Great quality food! Very fresh and succulent Mahi Mahi
Amazing dinner, everything was delicious and the staff was appropriately attentive. We had a large group sit directly behind us, but the noise wasn’t disruptive. We were seated at a table by the windows and got to see a beautiful sunset.
excellent food and drinks...
service was very friendly - just really slow
Waiter lied & said we didn’t order- wasted an hour of our time
Let's be clear: you come to Tony and Joes for the ambiance and water view. Outside of that, it feels kind of like an upscale, over-priced Red Lobster. The food is subpar. I ended up sending my shrimp and grits back because the shrimp were undercooked and the grits were soggy. My mom ordered the crabcake platter, which consisted of one small cake atop a large mound of fresh vegetables (corn, zuchinni, baby potatoes, peppers). While the crabcake tasted fine, it wasn't large enough to warrant the $35 price tag. Before receiving our entrees, we received a bread basket which tasted stale. The best part of the meal was the crab dip which was chock full of lump crab, which made it easier to swallow the $18 price.
Service was just OK. The waiter didn't go out of his way to make us feel welcomed, and when I shared my concerns about the shrimp and grits, he nodded as if he'd heard it before, and then asked if I wanted something else in a rather annoying voice.
My mother remarked that she wished the menu had more variety, especially in the side dish department (maybe a baked potato, rice, or mashed potato option)?
Tony and Joes is in a beautiful, prime location. Just wish the food was equally as prime.
Service was good, food ok. Did not really get much value for money. Paid $8 for a glass of beer and $15 for a cocktail, and they had to be served in a cheap plastic cup? The staff were very friendly and nice though.
We had the best oysters!
Old bay fries were awesome!
Lived my sighting abs my son. Loved the stock pot !
Half of the mussels were still closed. Server responds “that’s how it is sometimes” // martinis are served in a wine glass and not chilled. Turn and burn atmosphere. No engagement.
Other than that. The oysters were very good. Crab cake was full of flavor. ++
We sat outside bc it was a beautiful evening- and I guess we haven’t been there in a while bc it was MUCH more casual than I remember- metal outdoor table & chairs, not as clean as I expected or the level of service I expected. That said, the food was amazing- all seafood- and being outdoors was lovely. I just wouldn’t call this upscale dining at all.
We could not find the waitress for 20 minutes. We ordered seafood which was messy and we could even get napkins to wipe our hands. The drinks taste like water, not sure if they were sitting or just tasted liked water. The waitress never came back to the table.
Service was very accommodating and attentive. Food was smaller portions for appetizer than we were aware of though.
Pleasant experience, great service!
Celebrated my boyfriend’s birthday.
Awesome good and server-Milly-was fantastic
It was lovely!
It was a bit noisy. The food was good.
Allen was a fantastic waiter and was very attentive to our large table of 10. Our drink glasses didn't go dry. The food was great as well and all meals arrived hot and cooked to order.
Calamari was good and service was fine. My daughters chicken tenders were way over cooked and my fish tacos were very bland. For the price we could have went to a higher end place and received much better food and experience.
You have to call or go on their actual website to get an updated menu, it changes quite often. The server wasn't friendly at all. In the midst of indecisiveness, she would just walk off. Indecisiveness was due to seeing an old menu before hand and not knowing they change the menu often. There wasn't much for non- seafood eaters to choose from with this menu change. The other people who bought our food out deserved the tip the most and not the actual waitress we were given. In all the food tasted good but the options in food were few. To be honest, for the price there should be a dress code, bigger food selection and drink selection. I think this wasn't the best option for a classy birthday dinner party.
Great food, good service, nice atmosphere
Outstanding service. Happy a great birthday. Thank you
Loved option of dining in ac but having marvelous water view of yachts and SUPaddle folks and parade of people walking the boardwalk in comfortable padded chairs. Branzino entree was worth the $34–and really was enough fir two. Eggplant that accompanied was delicious in its own right.
Teriyaki salmon was moist, large portion thst also could have been shared. Delicious flavor.
