We had such a great experience at Piedra! The piña coladas were amazing not overly sweet and they didn’t have that strong alcohol taste, which I really appreciated. The tostadas and salsa were also so good the smoky flavor of the tostadas with the salsa was such a good combination.
We ordered the calamari as an appetizer and it came with both garlic aioli and chipotle aioli. It was so good that we finished the entire plate! Our server Alondra was so attentive the entire time. The service was excellent and really added to the experience.
For my entree I ordered the filet mignon medium rare, and it came out exactly right. The steak was tender and stayed perfectly cooked throughout the meal. The plate itself was hot, which usually makes me nervous because I’ve had steaks continue cooking on the plate before but that wasn’t an issue here at all.
I normally prefer my steak to be more heavily seasoned, and this one seemed pretty simply seasoned but the smoky flavor from the grill gave it enough flavor on its own that I still really enjoyed it. I ordered the mole on the side and ultimately didn’t try it since I’m not much of a mole person.
The poblano mashed potatoes were probably one of the biggest surprises for me. They’re actually green from the poblano peppers, which I had never had before, and they were so good!
I was so impressed that by the end of our meal I forgot we were there for my birthday haha! Alondra brought over a really cute birthday plate at the end, which was such a nice touch and made the dinner feel a lot more special.
