Located in Portland's Old Port District, Fore Street opened in June, 1996. The interior surrounds a unique brick and soapstone hearth with a wood-burning oven, grill and turnspit; visible from most tables. We believe that good food travels the shortest possible distance between the farm and the table. Our menu changes every day and is founded upon the very best raw materials from a community of Maine farmers, fisherman, foragers and cheese makers. Most of the Maine foods are organically grown or harvested wild, each brought to us at the peak of its season. In 2002 and again in 2007, Fore Street was named by Gourmet Magazine as one of the Top Fifty Restaurants in the United States. In 2004, Chef-Partner Sam Hayward was named Best Chef: Northeast by the James Beard Foundation.

Street and Co. is a Mediterranean, bistro style, all-seafood restaurant with a dynamic atmosphere and 35 years of experience, located right in the heart of the Old Port. Our chefs focus on serving the freshest seafood and the best ingredients available from local purveyors, fishermen and organic farmers. They prepare a simple yet creative menu that highlights the ingredients. Our personalized wine list truly complements the cuisine, and we offer a classic full bar. We serve our full menu at the bar itself and feature a raw bar with a variety of local oysters. The bar is available to book the majority of the year but only available thru walk in for July/August. We currently offer in-house dining Tuesday through Sunday from 4:30-9:30pm.Our restaurant features Paolo Laboa, international chef from Genova, Italy.     We enjoyed another well-anticipated and great dinner last night at Fore Street, Everything ordered, from oysters and salad to scallops and lamb rags pasta to dessert was delicious. Elizabeth, our server, was attentive and knowledgeable as well as added to our overall wonderful experience. Fore Street never disappoints!

    What a truly special place Portland has with Solo Italiano. The food was outstanding. Every course was cooked to perfection (the octopus tender, the pasta al dente) and the flavors transporting. The service was beyond words. From our charming host to our wonderful server to the attentive assistants, we felt so welcomed! We had a complicated group with one severe nut allergy and one sensitive celiac, and it was not a problem. Our server asked us all the right questions, guided us expertly through the menu, and made us feel so comfortable with everything we ordered. The assistant staff was also very attentive without rushing. One asked if we were still working and noting that we were disappeared with a “please take your time” and didn’t try to clear plates or hurry the diner still eating. Such a pleasure to be able to enjoy good food, in an accommodating environment that gives their diners time and space to enjoy their meal. Thank you to all the staff for their hospitality and the kitchen team for an amazing meal.

    Awesome experience! Highly recommend! We made a last minute reservation and almost didn’t because it required a credit card to secure it. So glad we decided to go!!! Outstanding unique food! Wait staff a cut above! Ambience and music 10 out of 10. Don’t miss the opportunity to dine in this hidden gem!!

    In a city where you cannot find a bad meal, this is my longtime favorite! Location, menu, quality of the Food, and Service all top-notch. Actually not as expensive as some of his other venues like Fore Street and Scales and every bit as good. Hopefully Street And Company lasts forever.  go and enjoy!
