Japanese
Yoshi's has served Japan's best traditional dishes to Bay Area patrons since 1972. The menu highlights artfully arranged sushi, fresh grilled seafood, classic Japanese dishes, and vegetarian fare. Patrons can kick off their shoes in the traditional Japanese tatami seating or dine at tables. Expert sushi chefs create sushi and sashimi to order either in the restaurant or in the jazz house. Start the evening in the cocktail lounge before dinner or have a nightcap after taking in a show in the jazz house.

We always enjoy Yoshi's. Food and service have always been excellent. It was very busy this evening, so does tend to get a little loud, but that doesn't keep us from going back, over and over again!

Yoshi’s is an excellent venue both for dining and entertainment. We have attended 2 Peter White Performances and a Henry Kapono Performance. The club is a cozy venue where you are “up close and personal” with the Artists.

We also had dinners there each time. My favorite is the Black Cod. It’s like “Butter Fish” - flavor that melts in your mouth. The Mindoro Chicken is also another favorite.

Parking is convenient - it is in the same building. (Validation is available.)

They service was outstanding as was the food experience. Met Chef Mueller who was just a delightful young man. Whenever I’m in town this will no doubt by one of my stops to dine. Thanks to all the staff even the waiters were the most pleasant I have ever seen in an dining establishment.

We had a great time overall beautiful restaurant. We saw a show after had great seats staff was friendly. Food probably would have been good but I had a hair in my salad which they quickly took back and gave a new one , it was to late already in my mind I kept looking and just didn’t enjoy like I should have. I would of thought maybe they would have comped Salad but no , didn’t like that . First time but probably not last I’m always willing to give second chances.... so get the ladies to tie there hair up. Dinner was a bit pricey for what we ordered.

Everything we expected...and more!! The best part (besides the excellent food and service) was that Amtrak ran every 5 minutes or so down the center of the road in front of the restaurant and, being that my 15 year old son is a HUGE train afficionado, it was like the evening was custom ordered just for him along with the Glenn Miller Orchestra performing later that evening. Family friendly, couple friendly, small or big group friendly, I would always recommend Yoshi's Oakland to anyone who inquires.

We absolutely love Yoshi's, food is amazing, every time. I would recommend to anyone!! I wish I could remember the name of our waiter on Friday evening. We were sitting at a window table towards the middle of the dining side. Our name is Torrisi. If you can figure out who he is by our name, if you have any records at all, HE IS AMAZING! Thank you so much for a wonderful experience, as usual!

Unfortunately we, my husband and I were very disappointed.
We have been to yoshi's several times and always lover the scene there. Good shows.
The 13th of March was the first time to eat there.
Our server was Alex and he was the best...very nice and accommodating.
The food was very poor. The misogyny soup was like warm, the roll we got was old and dried up, everything was served ala Carter which was very awkward..my husband order cooked chicken
He got a heaping helping of chicken, with a side of bok choy..the chicken was like warm...shortly after dinner he got stomach cramps and was sick 2x there.
..I had tempura, either vegetable or shrimp, .the teriyaki sauce tasted like hot water, no flavor..first Alex brought me vegie tempura and I asked him where was the shrimp. That's when he told me it was either or...which was very boring and unusual for a Japanese tempura dinner.
So, without giving you a story about everything about the dinner which was poorly presented, I will move on.
I am requesting a refund or credit for the show...we drive 150 miles to see and hear meshell Ndgecello...she sang 2 songs then introduced some people we had mo idea would take over the show...i dont know who they were...very talented, but meshell stayed in the back of the band not front stage like the star of the band...i didn't realize she could change the venue and we sure did not pay all that money for what we got..she said at the end, "sometimes she gives us what we like and sometimes she gives what we need"
We did not need or want or appreciate the radical anti everything demonstration presented by that foot stomping lunatic... at times i felt intimidated and insulted by what was being yelled in our faces...we can see and hear that in the streets or you tube...
When the show ended I was very upset because of what we had to endure. Meshell just sat in the back in her chair with her eyes closed...the so called poet had to read her crap from notes..very unprofessional.
disappointing

The venue is a great place to eat, right before a concert or whatever the activity is. This makes it so easy to relax, without rushing to get to your event. They get you seated inside the restaurant and get you seats for the show as well. The food is great and the service in the dinning area is awesome. This is a no brainer for convenience to see a show here.

Seemed that the server was rushing us to get our order in due to the fact we were going to the show. She mad an error in what we ordered as we had changed the order before she put it in. She brought us 3 salmon dinners and we only wanted two. Then when the bull came she charge use for 5!!! She said we ordered 3 but we had changed it to 2 as we ordered three different sushi’s in addition. She did correct the bull from 5 to 3.
Quite pricey for dinner! Have been there before but this time seemed disorganized.
We had plenty of time to get to the show so no need to feel rushed.

Yoshi's is a very fun and lively Japanese restaurant that doubles as a popular and poppin jazz club. Location is awesome right there in Jack London Square, and service was great, from the hostess to our waiter. I cannot remember his name but he provided great suggestions and exemplified great customer service throughout. Definitely recommend for a Friday night date spot!

We enjoy eating at the restaurant before a show, as the food always is good. The service usually also is attentive, but this was not the case on our most recent visit. Our waitperson disappeared and only checked in with us once during the meal. We needed silverware, additional drinks and had to wait too long to get them. Oftentimes, all of the courses are served at once rather than sequentially, with the appetizer first and the main courses to follow.

We attended the Tommy Igoe show and had dinner. Food was great and service excellent as well. Sushi was really fresh and well presented. Service was fast too.

The Tommy Igoe band is really fantastic. Unfortunately Yoshi’s overamplifys the band. It’s painfully loud and amplified to the point that there is a distinct undesirable echo which makes it sound as though the band is playing in a box.

My overall experience at Yoshi's was good! The food and service in the dining area could benefit from improvements with the food selection, as well as the customer service. For example, ordered the spinach and bacon salad and tiger prawns. The bacon was cold which was not good at all. I asked the waiter if he could have my bacon warmed, and he responded that he could put it in the microwave but didn't recommend because the lettuce would probably be not good by being microwaved. Now that was absurd to think that one would have to put the entire salad in the microwave. Also, my sister ordered tiger prawns andrequested extra sauce. The waiter took approximately 20 minutes and was repeatedly asked prior to the actual delivery, which again was not good customer service at all. Now on a better note, our seating location (table #79) was fabulous and truly appreciated! In brief, although my first experience at Yoshi's started off less desirable, my seating location for the Cameo concert made up for all of the unfortunate moments.

Thanks to Alania and the front desk young lady for making my overall experience a pleasurable one! Sincerely, Sharee Butler
