Best Family Style Restaurants in Downtown

My husband and I were lucky enough to get a table at Comedor for our anniversary, and I’m so glad we did. Our first time dining here absolutely did not disappoint! Every staff member we came in contact with congratulated us on our anniversary. They gave us a handwritten card with well wishes and even surprised us with a little treat before we left. We truly felt the love and thoughtfulness from the entire staff. ❤️ The service was incredible…everyone was so attentive, and they made sure my dietary restrictions were taken into consideration when helping us choose what to order. That level of care really stood out to us. Now, for the food… INCREDIBLE!!! Every single thing we tried was perfection. The flavors, presentation, and attention to detail were amazing. My husband ordered the bone marrow tacos, and all I could get out of him was, “No words,” when I asked how they were. 😂 Everything we ate had the most wonderful smoky flavor, and every bite was better than the last. We honestly can’t wait to come back and work our way through as much of the menu as possible. Comedor was the PERFECT place to celebrate our anniversary, and we’re already looking forward to our next visit! ❤️

Second time I have eaten here. Both the cooked food and Sushi/sashimi tastes Fresh and the place is quite nice. It’s not top-top but a great go to if you are downtown.

Uchiba Austin is really tasty! The food was delicious and our server Ivy was fantastic. She was friendly, knowledgeable and provided top notch service. The atmosphere is definitely lively, busy and quite loud. The tables are close enough that we could hear every word of the conversation next to us, so if you’re looking for a quiet intimate evening, this probably isn’t the spot. But if you’re looking for a fun energetic and bustling atmosphere, Uchiba is a great choice. Overall, great food and excellent service!

This is my new favorite restaurant in Austin, hands-down. My friends and I said these were the best chicken and steak fajitas we’ve ever tasted in our lives, including the freshly made tortillas and chips that bordered on pita bread? I don’t know, but they were freaking fantastic. Don’t even get me started on the service, amazing! The desserts were decadent and also had Light offerings like the pineapple sorbet. I can’t recommend this place highly enough and cannot wait to return.!

Such a great experience at Il Brutto! I sat at the bar and Ally took amazing care of me all night. She gave me wine pairings with each dish, let me taste different Italian wines and spirits, and made the whole experience so much more fun and memorable. The potato gnocchi was definitely one of the standouts, so good, and the gelato was the perfect way to finish the meal. Everything was delicious, but the service really made the night. Ally was super knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely fun to talk to. I’ll absolutely be back!
