Great food just a little pricey expect to pay $100 a person
First off, it was freezing in the restaurant, the whole time I was there I could not take off my coat. Second I eat Gluten Free and the GF menu was small. I first tried the bolognese but did not like it at all, so they made me the chicken which was suppose to take only 10 minutes to make. 20 minutes later I get the dark meat leg of chicken over polenta, nope didn't like it either. It was a no go for me. My husband loved his lamb with crusted blue cheese. But I think if you eat GF you are not going to be happy. Unfortunately for us we will not be returning.
While the food was fresh and artfully prepared, it felt overpriced and short on flavor. Service was friendly and attentive but clumsy and she forgot to tell us about specials.
Great service, meal and ambience! Always have a great time there!
Had a great dinner the food was amazing. Had to wait 35 minutes for our table even though we had a reservation.
First off, amazing service. Our waitperson was so friendly, helpful and attentive.
Seconds the food was fantastic. My wife and I are on weight watchers and after 120 days of faithful performance we both went off the rails tonight because the food was so good - from the chocolate cherry bread to the friend Brussels sprouts salad with beets to the entrees of salmon and scallops.
Always love Tosca. We were there early and the noise level seemed less than usual.
Great food and wine.
As always wonderful food selection and excellent service.
Another great evening at Tosca. Kelly our server was attentive, gracious and her explanation of the menu options were incredibly helpful with our decisions for our meals. She frequently checked in with us and was personable and friendly. Kelly was wonderful and our meals were outstanding. Squash soup, seared sea scallops and King crab ravioli were all fantastic.
Food as service excellent as usual
Great food and ambience always.
The $52 dollar rib eye steak had been char-grilled and tasted burnt. The accompanying broccolini also tasted burnt. $12 for a portion of fries is steep however you look at it. The rest of the food was unremarkable. We had issues with our server but they comped us a free dessert. The wine was poor value and was delivered after our food had arrived for both courses. So, an overly expensive, average meal, we won't be going back.
We had to wait 30 min before we were seated, despite having a reservation. Once seated, there was no apology, never mind a complimentary drink for having us wait a whole half hour. The food was okay but the half can of corn thrown over my salmon was bizarre. Won’t be going back any time soon. There’s a distinct arrogance in the air at Tosca and I’m not sure when it started but it’s entirely unnecessary. Other restaurants in the area like Alma Nove and Oro in Scituate are far, far better.
I've been to the restaurant several times and enjoy the food. What bothered me during this visit was how dark the restaurant was. I always knew it was dim - however, I looked around and there were a lot of patrons using their iphone flashlights to read the menus. What a turn off. Also when the food came - you couldn't see the plate of food well. Totally unnecessary and a safety hazard when walking through the restaurant.
Honestly, I'm not in a rush to return.
We enjoyed a lovely evening at Tosca with excellent service and food. The mushroom pate was delicious and a delightfully different appetizer. Lamb chops encrusted in Gorgonzola were cooked perfectly at medium rare and also delicious. A perfect place for a special occasion.
A belated Valentine’s Day dinner, minus the chaos.
Put in a reservation for 7 people 4 days prior, which ended up being 5 people for a birthday dinner. Reserved a nice table by the window which was accomidated. Got there when it opened at 4pm. I had not been here in years but you would think they would have a seat by the door if we couldnt sit right away. We had my grandfather in a walker come so he went right to the table to sit. Hostess didnt think that was approprate, she should had sat us once we walked in. Got there at 5 mins to 4pm. Robin was our server she was great! Read off the specials and understood our tables needs always checked in on us as well. The chocolate bread was so good with the oil and hummus dip. My mom, Birthday lady, got her delmonico steak med rare, I tried it was cooked perfectly, and i hardly eat steak. Dad got the rib eye, 51 bucks later, pricy but good, grandfather loved the lemon ravioli. Sister got the white pizza and chili drizzle and I got the chicken marsala lasagna, good but alot of cheese for me. We shared gnocchi side, very good sweet with fig, and mashed potatoes. We we're too full for the cake there so we brought it home, also saved us a cutting fee, just in time as they turned the lights down. Would go back again for a special occasion. Bill was over 300 for 5 people.
Never a bad meal, and generally excellent experience. Great food, cozy feel. Can get a bit loud and busy. The service was very good.
As always, best food and service
Tosca's in Hingham is a great place to celebrate with people you love. The atmosphere is great, service and attention of wait staff is excellent. Quality and quantity of food was just perfect. I would highly recommend this restaurant and hope to go back again soon.
Absolutely first-rate food, service—as always. Our home away from home.
The best restaurant in Hingham by far. excellent staff and the food is always great. Not for the faint of wallet but you get what you pay for which is why it is always busy. It's our go to restaurant.
The Ambience is perfect with cosy low night that's still bright enough to read the menu. The service is attentive but not invasive. The food was excellent although not especially imaginative. I had filet mignon, which was as good as I have had at popular steak houses in Boston. It was my wife's birthday and they surprised her with a candle and ice cream and no embarrassing singing. Not a cheap place, but good value considering the quality of the environment, service and food. We'll definitely go back.
I gotta say...everything was delicious!! Jackie provides excellent service. Some of the price points were out of sight like $52 for a veal chop but there were other options. We were chilly and my husband draped his coat over his lap which was unfortunate but it’s a lovely place that does not disappoint.
The restaurant was more than I expected. The food was perfect and just the right amount. My favorite part of the evening was the band. My goodness, I thought I was in the city of Boston at a jazz club. They were perfect and so entertaining! I will come back just for them.
First time fabulous food great waitress great service will be back
Great dinner and fun birthday celebration. we can’t wait to return We are so fortunate to have such a fine restaurant in Hingham! Delicious
We've never had such poor and unattentive service. We are regular customers and this was a special event. Disappointed.
Wonderful food. Make sure you let them know very loudly that you did opentable (the manager left a very nice msg for me after I called and let him know that I got a note from OpenTable saying we hadn't been there and we had.). Waiter was very attentive. Food selection is great. My husband had the prime rib and I had the amazing brussel sprouts and beets and the squash soup. The breads were delicious too.
Its a little too dark, even for a saturday night but the food was delicious, the service attentive and the ambiance was warm and cozy.
Great restaurant and wonderful food - you get what you pay for and more. Our waiter Tim was wonderful and had a great personality.
Always excellent. Never disappoints. And the service is great.
We love Tosca - atmosphere is lovely. Menu recently refreshed needs more interesting options - specials are always special.
We had an excellent dinner at Tosca this past Friday night. The old saying stands true - you pay for what you get. Tosca stacks up to Boston restaurants. We sat at the counter watching the well-oiled team turn out excellent cuisine. I got the veal chop and my husband got the scallops - all fabulous. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable and personable.
food is good but dosent justify price / for two couples / entrees / cocktails and desert bill was $500 ( 2 drinks per guest)
My only complaint was the smell. There is a grilled brussel sprout dish on the menu that makes the entire restaurant stink...and I like brussel sprouts... but the smell is offensive.
Dined at Tosca Saturday Night with friends. Tim was our waiter and he was outstanding! My swordfish was perfectly prepared and hubbys filet rivaled any Boston steakhouse. Tim even secured us a table in the wine room after dinner to enjoy the live music. Great night with friends and fantastic food!
Very loud. The noise level ruined the ambience of the rustic decor. The dining room tables were on top of each other making it near impossible to hear conversations. Great people watching.
Service was outstanding. Pamela was a pleasure. The ambiance is outstanding with great old historic architecture. The food however was average at best. The steak was tough and over cooked for all 3 of us. So for the pricey meal tab I would not recommend.
