Shade is a very welcoming environment! The staff are lovely, service is prompt yet respectful if you're interested in enjoying the experience. The food is delectable! There were 3 of us who had 3 different meals and one was better than the other!! We can't wait to go back!

Our overall experience was great. Annie, our server was attentive and good humored. Renee, the owner, was right on things and definitely kept an eye on what was going on. And we had a nice conversation with her. Our only not positive comment is that my partner has lived in East Germany, and the “glass tower” in the front left corner made her nervous as it reminded her of the “spy “towers there. On our next visit we will have her face away from the “tower”.

My husband and I came here for dinner and wow was it fantastic. While it’s considered a fixed course menu, you could choose between 3 and 4 courses and there were plenty of choices for each course. My husband was worried that the servings would be small and he’d leave feeling hungry but that was so far from reality. We both left feeling we didn’t need to eat for a week after that meal. Definitely a fine dining experience that was worth the price we paid. The 4 course was fixed at 130 a person and we both had drinks, which were also amazing. Their drinks are roughly $14-18 I believe. All in all it’s a great stop for a very beautiful dinner on vacation.

Great dinner before a show at the Cross Arena We both had a delicious appetizer then shared the rib eye steak. Everything was prepared to perfection. The wine list was affordable and we enjoyed a very tasty Chilean cab. Super chill vibe in the dining space. Our 5:15 reservation gave us plenty of time to enjoy dinner before heading to the show at 7:30. This is a great find in the Old Port!

We were in Portland for vacation and looking for a place for dinner. Had heard good things about B&F and reserved a spot. Service, food and drinks were great. We will definitely go back next time we are in Portland.
