The Wolseley
Great breakfast. Serivce could do with more personlisation and agility.
Fab experience
Enjoyed breakfast at the Wolseley Very much Elegant surroundings just oozed quality Wolseley Staff Friendly polite professional and a quiet quality we had a lovely breakfast.
The Wolseley deserves its stature as a London institution. But this is no musty, old and established hall of history. Instead it's as vibrant as the day it opened. The staff define restaurant service as blending the best of European invisibility and English charm. The menu is simple, without affectation and the food reflects this philosophy. The food is perfectly produced and beautifully presented. It is a wondrous thing when there's no foam, no height, no beetroot bath crystals and no massive plates with minute creatures squirming in the vast expanse of porcelain. The wienerschnitzel is a beast of beauty; a substantial piece of breaded veal gently sautéed in good, pure, rich, old-fashioned butter. Fat bedamned! The wines are modern and available in glasses, appropriate for lunchtime responsibility. Most of all though it's the service that makes the Wolseley so formidable. Not just efficient and ubiquitous, it is informed, charming, clever and in many cases, witty. There's no hauteur to frighten the timid or the innocent. Everyone appears equal - even the disposition of tables seems equitable. Nothing is too much trouble, no diet goes unaccommodated. The Wolseley is everything AA Gill said about it eleven years ago - and he was focussed on breakfast! Bravo!
Loved it, service was impeccable
Birthday dinner. We were so lucky to get the table, and had a fantastic evening. Great food and service, really excellent. Thank you
Very poor service this time. Normally excellent
Have visited on many occasions and have always enjoyed it but this time it seemed to be lacking something. The food was mediocre and the staff indifferent. The dynamic was certainly changed.
It wouldn't prevent me from visiting again but if I have the same experience next time then it will be the last
Very Very good
This the third time for me in this restaurant. The service was disappointed at this time not like previous. In general, I can say it’s a good idea to have a breakfast at this restaurant once a month.
Lovely champagne cocktails and service
Lovely experience and great food.
Lovely restaurant. Service is attentive but not rushed. Food was delicious. Recommended.
It was great!
Decided to book the Wolseley for my wife's birthday breakfast. Had to change original booking time from 11 am to 11.30 am as travelling from Kent and did not want to be late and lose our table.
Officially breakfast finishes at 11.30 so we were very grateful to still be able to order from the breakfast menu when seated. The server took our order then returned with a 'Happy birthday' pastry (Which after taking home in a doggy bag, was devoured by my son).
The atmosphere was buzzing, we really enjoyed ourselves and our meal choices were delicious, I had the full English and the birthday girl enjoyed scrambled egg and salmon.
Perfect start to our day!
Not such great service and food not as good as usual
Brunch at the Wolsey midweek, we both had the cheese, potato frittata with courgettes. The dish was disappointing. It was definitely not cooked to order but reheated, as it was overly hot, the texture was rubbery and it tasted bland and overly greasy. Plane breakfast food came to mind. The side salad of dressed leaves contained a trio of thin mandolin slices of grilled courgette. I think I expected a lot more from the name and reputation of this place, perhaps this is just a tourist trap now. The dining room is packed, so there were a lot of people seemingly happy to accept mediocre food at high prices or maybe I chose the wrong dish? It’s noisy with all hard surfaces and high ceilings. First impressions, the front glass doors are smeary. The black pepper mill empty, yawn. Too many waiting staff milling about who barge into you without looking too. Best moment, the coffee was delicious, a large beautiful silver pot of perfect black coffee. Not enough sadly for me to try again. I’m on the lookout for a better brunch stop in Green Park.
Great wine list
Amazing place for breakfast the food is fantastic would recommend a visit the ambience is lovely I visit every time I’m in London
Loads of fun. Loved the wolseley. A classic. Great steak.
Should not have run out of Sunday roast by 8pm on Sunday.
Son’s birthday
Always excellent service and very attentive staff
Lovely restaurant, delicious food and attentive service. Well worth the money. Recommended.
Lovely dining room - and that’s what you pay for. Food was fine. However upon getting the bill discovered we’d been charged almost double for the bottle of wine we ordered. No apologies when they handed us back the new bill. So make sure you check yours!
Consistently outstanding service, ambience and food
Awkward 20 minute wait for table to be ready - clearly trying to pack in too many people!
Beautiful room, attentive staff & great menu. It is quite noisy in the restaurant - ideal for a lively lunch/dinner. Would definitely recommend & will return.
We had a early dinner at The Wolesley .The maitre d’ asked us if we were going on to a show and said that he would get us served in plenty of time when we said that we were. Service was very slick and efficient. Even though it was only 5.30pm the place was busy. My husband opted for the liver and bacon and I chose the Weinersnitchel. My husband enjoyed his meal but I have to say my snitchel wasn’t the best, I found it to be quite chewy. This was our second visit as we had a generous voucher that we had to spend both times and still have some money left on it but would I visit again when I have to pay myself, probably not. For the money it costs, I would choose to eat somewhere different. There are other places in London that charge less and have better food. It wasn’t awful, just average.
I arrange this lunch for my two best friends who were both 60 years old this year
I asked for a balcony table, which the Woolsley very kindly arranged they also arranged a beautiful written biscuit for my friends .
It had on it ,their names and birthday greeting .
Our servers were outstanding ,we were not rushed to finish our meals the food was delicious.
We were also given a selection of mini cakes.
Lovely restaurant. Breakfast service excellent. Food was served promptly, and we were not rushed with our dining. We will definitely be returning to dine again.
AMAZING SERVICE!
I cannot get over how wonderful everyone was.
I emailed them separately as it was my mums bday and they went above and beyond.
Incredible food and team- would recommend to anyone! Such reasonable value as well!
Gorgeous lunch, love the Wolseley experience. Never disappoints.
the beautiful atmosphere just next to the Ritz, a nice place to have dinner around the Mayfair area.
starter plates were amazing, while the main menu was just OK.
love the interior with high selling, the doorman was super iconic
A charming evening started in the bar. Delicious light food. Great atmosphere. Very chic
Comida muy agradable: todo delicioso y el servicio excelente.
The service was excellent and staffs very helpful. My Avocado bruschetta was excellent but my nephew had Full English breakfast and the whole thing was dry and overcooked
But all in all it was a nice occasion
Fantastic food, excellent service and a great atmosphere.
Not cheap, but worth the money spent
Always a favourite. We booked at very short notice, managed to get a table but had to wait for 20 mins because the table wasn't available. Great service and lovely food.
So disappointed to see the service go downhill this badly. First time we came on a Sunday and we’ll never do it again: long waits for tables with no appropriate space to fit everyone waiting. Also booked for afternoon tea as per permitted by website and were then told we couldn’t have it for another hour. Waiters are rude and point at you when taking the order (“for her?”) - awful manners. And to top it all off, started clearing up plates before the whole table finished. The quality of the food and the beautiful room are the saving grace...
