   Of course we ordered the chicken, it is what Zuni is famous for! The chicken was delicious, we were aware of the wait time so we ordered bread and olives as an appetizer to start and a bottle of wine. Service was very slow and the restaurant was not very busy at all. We wanted to put in an order for oysters but our waiter didn’t come back until our chicken was ready. We also came for our anniversary (which I noted in the description when I booked the reservation) and we didn’t get any acknowledgment until our server came with the check and she’s like “oh happy anniversary by the way”. I feel like Zuni is a one and done, try when you’re in the city so you can say you went. The chicken will not disappoint!

    Been dining at Zuni since the 90’s but haven’t been since the pandemic… lunch was Incredible as always. The chicken, polenta and fava beans with Lychee goat cheese with beets were divine. Lovely dessert of Eton Mess and a Pimms’s cup could not have been more refreshing. Lance, our waiter was very attentive and made sure our every need was met. A true treat indeed!

    Came here at 5:30p on a Wednesday and had a fantastic experience. I made a reservation on OpenTable and indicated that my party had to catch a Broadway show at 7:30 and that we'd like to order the chicken. We were pleasantly surprised when the waiter showed us to our seats and told us the chicken was already fired up for us! We were seated on the top floor with a view of the first floor and absolutely loved it. This is a great space for special occasions- I will say I've sat in their other rooms (it's a very interesting layout) and the seats on the first floor + balcony are the best. Some seating by the kitchen is side by side sweetheart seating. Our waiter was kind and super helpful with suggestions. Our party of 3 ordered: Acme Bread + Butter: you can never go wrong with Acme bread, it's very filling, feels hearty, and comes with 2 thiccc slices of butter Shoestring Fries: these were the absolute BEST! I love how impressive the tower of fries look and how small they are- you definitely need to eat them a handful at a time. Risotto: the clam risotto was delicious. It was luscious with butter and saffron and the clams were so tasty and not over cooked. 10/10 Zuni Chicken for 2: the star of the show was the Zuni chicken for two. This is an oven roasted chicken that takes a hour to make, but is SO WORTH IT. They roast the chicken over thick chunks of bread so the bread soaks up all of the drippings. The chicken is served over the bread with a light frise salad on top and pine nuts. We couldn't keep our hands off of the bread....it's seasoned with fresh olive oil too so it makes it extra irresistible. The chicken comes with 6 pieces and was more than enough for the three of us to share. Thank you Zuni for a fantastic dining experience! I'll definitely be back.

    We have been to Zuni many times over many years and usually cherish the experience. This trip was sadly disappointing. The service was terrible, lackluster, no care or attention to detail. The food was fine but not remarkable. The price for lunch for two was nearly $300 Everything about it was a disappointment.

    Zuni Cafe has returned to top form after a series of disappointing meals. The White Shrimp were fresh and succulent, paring well with the garlic aioli. The Shoestring potatoes were hot and crispy. The Caesar salad was a robust choice with its assertive dressing. The only drawback was the foursome next to us who consumed at least 16 cosmopolitans, which made it difficult to carry on a conversation.

    While the chicken for two remains Lu favorite dish in San Francisco, the service at Zuni has deteriorated considerably. My husband and I had a Friday night 8pm reservation last week. Upon arrival, the hostess didn’t welcome us and was very brusk in walking us to our table. Once seated, we waited 10 minutes before being acknowledged by our server - a staff member delivering drinks at the next table eventually asked for our cocktail order. Only then did our server come over, after passing us several times and attending to other tables, again without a single “welcome” or “I’ll be with you shortly.” Once he finally arrived, again there was no greeting, explanation of menu or asked if we had questions etc, just “are you ready to order?” He only checked on us twice throughout our 2.5hr meal - we ordered oysters and appetizers, cocktails, the chicken, a nice bottle of Pinot Noir, dessert and coffee. 20% Gratuity is automatically added, but that doesn’t mean that guests shouldn’t receive pleasant service. Sad to say that we likely we won’t be returning as a result.

    I had a wonderful evening at Zuni, from the drinks, service and excellent gnocchi! Of course, the highlight as always was Rob Reich and his playing the piano & accordion. Kudos to the excellent, unique and warm ambiance at Zuni and all the staff too!

    As much as it pains me to say- Really mediocre. Service was attentive, but not very friendly. Food was ok. Unfortunately we didn't have the Chicken -which is the staple here. Opted for Ahi- which was overcooked and Lamb- which was delicious. Been here a few times- this will be the last time. Nothing like dropping $250 on dinner (3 people -2 glasses of wine) and feeling so so, too many other good options to be had.

    Just not the same. Food was "fine" but nothing special. Service was cursory - not very warm and didn't feel sincere, especially after we asked the hostess to move tables (empty restaurant as our reservation was at 11:30am). Was always one of my favorite restaurants in SF since my first time in the 90s but not sure I will go back TBH.

    I have been going to Zuni since 1984, or so and it is one of my favorite SF places. The food is superb as usual, the ambience and service unbeatable. But the wine list could be much better, with better selections of more affordable wines. There are many California wines that are superior to the cheapest French wine on the Zuni list, and at half or even quarter the price. We end up drinking beer, even though we would have much preferred wines. The last one we ordered a Crozes-Hermitage at $61 was mediocre and undrinkable. Dont see why in wine-growing California we should be reduced to drinking such poor quality wines. The sommelier/procurer should check the wine lists of Poggio, Foreign Cinema, Piperade, Routier, etc for examples of well-planned wine lists with excellent wines at affordable prices. Hope this comment will be taken seriously. Love the cocktails, specially the irresistible Margaritas.

    The chicken was great as always, and desserts were amazingly light and delicious. Other dishes were mediocre (leg of lamb was tough - overdone). Waiter was super nice but completely unknowledgeable about the dishes and wines - had to read off our menu to check that he wrote the selections down right. Poor dear. We fully understand it is tough to hire and keep employees now.

    Zuni continues to excel as one of San Francisco’s best restaurants. It’s not fancy like Boulevard or Spruce, but the food is consistently excellent. We had the burger, the fish entree (lunch), the soup (which included a poached egg, a nice touch) and Eaton’s mess for dessert. Service was solid.

    Zuni never disappoints. Our server was delightful and all the food was delicious. One surprising standout was a pasta bolognese with kale that one of my kids ordered. It was amazing. The ambiance is timelessly fresh.
