Exceeded expectations which were already high. Wonderful tasting menu. Every course flavorful and well presented. Bucket list destination.
The food was on another level. Unless there is something you are dying to eat, get it, otherwise leave it in the hands of the chef! Each dish had a nice surprise, the goat dish was epic! It brought me back to my childhood summers in Ecuador, evoking emotion and memories. It was as if my family was in the dining room. I can’t wait to go back.
Excellent service, food and ambience. Live in NYC, but would gladly travel to Philly to experience again
It was amazing! Will definitely be back!
We went for our anniversary, and the entire experience was amazing. Our waiter, Christopher, and the entire staff were outstanding. So knowledgeable, personable and had a desire to serve. Absolutely wonderful dining experience that catered to our dietary restrictions. We enjoyed every moment. Highly recommend.
This place is special from food to service. Everyone should try at least once.
Probably the best meal of my life! The attention to detail and service really puts this restaurant in a class by itself. Mortgage the house, sell a child - but figure a way to get here at least once!
Excellent food and service Lots of attention to the diners which was not obtrusive
A very special meal.
Did wine pairing with lunch. Great meal & service. Will be back.
I dined here on a prior occasion and had a good experience. For this occasion, the waiter was pleasant and asked us if there were foods we did not wish to have. We both mentioned that we do not eat foie gras. Foie gras was brought to our table as one of the initial appetizers which we did not eat. That was disappointing. Moving into the meal, many components of the meal were pleasant and some simple vegetables were outstanding. The first sampling of bread however had too strong of a malt flavor. Although I like sea salt in butter, it was oversalted. The yogurt sorbet we had later would’ve had a pleasant fruit flavor but it was also canceled by the over abundance of salt. I found it curious that other older reviews also mentioned that some of the food was over salted. If they could get this in check, it may present a much better dining experience. The pork entree was okay-not stellar. Although I love ribeye steak, their presentation was not good. I don’t know what they were trying to accomplish but they should rethink that. Most of the pasta was very good with the exception of the mushroom gnocchi. The desserts were not particularly creative nor fresh. A rhubarb crumble was OK. The biscotti they packed for us to take home was good.
Stellar food and experience!!!
What can I say, except awesome experience. The staff (especially Diana our primary server) was phenomenal. They really seem to enjoy working there and are incredibly knowledgeable about both food preparation and the wine list. The food is at such a high level compared to most restaurants. They will give you what you like and not serve you anything that you don’t want (for us no raspberries or octopus/squid). We shared: 4 appetizers, 4 pastas, 2 entrees, 3 kinds of bread and numerous desserts that we had to bring home, we were so full (although the portions are very reasonably sized).
We also got to meet Chef Vetri who is really a great, regular guy.
Not an inexpensive meal but if you want a special meal, I highly recommend this place!
We went for my husband's birthday, all of the wait staff were incredibly kind and professional. They also know the food, how it was prepared and answered any questions. Will certainly go back for a special occasion.
The best dining experience in a city that has many outstanding dining experiences. The menu staples never get old and there are always new things to try that become you new favorite thing. The inherent challenge is whether to focus on your long standing favorites or something new. It’s a balancing act. The only real solution is to go more often, if you can. This is a dining destination no matter where you are coming from in the world (if closer to Vegas that location is just as fabulous).
Everything was just outstanding. Highly recommend having the chef choose your courses, you will not be disappointed, and you DEFINITELY will not leave hungry. There are many small courses, and delicious bread in between most. The service is extremely detailed, and they make you feel like you’re the only one in the restaurant. They walk you through each course, and start by briefing you on some of the ingredients in the courses to make sure you will be satisfied with everything. The price looks expensive, but I felt it was completely justified after the food and service we received. We traveled from Pittsburgh just to go here. As a chef myself in a fine dining restaurant, I wish to be half as talented as Marc Vetri and his crew.
The food was excellent and they took care of my wife's gluten and milk problems
What a beautiful and intimate spot to have the meal of your life! Everything is utter perfection from the moment you walk through the door. The knowledgeable staff is friendly, with not a hint of stuffiness or showing off, a true testament to their incredible hospitality. Attention to detail from one plate to the next will confirm what a true artist Chef Marc Verti is. And the food... words can't really capture what it's like, but I can say this: this experience will stick with you for a lifetime.
A very good but not great restaurant. The largely fixed menus with multiple small dishes means you’re going to like some dishes more and some less. The food style is usually to create each dish with multiple ingredients which hopefully balance/go with each other. This was less enjoyable for me than I had hoped.
If I go again I’ll pick items from the course groupings rather than allow the ‘chef to pick for me’ as they suggest. I’ll also choose one bottle of wine from the wine list, which I haven’t seen, rather than let them choose a taste of many different wines to go with each dish. Those wines were quite acceptable but nothing to write home about.
Finally, the service is attentive but a little forced, and they tend to over-explain everything.
Our second visit. The best restaurant experience we have ever had. Each course was exquisite and the service was outstanding.
It’s truly a dining experience. One you should explore. Have an open mind. Let the chefs decide what to offer you. You won’t go wrong. Also, despite a hefty price tag, go for wine pairing. It’s an educational experience about the regions, the vineyards, the ingredientes. My husband and I were mesmerized by our lovely waitress. Always a wonderful experience!