Tried two kinds of fresh oysters and they were fresh, delicious with two sauces. Had to ask for crackers. Server was friendly but not well trained. Skip briusselsprouts—need balsamic glaze or something / seasoning or feta crumbled etc.
Overall delicious meal with friendly service. Pricey but split entrees—view and good food is unbeatable combo. August 20,2021
Great seafood. Enjoyed the peel and eat shrimp and crab cakes. The owner Tony stopped by our table to check on us. Great guy and obviously cares about his customers and restaurant. We will return soon!
Good experience! Will definitely be back- hopefully it doesn’t rain on us next time because the outdoor dining experience with view is why we originally Made reservation. Crap dip appetizer was delicious!
Visited for restaurant week and had the crab cake. It, along with the salad and mango sorbet, was delicious. Our server, Milica, was very accommodating. There was a large party dining near by and one of the guests made a loud outburst. Staff members quickly went to the table and asked for them to lower their voice, which was greatly appreciated. I will definitely return and try other items on the menu.
Celebrated my daughter graduating from college with family and everyone enjoyed themselves. Our server, Milica, was very attentive and honest (I'll explain later). The food was excellent. Prepared and served quickly. Had a table for ten situtated with a great view of the Potomac River, Kennedy Center, and the boardwalk. Back to our server. Due to the size of our party gratuity was automatically included but we wanted to leave Milica something extra. As we were leaving she brought to our attention that the gratuity was already added when she noticed the extra tip we left. Honest! Very enjoyable outing.
Been coming here for years to trip myself and friends whenever we go biking and make our loop from Bethesda to DCA and back.
Was shocked the last time that we found out that a reservation was needed to sit outside. There were ample tables available. I guess a shortage of help?
Food is good as always, albeit a bit pricey for burgers.
Sitting outside during the summer after biking and in the evenings during the fall cannot be beat!
Great seafood, service, and people watching!
Lovely view, atmosphere and timely courteous service. Excellent food choices and drinks. Crab dip appetizer, shrimp and grits entree were delicious. Lemon cake for dessert was perfect ending to a delightful brunch.
Excelente locación en la parte de afuera, un buen menú pero nada extraordinario. El lugar es lo que más resalta del restaurante
My experience at Tony and Joe's was great. The waitress was nice food, knowledgeable, and provided excellent customer service. The food was fresh, but the portions were small and the price was high.
Did not expect the branzino to be fried but it was delicious; very happy that there was plenty of outdoor seating and that the wait staff is masked,
My friend got lost (GPS) en route to the restaurant and was an hour late arriving to the restaurant. I arrived on time and ordered an appetizer. I appreciate the restaurant allowing me to keep our table while I was waiting for her to arrive.
The Restaurant Week lunch menu was disappointing (Salmon Salad, Chicken or Shrimp Tacos and Sorbet). Thought that at least a crab cake sandwich or shrimp dish would be on the Restaurant Week menu. While service was slow, waiters and bus staff were courteous. Crab cake dinner was good. Enjoyed eating outside on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon.
Great venue with excellent service and reasonable menu offerings
Water had ash and hair in it. Told the server who giggled and never replaced the water. Then she left and returned about 30 minutes later for for a drink order. 20 minutes later. But no lemonade. Took food order. Food came in a good time. But one sandwich was burned black. Pointed it out and was told toasted bun. See picture. Black as charcoal. Again a laugh and yes she will get the lemonade. Al. On all just a terrible experience. Wouldn't recommend to anyone.
Moms birthday dinner
The food was actually very good, but the best part of the whole experience was being right there by the river. We'll definitely go again.
Wish I’d picked a different place for a waterfront meal. Between the boats blasting their music and the bar blasting music, it is anything but relaxing. The food was good but very very slow. Staff was friendly enough but absent for long periods of time. Took 15 minutes to order, our food took 45 minutes and was served lukewarm. I’d try one of the neighboring restaurants next time. We won’t be going back.
