it didn’t seem very busy…..
Will probably return again though!

Disappointing experience in a pub that used to excel. It might have been an atypical night, but my halloumi was rock solid and excessively salty. The service was mediocre and ambience lacking charm. They need to do better!

Third time dining here and each time was outstanding. Breakfast also fantastic. Everthing is freshly prepared and good size portions. The hake is a smaller meal but absolutely delicious. Burgers really good, gammon was the best my husband has had and chilli nachos also great. Really good food and a lovely pub too. Would recommend.

The food here was amazing - even from the kids menu, which is too often an afterthought in pubs. Service was friendly and welcoming, and the venue was taking COVID security seriously.

We arrived on a busy night and were warned of a long wait for food.
Unfortunately, they were understaffed and some staff lacked training and appeared unprofessional.
The food was hit and miss. Hake was good, children's meals fine (apart from bones in the fish) but a basic caesar salad had soft croutons and a mediocre dressing. A £9 cheeseboard had a reasonable stilton and smoked apple wood but a camembert that tasted of nothing. A request for a chutney to accompany the cheese was met with mango chutney which I found very bizarre.
There was no food check during the meal and when I mentioned the issues, I was told to speak to the manager when I paid. By this time we had had enough so just paid our bill and left.
Regardless of the poor service (I can appreciate that it was busy), some of the quality of the food was poor.
We would not rush to return.

The staff are always friendly and do their best to accommodate us, especially my requirement for a dairy free option. The food is great, well presented and great value. The Masons Arms is an old pub with lots of character and has some really nice areas to sit as well as loads of seating outside too. The toilets have always been immaculately clean too which is reassuring. Overall, we love it!

This is the second time we have visited in the last couple of weeks. The lunchtime that we came last time was excellent. The menu was great and we were able to sit in the delightful garden. However this time we were a group of 5 in the evening. The menu isn't nearly so good, with nothing on the starters I would have chosen. I ended up with a burger as there was really nothing else that appealed on the main menu. One of our guests had the lamb. It was the size of 2 small golf balls and some indeterminate vegetables and burnt potato. For £20 this was exhortionate! The haddock was well overcooked. The only meal that looked appetising was the ham, egg and chips although this would be difficult to get wrong

For 6.00 p.m the restaurant was very busy, and I wonder if this pub is having the same difficulty that many pubs are having in getting good chefs.

The waiting staff were attentive and quick.

It is a lovely pub with good waiting staff, and I had hoped that this would be our go to 'local' pub, but I doubt we will have an evening meal there again unless the menu and ability to cook it properly changes

We booked for a Sunday evening meal in a pub, thinking it would be busy, especially as it was the evening of the finals of the euro football, but at 7:00pm, we were the only ones there, so the atmosphere was sadly lacking.
On our way up to the pub from the camping field, we passed lots of fruit, vegetables and herbs etc being grown in the garden, and so thought we would be in for a treat, But the food was only just about acceptable, and in no way reflected the price. The beer however was excellent.
To top off our experience, just before 8:30, we were told the pub closes at 8:30 on Sundays, and so we had to leave.
I have to say, though, the camping in the field behind was excellent for the night.
This is the first time we have felt the need to write a rather negative review.
