A couple notes about the Taverna-We stop taking day of reservations after 4pm. Please call the restaurant after 4pm.We do not accept parties of 4 people or more. We are a small restaurant with only 22 seats and cannot accommodate larger parties. Established in April of 2015, The Taverna serves authentic Greek fare while remaining true to our Greek roots. Our menu highlights what is available to us locally and seasonally. Our wine list is one of the largest all Greek wine lists in the United States which features natural, orange and organic wines. Located in Portland's Old Port District, Fore Street opened in June, 1996. The interior surrounds a unique brick and soapstone hearth with a wood-burning oven, grill and turnspit; visible from most tables. We believe that good food travels the shortest possible distance between the farm and the table. Our menu changes every day and is founded upon the very best raw materials from a community of Maine farmers, fisherman, foragers and cheese makers. Most of the Maine foods are organically grown or harvested wild, each brought to us at the peak of its season. In 2002 and again in 2007, Fore Street was named by Gourmet Magazine as one of the Top Fifty Restaurants in the United States.     Fabulous! Tony and Chelsea are master restaurateurs. Imaginative cuisine, great execution, a menu that's not too big and not too small--just right! From basic to haute Sicilian. Best restaurant north of Portland and as good as any there.

    We had a very relaxing meal with a wonderful server, Mac. She was very friendly, knowledgeable and prompt. Our lobster was excellent, as were the sides. The boneless wings were decent, though not as good as everything else. Good value, in our opinion.

    The clam chowder was excellent. My bowl with Korean Pork was excellent. May I suggest adding a bit more pork to the bowl because it was superior flavor.