One of the best meals I've ever had... Vetri is doing things with pasta that blew my mind. (The chard gnocchi-- how did he do that?) If you can, get there.
Not many superlatives could be draped on this now-legendary Northern Italian gem. The mater himself is in and out of the kitchen attending to every detail—even on a Thursday evening in May!
A thoroughly satisfying experience. Superior service. Outstanding food. Wonderful wine pairings.
My adventure at Vetri was amazing. I was dining alone as I was in Philadelphia on business. At no time did I feel awkward about being alone. The staff made the meal seem like a journey we were embarking on together and guided me through the courses.
I will definitely be visiting again when I am back in Philadelphia.
Never disappoints; always superb service and phenomenal food!
Best restaurant in Philly.
First thing I do after making plans to be in Philadelphia is to book reservations here. Sometimes before the plane ticket. Incredible staff, amazing food.
A little pricey which we knew going in but one of the best, if not THE best, meals we’ve ever had in 40 years of Philadelphia dining. Just outstanding!
Many tastes of many things. Portions sizes to allow you to taste the entire meal. Wine list quite diverse though if anything some added new world reds would be great especially at reasonable price points. Be prepared for a meal of about $250 per person.
I don't know if I could write a review that accurately captures just how amazing this meal was. My husband and I were in Philadelphia for less than 48 hours and decided to throw caution to the wind and splurge on dinner. We didn't know when we'd ever be back in town, so we figured we might as well try what is supposed to be best restaurant in the city, if not the country.
Everything was incredible. From the moment we walked in the staff was friendly and the restaurant was warm and inviting. The service was some of the best I've ever had. Our server, Eric, was phenomenal, but it is worth a shout out to everyone else at the restaurant too as others came out to bring food and clear plates.
The entire meal was truly amazing. We were absolutely stuffed to the brim by the end, but everything was so good, I was trying to figure out how to fit more food in my mouth so I didn't waste anything. We let our server choose our courses for us and he nailed our tastes right on the head and every single bite was savored. I LOVE food and have eaten as some incredible restaurants (including living in Chicago for 14 years which I feel is important to mention). This was undoubtedly one of, if not THE BEST meal I've ever enjoyed. I would go back to Philly just to eat here again.
If you have 2.5 hours and the means to splurge on dinner, do not think twice. GO TO VETRI.
Very impressed with the quality of food and service. Every member of the team at Vetri Cusina had an excellent knowledge of the menu, wine pairings and took the time to learn our tastes to match it to the tastings dishes the chef selected for us. We had one request, that their goat secondi be included in our tasting. It was and it was wonderful and paired with the other dishes and wine selected for us.. We travel extensively and have dined at some of highest rated restaurants, worldwide. Our evening at Vetri Cusina was a unique experience that we will always remember and will continue to receive an enthusiastic recommendation for sometime.
Totally worth the splurge! Everything was fantastic. Loved all but one of the pairings, which was promptly replaced with a wine I liked better. Great way to celebrate our anniversary.
One of the best meals we have ever had! Service was fantastic.
An excellent experience for a special occasion. Every course was a delight and a surprise. The pasta courses reminded us of Italy, truly outstanding.
Unbelievable service. The staff really completed our evening.
Fantastic lunch! They accommodated my allergies and some preferences which was great.
And as a bonus, I even got to meet a well known Hollywood director who was there doing a a type of food and career related interview segment for PBS!
Very cute 11 table restaurant with seasonal menu and a multi course dinner. Very cute and cozy and ambiance with super friendly staff. It was our wedding anniversary and my wife’s birthday and they brought free moscato as well as a candle on the dessert without me having to prompt them. It’s probably one of the best dinners we have had. Highly recommend this place for special occasions !
Unfortunately I gave into the hype surrounding this restaurant despite the bad reviews online and from friends. My husband and I had an 8:30pm reservation, and were not seated until 9:15. For a restaurant that strictly confirms with your credit card info, I would expect more prompt seating. To be fair, we were offered drinks and a "snack" but seeing how tiny and uncomfortable the waiting area was, we didn't really want to take them up on any food while waiting.
Once seated, we were given a menu that implied that all items on it would be served. The waiter did make note of our dietary restrictions and preferences, but what we did not realize was that they were going to select items for you if you did not specifically point anything out. I felt they could have done a better job at explaining this. Any other tasting menu I've ever had anywhere else either gives you everything on the menu, or specifically points out what your options are.
The first course included small snacks and some raw vegetables, all of which were unimpressive. Various breads were served in between each course....while the foccacia was tasty, who wants to spend $165 to fill up on bread?? We were then served 3 antipasti.....The scallop was great, and the onion crepe and tuna crudo were average.
The pasta tasting was the high point of the meal. If this restaurant did a solo pasta tasting, I would come back. The gnocci, ravioli, and tortellini were all incredible. Unfortunately all the entrees that followed were average at best. We were served the most bland goat over polenta, and equally uninspiring ribeye. Why would any tasting menu bring you 2 courses of red meat? I would have been much happier to have received the fish or the poultry options, but this goes back to them not telling us that they would be selecting for us. That should have been clearly stated.
All of the dessert options were great which saved the experience for us. Unfortunately, the rest left so much to be desired.
The most amazing service and food. Came here for tenth anniversary and it felt appropriately special.
