Umberto's of New Hyde Park - Original
"rated best sicilian pie in NY" cheese & tomato sauce
It took an hour and a half to get our food and it was obvious that it had been sitting in the back for a long time before it was served. the cheese was congealed on the parmesan dishes and others was cold. the only good dish was the one they forgot originally so it came out fresh.
we barely got an apology from the waiter or the manager and he took off two meals from our bill when only 2 of 9 meals were edible.
I would definitely never go back or recommend this restaurant to anyone.
on a side note the bus staff was great.
Hands down best grandma's pizza! Good classic Italian dishes
I go the twice a month. I order the same appetizer every time. The portion was half the size at the same price. The waiter apologized and blamed the owners. When we were finished with our dinner. The waiter brought us a Tiramisu in a glass. We didn’t order it. I figured he was being nice because of the half size appetizer portion. When the bill came I noticed I was being charged for the Tiramisu. I paid the bill and complained to the waiter. He claimed the manager charged me not him and was willing to remove the tiramisu from the bill. I told him to keep it and the manager was a creep.
very enjoyable evening with coworkers. Food was delicious.
Food was very good and plentiful a bit noisy under the tent.
Waiters, waitresses and staff were very friendly and I would recommend this restaurant to other guests
The food was excellent! Our service was outstanding. We had a wonderful experience and we will be back for sure.
Service was slow and the waiter rarely visable. The decor is upscale cafeteria and the noise level high, On the positive side, the food was good - say 7 of 10.
Arrived for 6 pm reservation and there were no tables. They then told me to wait near a table that was being cleaned then gave the table to someone on waiting list.
Waited about 20-25 minutes for a table. Nothing was offered to us. Not a drink or maybe a free dessert. No apology. Just a mess
Service once we sat down was great. Food was great
I'm vegan and ordered the cauliflower personal pizza with roasted peppers, onions and mushrooms. I specifically told the waiter "no cheese." My pizza was served to me with fresh mozarella. I had to send it back and because my sisters orders were already on the table I asked for just some pasta with sauce, since that would be the quickest order. I again specified "no cheese." My pasta and sauce came and it had grated cheese on it. I had to send back my order again. Finally my pasta and sauce came without any cheese. But as I began eating two woman at the next table had a dog with them who began to yelp, jump and bark. They picked the dog up and let it eat from the plates on the table. This totally turned me and my sisters off. The barking and yelping was annoying. I don't understand how restaurants think letting dogs into restaurants is okay. It's dirty and unsanitary. Will never go back to this restaurants.
Our server Miguel was sensational, just as always. The whole staff is great!!
Wife’s chicken scap. Came out burnt. Tasking terrible and even the waiter said wrong sauce.
Also, I had shrimp Over pasta. Was okay.
By the time my wife could not eat I was halfway thru my meal. Finally got a waiter who brought over the manager.
We could get you something else. Was to late.
What was I to do watch her eat.
He took her meal off the bill of course.
Look things happen but, that chicken should have not come out of the kitchen.
We have gone to Umbertos. Many times. Very sad
Yes things happen, however, must raise the standards and was the restaurant sold during the pandemic and yes lots of money put into refurbishment.
Hey, put in into the food And sync your servers with the waiters to deliver food to the right tables. LOL
Good food, attentive service great waiter. Just what you want when you dine out.
Waiter wasn’t attentive
The food was sadly nothing to talk about, whereas in the past, it was outstanding. Not a huge fan of the new renovation. No character or personality. New chairs extremely uncomfortable. Disappointing.
Newly renovated dining room. Always top notch service. Wonderful Father’s Day meal.
Great place for classic Italian American favorites pizza is a must try
Great food. Great service
Popular local spot heavy with pizza options but also offers pasta dishes, salads, Italian specialty entrees, etc. We had mozz sticks (standard) and fresh homemade mozz with tomatoes and peppers app which was very good (would have liked balsamic vin with it...guess I should have asked...still very good). Rigatoni and Tomato sauce was one of our entrees with no complaints from picky pasta loving daughter. We had the grandma pizza which is just a square thinner crust pizza cooked in a Sicilian pizza pan. The pizza was perfectly cooked the pizza sauce AMAZING, the cheese and roni yummy. The crust was perfectly cooked but thought the flavor of the pizza dough was kind of on the bland side. Still the exceptional sauce and cheese made the pizza still very solid!
Our server Wilfredo was on point and very helpful with food suggestions. The food was really good..no complaints
waiter forgot food and silverware got wrong check
Everything was perfect! Service was amazing and the food was great!
Best pizza anywhere
The food was excellent, the service was excellent not much else to say.
You simply can't go wrong eating here. Have one of the best pizzas and calzone on Long Island. There are no better appetizers and entrees, fresh and delicious. Our table had the linguine w/ white clam sauce, sausage with broccoli rabe, shrimp fra diavolo and veal rollatine. You can always have a favorite dish, but there are no best dishes - they are all superb. Be sure to make reservations.
I made rsvp outdoors . Was told I had to sit indoors. We waited 45 mins for a waiter to come over to take out order . I order fresh mozzarella and tomato for appetizer. It wasn’t fresh at all my meal was good but definitely not worth going back to . The owner didn’t seem to care
Food was good. Service was ok. It was a pizzeria that had sit down service, nothing too special.
We were seated right away in the outdoor dining area and though it was busy we weren’t rushed and the noise level was very bearable. Our waiter Pasquale was great and easily answered any questions that we had about the menu.
We were seated in the side room with the plastic petitions separating the tables so the atmosphere wasn’t that nice. It is much nicer in the second floor or even the pizza dining area. I have been going there constantly for the past two months. Yesterday the portions were 1/3 smaller then they normally are. I asked the waiter if I ordered a half size by mistake he commented the owner is cutting back on the portions. A noticeable difference in just1 week. 👎🏻
Wonderful meal. Great service. Have been coming to this restaurant for over 40 years.
All types of choices. Love. Love. ❤️
It's one of my go-to restaurants, but this time a tad disappointing. The outdoor scene was bustling, but there were few tables occupied indoors. That resulted in almost no service. They're in the process of renovating, so I'm waiting to see the changes. Food is always good.
Food was excellent, service spotty.
Lovely staff, excellent food, wonderful restaurant
Love, love, love Umberto's of New Hyde Park. The bread, that is made there, is delicious. The house dressing for the salad is wonderful. Pick any entree on the menu; you cannot go wrong.
We were there on Mother's Day, so it was crowded (still spaced). We needed to sit downstairs because my mom could not do the stairs. Unfortunately, currently with the construction not complete, it was hard to hear ourselves talk.
Can't wait to see the place when it is done with the new expansion.
Everything was spicy! I asked if the sausage in the cavatelli was spicy and the waiter said no but he failed to mention that the brocolli rabe and the rest of the plate had so much spice I couldn't really eat it. My kids said their dishes of gnocchi were also very spicy and the calamari appetizer was rubbery. The bread was hard. I also order escarole and white beans and even that had so much hot pepper that I couldn't eat it and my husband thought it was also overly salty. The waiter was very nice but in general food and drinks took a really long time to come out. We had heard so many good things BUT we were very disappointed!!!
We arrived on time for our reservation and we were told they did not have it. When presented with our email confirmation, they still refused to seat us. Restaurant was very overcrowded. Very disappointed
Food was great tasting but we waited over an hour and half for it.
