The design of the restaurant is a modern interpretation of the old Chinese teahouse. At the same time, the lighting and seating embodies the atmosphere of a vibrant ‘chatter shop’, similar to the traditional Hong Kong dim sum restaurants.
The restaurant offers Cantonese dishes with a modern influence, with an extensive range of steamed, baked, grilled and fried dim sum such as Yauatcha’s signature dishes of Scallop shui mai and Venison puffs.
The Taste of Yauatcha menu is designed for two people to share and is offered from Monday to Thursday between 2pm and 6pm for £28.88.
We had a great meal but it was very disappointing to be told at 8:45pm that last food orders would be at 9:00pm and that all the dishes would be brought out at the same time. The waitress didn’t apologise for this and came to inform us this was the case. When I questioned this to ask if this was usual, she told us there ‘was some problems in the kitchen today’. Our food was delicious but the dim sum starters were brought together with the rice and vegetables. Our main courses then followed a few minutes after. It was a shame that we weren’t informed in advance that this would be the case and we felt somewhat rushed in deciding on our order. It seemed that the restaurant thought this was fine as they had told us but they didn’t apologise for it...
Delicious food. Lovely ambiance. Slightly impractical seating for tall men in the lower floor banquettes especially when you want to linger over your meal.
Have eaten here a few times recently from date night to business dinners and Christmas entertaining. The food is outstanding, well presented and full of flavour. The service is consistently, without exception, brilliant.
Everything was excellent. Couldn't reccomend Yauatcha highly enough.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in London. Been there at least 5 times now. Good is delicious but a bit on the pricey side. The ambience downstairs is much nicer.
Delicious food and great service
Good post theatre venue
We ordered the signature tasting menu and absolutely loved it! Great place and not too loud for a friends’ catch up! Minor issue: sore legs after sitting for 3 hrs at a low table 😋
Food is always very good. Service can be variable though.
Thank you very much for excelent dinner! It was more tnak wonderful...
Excellent food and outstanding service. Good value for money! Nice surroundings.
The food and the service was outstanding i have given Yauatcha Soho 4 stars and not 5 only because it was noisy, it didn’t need the music as it only forced people to shout at each other.
That said we will definitely be going back, much more on the menu to try.
Amazing food, venison puffs were incredible. Best dim sum I've ever tried! Seemed a little understaffed though with our waitor seeming very stressed.
We ordered the £60 per specialty menu and everything was so delicious and fresh. Half way through I was stuffed but my husband devoured everything that was left. The dim sum was my favorite part.
As great as always. This was our 7th time and there will be many more to follow.
The service was excellent from the minute we walked in, even though it was a Saturday afternoon and very busy, you didn’t feel it at all. After we were seated, staff were attentive, polite, and we didn’t wait long for the food, despite how busy it was, and all of it was delicious!. They prepared a Happy Birthday plate with a cake dessert from the dessert menu, it was outstanding. Will definitely recommend to friends and family, will definitely be back again and again. Thank you.
I've been coming here for years and it's incredibly tasty food. Highlights always on my list are the pork and prawn shumai, sesame prawn toast and jasmine pork ribs.
The decor is beautiful with a huge fish tank downstairs and night sky lighting. It's pretty impressive and has the wow factor. It's great for an occasion or a treat.
Cocktails are delicious.
The only downside is that they really pack the tables in. It's hard to get in and out of your seat because you're so close to the table next to you.
Your conversation won't be private as the table next to you will be in earshot.
The acoustics mean you have to talk loudly to be heard
I have been to Yauatcha on several occasions and i have never found fault with the food. It is flavourful and interesting and presented well and sometimes delicious. It does NOT merit a michelin star. There is one area that needs improvement: service. The service is not worthy of a michelin starred restaurant. While one receives a warm welcome and attentive service, it is in fact overly attentive and intrusive. Yauatcha is the type of restaurant where one of several waiters continue to stop by the table to ask how "is everything ok"...etc, unfortunately, they do not seem to watch the table well to know WHEN to stop by...lack of customer awareness and the result is we often find our mouths full when they stop by and interrupt. It is annoying and inappropriate for a one michelin star restaurant. Customer awareness is key to good service,.
One of my favourite Chinese in London. Love the food, service and ambience.
Fantastic restaurant- great food. We come here often, however recently the service has gone down a little. There ran out of certain drink options and weren’t as welcoming as usual. It is also noisy so can’t spend too much time there. It is still one of my top restaurants in London!
Great food. We recommend this table.
Excellent food, service and staff. Thoroughly recommended.
Fancy interior design, fantastic food, good positioned , a bit too noisy
Great as usual!
Our group decided to try this restaurant out on our last day in London. The food tasted amazing and the atmosphere was on point. It was a great way to end our holiday.
I love this place! Delicious food, great service and overall great experience.
Dinner was great as usual food and service were really good. Thanks a lot :)
A very mixed affair !
Our food was absolutely delicious !!! However, the whole experience was ruined by:
A. We were greeted by a very grumpy waiter and we were sat for over 30mns before our order was taken.
B. Our four starters arrived at various intervals, meaning that by the time the last starter finally came, everyone else in our party had finished theirs.
C. We had a similar experience with our main courses which were served after a very long wait and also at various intervals. The tofu we had ordered arrived so late that we were considering cancelling it, especially after having asked two different waiters about the long delay.
D. The service remained consistently unfriendly and some of our dishes arrived lukewarm.
E. Customers next to our table ordered a dish without onion/spring onion and had to return their plate twice as the message seemed to not get across to the chef. This was done quite loudly and barely politely which added to our disappointment.
F. The bill came with a 13% service charge, which added insult to injury.
This was our third visit. The first was a happy one and vowed to return looking forward with anticipation. The second visit was a disappointment due a similar experience as the one we had today.
We had a wonderful evening. Everything was perfect. Thank you!
Food is slow to get to table
WiFi is not working but still collect your personal information
I have been to both Yauatcha restaurants a couple of times, I personally prefer Soho but City is great too. I like the cosiness of Soho and the food is consistently excellent, although not necessarily the best value it is always well executed. The only negative is every time I’ve been the waiters seem a little slow to begin with then rushed once it’s time to bring the food, they also seem to initially be focused on a great many other things than making you feel welcome, eye contact for one thing in my opinion is a basic necessity when greeting, each time I’ve been to both restaurants I’ve been made to feel that I needed to work for the waiters time, not that we’re valued customers.
come tutti gli anni ceniamo in questo ristorante ,ottino il cibo e bellissimo il locale
Fantastic service and delicious food, especially the Dim Sum
The food was great, especially the scallop shiu mai.
The food is really just mediocre for overcharged price. There’s always a huge crowd which compromises overall service and dining environment. Dim sums are alright but definitely not worth the price. Desserts are intended to be French-like but looks more like it than it tastes.
Haven’t been back here for a while, menu has changed significantly from the original days. Food has become “mass market” and lost its authenticity. The decor is still fabulous but would recommend other dim sum restaurants if you are a foodie
Consistently good food with a lively atmosphere. Excellent drinks and cocktail menu. Great service.
Excellent food and great service. The food was authentic but excellent quality!
Lovely cool place to go to without being too stuck up but excellent quality and service.
Food was great as usual. Restaurant manages to sustain the same high standards year after year.
